Jeff.
Greetings from Seoul...
Thanks for the compliment - this was a fun project - I love the way the garage came out.
You did good by going to Alabama - my experience going to track first time was that It took me back 20 years ago when I was into racing dirt bikes. I had become more and more conservative over the years with work family and kids and the track just released me.. Big grin on my face making turns at 110...
I am sure you were shocked to experience how far these beautiful machines can be pushed.
It would be a shame to own the worlds best car Porsche Turbo PDK and not know what it can do and how far it can go.
It was mind boggling how much traction those huge wheels have than we think they do.
Next time you go please keep me informed I might just Join you.

OK, I'm not really on this Ultra Hi-End Gear thread, but could not resist to watch all those great rides...Seems that I share the same hobbies with some others...1)- Cars 2)- Home Theater 3)- Food&Wine (Well...I'm French, so no surprise here)

My current ride...Jaguar XKR (510 HP)....LOVE IT !
Not the fastest for sure, but it's a great combination of Luxury & Sport...perfect for me (and I had the approval from my Wife to purchase it !). My previous one was the BMW Z4M..

Great torque, and power. When you buy an XKR, you are invited for a driving class. I went to Monticello track for a day of fun, where you can truly push the car to the limit...really fun.
Great handling as well, and pretty agile despite the weight. It's a very good balance between sport and comfort.
Interior is very well done, and the sound system is awesome.
One thing, is you don't see too many of them on the road, and each time I stop at the gas station, I always question or remarks.

No regret so far. Jaguar truly improved their car over the recent years...

Ash, I love the floor!! Unfortunately I don't have much to add in this thread.

I'm not much of a collector of sorts and have just a common 3-series BMW 325xi AWD. I used to collect coins when I was younger until I realized there was no point of it because I was buying them to store them in a safe and I never looked at them.

My OCD is collecting old books to add to my library. I have an obsession with "old spines" the line the shelves in the library...and not pack it with books of today with their flashy colours. I guess I prefer the old, mute colouring and minimalism of old books...and the smell of old paper... Many are 1800s-era, it's tough to find anything older in good shape. Many are of philosophy and poetry, or discoveries of the "new land" by early explorers (which is now our home in North America) with their stories of struggles and aboriginals in their relatively native living condition ...and I'm fascinated to read about what people thought 150 years ago about anything (childbirth, what women should do when their men aren't around Ha!) ...

I think my prize in an interesting book about the USA when turning 100 years old...all about the great achievements...a walk through time without restraint...pictures drawn...quite a book...

That is a great looking car~

I believe it was designed by the same guy that did the DB9 for AM. Jag nicked him from AM some years ago.
That is correct.... Ian Callum is the guy !
He also designed the BMW 6M, and other AMG SL..and many other.
No wonder why if you put side by side the DB9, and the XKR...they look very similar :-)
I honestly dont mind at all !

My other 2 hobbies are Porsche (2008 Turbo Manual) and photography (Canon 1D, 35mm 1.4, 85mm 1.2, Contax Distagon 21mm 2.8 etc.). Pictures below are combination of these 2 hobbies, taken with Canon 1D with 85mm 1.2L lens, developed from RAW form using Capture One raw converter.

East Texas a few years ago. After 90,000 miles and three belt changes, she still runs as good as new. Just got the old 996tt out of storage after a three year "rest"; needed a low mileage car. At 60k miles she is the lowest of 5.

If you're referring to my shots thanks. Otherwise, nevermind.

OT - Nothing wrong with 1D MarkII! I still shoot with my original 1D and absolutely love the PQ.
The secret IMvHO is in the lenses. You have Canon 35 1.4L and 85 1.2L? I assume you shoot in RAW?

Since people are posting, might as well...
Proud owner of a BMW E39 M5 '03
Lots of tweaks, including Dinan, outputting around 485hp. May not be the fastest thing around, but handles absolutely...no words...amazing.

btw I also have a yamaha R1, which I'm selling soon, i'm getting smarter and realizing a motorcycle is death on wheels, but besides the fact, if any of you think your Ferrari or w/e are fast, me and my R1 will make breakfast from you, just saying. I get to 60 in well under 3 seconds on a good start.

After 10+ years of city living without a car I picked this up a few months ago and have been loving it.

Haha, well top speed is 186, but its not top speed, its acceleration that matters, you'd need like a few mile straight track to get to 200mph. But eventually, in a top speed you'd beat me.

More like Torque! That'll get you faster quicker but in the end, horsepower, is what gets you to top speed fastest.

Check out the Italia vs the McLaren MP4-12C vs Noble M600 vs Turbo S vs Italia 458 in a drag race. Torque wins to 60 mph (Turbo S wins - most torque of the group) and Horse power wins in the 2 mile long race (Noble @650 HP - highest of the others).

And the cheapest car of all is the Turbo S (top speed 196 MPH - slowest of the bunch). Horsepower cost $$$! I have not yet launch controlled my Turbo S as I haven't found a street devoid of cars in case I crash it when it flies off the line!

Check out this ultra exotic race!

I said acceleration matters, that included everything lol. Faster accleration means getting to a certain speed quicker. And
torque and horsepower can't be compared. Horsepower is a series of calculations and it has nothing to do with any direct output of the engine. Torque is how much force the engine can apply to the car, its a direct measurement that requires physical measurements, not paper calculations. Also, torque and horsepower ratings are meaningless without the RPMs that it can be provided.

When you said that, were you implying I am wrong about something?

How does the Mclaren rate against the ski-box car, Koenigsegg Agera R?

It doesn't. They aren't in the same category at all, so rating them against each other is pretty pointless. The Koenigsegg is in Pagani/Bugatti/other $1Mil+ cars territory. It has nearly double HP/Torque. Top speed is close to +50 MPH, it costs about 7-8 times more. So can't really compare the two.

How about this McLaren? Or Aston Martin, Turbo S or Bentley?

Saw this when returning to the hotel yesterday. Wish I had my car!!
