Ok..... I'll play!

Here's a one of a kind, custom made Synth Guitar. Created for me by an in demand luthier, this baby took 2 1/2 years to receive after placing my deposit. This is an ergonomic design, and balances perfectly. Body is mahogany, fretboard is ebony, and neck is maple+. The brighter ebony balances with the more mellow mahogany. The electronics are designed to keep the analog and digital outputs completely separate. Onboard controls are kept to a bare minimum. This can connect with either Roland or Axon style interfaces, and control a variety of hard or soft synths. The analog pickups are custom wound by a very well known pickup builder. They were sent back and forth by the luthier until just the right tone was achieved. Coil taps and switching provide a variety of single coil and humbucking tones and combinations. This one is a joy to play. Combining the natural guitar tone with synth layers is just amazing! When used by itself, without synth, this instrument still has fantastic tone.

You'll appreciate this as I grew up in Wayne...old school muscle car.

Bizarre coincidence: I went to MSU w/ a bud who is now an ENT in K-zoo.
He races a 911 and has an incredible wine collection. He is:

You're right. I love turntable cars.. What car us that? Dodge? Aside from a Porsche (a la Risky business), I first dream car was a Mustang Mach I.

I went to MSU as well (mid eighties). Lived on Spartan St and shot - lot of pool at Dooleys. Beaver hunting at Sensations downstairs. Great times at MSU.

Don't know the doc.

Too funny! It's a '70 Nova. I graduated in 84. Met my first x-wife at Dooleys.

PS-One of my many corporate stints was with Diageo...makers of Geroge de Latour. We could buy it for %50 off as an employee.
Yum!

Dog! Dooleys was my #1 hangout! I have always shot a lot of pool and usually had my share of free drinks thanks to a few bets. Probably saw you there! Hard to believe it was that long ago.. Nice ride..

No track time in this car. The only time on the track was a 3 day course at the Bob Bondurant school of high performance driving, and a about 4 or 5 days on shifter carts. I use to drive the canyons alot. This is just my weekend driver if that. Sometimes it sits for two or three weeks. The car is all set up though. It is a 2001 with just about 22,000 miles only. I bought this car used for about $94,000, put $30,000 into it for the modifications. I would be lucky to get $45,000 for this car right now. I hardly drive it. To much traffic in Los Angeles. I am into my home sterio/theater for what I put into my car, and get alot more use out of it.

Gotcha. As a Detroiter, I get to use my car 7-8 mos out of the year. Too much snow. Fortunately, home theater is a great winter time indoor sport!

Thanks....he's a Thoroughbred; I brought him over from England, where TBs are typically bred as sport horses rather than for the track as they are here (he's 17.1h and over 1500 lbs -- "big boned" ).

Granddaughter of Secretariat?...nice!! Must be an amazing mover.

After 41 years, at the end of this past summer I sold my totally factory original Aug 1969 built 1970 Monti Carlo, which I acquired used from a GM Exec. in Oct. of 1969.

It became to much work for me to keep it all original and keep it up.
There was not so much as a single part that was a reproduction.
Although I did have some chrome and pretty braiding under the hood. Even the chrome work was done to original factory parts.

Sad to see it go but it's gone to a guy who has for years been looking to buy this all original 70' Monti Carlo.

I've had lots of offers for it every year but almost all of the buyers wanted to take it apart to finish building other Monti's, none of which were all original to begin with.

I still keep the 1/25th scale model with the movable doors, hood and trunk though

I guess I need a new hobby!

Heres one of my other hobbies, I build these high powered rockets, we fly them with an organized club in upstate ny on a 3 square mile turf farm. We have a 24000 ft waiver from the faa that we can fly too. every time we fly over 5k we have to call in to faa and get clearence.

theres nothing like building one of these rockets, watching it rip off the launch pad while it hits mach speeds and going over 2 miles high and recovering it with a parachute.

btw my rockets are fiberglass and carbon fiber with painted at an automotive paint facility with clear coats..

when they take off sound like an f15 taking off just faster

Amazing mover is an understatement!

She has a long ways to go, but her temperament and long graceful legs are something to behold.........

I just bought a couple of '07 Faust to try... Promising cab for 07 and modestly priced at $39.

Wine could be a totally new thread in and of itself!

A+ for presentation! Mine is strictly functional, with 2 inch poly all around and under floor. Strictly not for viewing!

Got carried away and preordered waaay too much 09 Bordeaux - yes, hype got me hook line and sinker.

But from the side of the world, stocked up on some 09 Machete - very impressed with this new entry from Orin Swift, for the price.

