caused the premium channels to no longer work, it just goes back to the main menu screen after you press premium.

Any ideas, all my upgrades have worked seemlessly in the past. Also you may want to hold off on downloading. Unless its just my issue.

(started its own thread for this but probably should've just posted here. sorry)

Did you mean BD.8.62.376.E ? Did you download from the Web site or directly through the player?

sorry, you are correct. It's the 376 and I ran it directly through the player.
Contacted LG but haven't heard from them yet.

Try unplugging the player, leave unplugged for several minutes, then reboot and try again.

Tried unplugging it for about 5 minutes. After reboot pressed premium channels.

Screen went black for a minute or so. Then straight back to main screen. When I press premium again, it flicks instantly back to the main screen

Unplugged it again, will try for a 10 minute break but not a lot of faith. Still no word from LG

You might want to use the initialize function to do a factory reset.

Tried the factory reset using using unplug/hold power/re plug then factory set.

Didn't work.

digging for other ways to reset.

Not sure if once you update to a certain firmware if you can re-install it again by putting the files on a flash drive. Might be worth a try if you can.

You're welcome I'm so glad that worked for you. Somehow your first try at the update must have gotten corrupted.

Meanwhile, I'm experiencing a problem with my new BD670. After watching something on Amazon or Hulu+, I'll press the stop key and the video stops. Then when I press the Home key, the player shuts down.

I'm just wondering if this is a bug in the firmware, or a defect in the player itself. Anyone had this problem?

New to posting here but I've been following along since I got my BD670 last July. I have experienced a similar shut down issue. I downloaded the SW update from LG and installed via thumb drive this evening. After that, that system shut down normally like after every update in the past. After the restart, I saw that a Firmware update was available so I simply downloaded that over the air. The odd thing is I didn't see the FW update on the LG site so it looked like the only way to get that was via the player's update.

So...anyway, after both the FW and SW updates, I was browsing to my home server and playing video files as well as browsing photos -- as a test mainly -- and the player just shut down, twice.

I powered it back up and then did a power/reset by holding down the power button for about 25 seconds. After that I played a NETFLIX selection and watched a few DVDs. So far, so good. I plan to stream a video from my home server to verify that it's ok as well. I'm sort of scared to jinx the thing based on the other updates we got over the summer and early fall.

One thing was that my home network was detected more easily than in the past so maybe the SW or FW addressed that. I don't have an access point close enough to use a wired connection to my router so I'm stuck using the player's wireless which has proven to be somewhat dodgy in the past.

Anyway, if the power issue persists I may try powering off the system and pulling the plug to see if that makes a difference. I've been pretty lucky with just holding down the power button in the past but maybe not this time?

So far I've been reasonably pleased with the player despite the earlier playback issues. I do think LG is trying to fix things but it just seems so haphazard at times. And would it kill them to put ALL the FW and SW updates on their web site? And how about annotating the updates as well? Maybe a list of bugs that they've fixed or new functionality that they've added