Wow, what a beautiful instrument. 2 1/2 years is a long time but considering all the thought and artistry that went into the guitar it's not really surprising. I'm guessing it was more than worth the wait.

Thanks! Mine's really functional, too. It is 7' x 8' and really a well insulated, temp controlled closet. I wanted the nice wood racks like you have but feared the great amount of assembly.

I have mostly Napa cabs followed by Bordeauxs and wines from Spain ((and a few nice Merlots). A few cases of whites).

Yeas, 09 is the year. I am preordering the 09 Chateau Pontt Canet (fav Bordeaux). But haven't done much research.

Which Bordeauxs did you preorder?

Since we're talking wine cellars......

First image is front half of newly completed cellar. Only some minor work remaining Rear half is identical. The photo was taken at the bottom of staircase that leads to the Cigar lounge. Cellar has its own HVAC and A/V zones, inventory can be viewed or managed from any other zone in the house.

Second image is from top of stairs looking into Cigar lounge. Stonework follows through both rooms. The room is awaiting furniture and humidor installation. A/V is complete, just requiring screen mount. The fire has been installed since the photo was taken.

Oh god - tons - 350 bottles in all, across a spectrum of the performers of the vintage, whether priced high or low (not TOO high! I'm not Chinese!)

Léoville Las Cases, Cos, Guiraud, Longueville Comtesse, Malescot St. Exupéry, Clinet, L'Evangile, Pavie, Montrose, Suduiraut, Poyferré, Angélus, Haut-Bailly, Lynch-Bages, Pontet-Canet, Pavie Decesse, Ducru-Beaucaillou, Rol Valentin, Gazin, Duhart-Milon, La Tour Carnet, Gruaud Larose, La Gomerie, Lucia, Clerc Milon, Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Figeac (RIP), Monbousquet, Haut-Bergey, Gloria, ....... can't name them all!

But my "house" wines right now are a series of reds from Rivetti Spinetta - I got hooked on Ca di Pian, then tried their Colorino and Gentile recently and stocked up. Don't know if you've tried these yet, but they are DELICIOUS, starting at only about $17. House white is a Sancerre by Etienne Daulny, the "Clos de Chaudenay" - almost out of these tho.

A really exotic white I tried at a tasting with friends the other day is Kenneth Volk Malvasia - hugely aromatic nose, and amazing palate. I had some of the '08s but just ordered more 09s from the winery, untasted.

Now THAT's the way to do it! Very nice. I'd like one like that, with a glass-separated tasting room between the cellar and the kitchen area. There's got to be something of a compulsive streak in all of us - there's always a "next thing"

Gorgeous! Gorgeous! What fun you'll have stocking it. I imagine dinners served down there and other gatherings will be memorable. When''s the party?. Very nice!

Wow what a list... Makes HT additions seem cheap!

I haven't checked pricing on French wine futures but how is 09? Is european pricing still as crazy as it has been in the last few years? This is part of the reason I've been cellaring more cabs than Bordeauxs as of late. You've got me enthused to look a little harder at 09 Bordeaux vintages. Very nice!

Some of the big names just got really silly for '09 - lots of buyers in China, etc running them up.

But because it is such a good vintage, there is a wide variety of other vineyards that normally clock under 89 points, coming in at 94 plus. Having not tasted these from barrel, I just used feedback from the reviewers, which is not so bad.

I picked up some amazing wines from under $20 - yet even the wines at $70 and $150 will be appreciate massively for '09.

Any of the wines in my list above will be exceptional - so just take a look at what pre-order pricing is still available and see what you like.

The only bad news is that 2010 is looking like it is going to be a very good followup year - not for everyone, but some labels will have some absolutely spectacular wines also, and a lot of folks will be over-invested in '09 - so the pricing may be better.

OK - the wine thing seems to have killed the conversation!

Let's get back to cars - this was my favourite toy when I was based in the UK, had her for about 3 years. Took her on a trip to the Loire valley one summer, but can't find the pics right now. Very small trunk, by the way!

Anyway, this was the following year at Le Mans. A friend worked at BBC Top Gear, so we also had an amazing track day at Dunsfold aerodrome, the Top Gear race track. Those are on a hard drive somewhere!

I almost stayed in England just so I wouldn't have to sell her!

P.S. This is the same DB9 that appeared in the Justin Timberlake / 50 Cent video "ayo technology" - the "friend" that was selling it for me after I left apparently rented it to the studio without my permission and I found out later. I didn't even get a damned autograph!

I agree with you on Janasse, great great wine. I don't have the 07, just 05, but it's spectacular. Also I think you'll love Roger Sabon, "Le secret" - the 2001 amazing.
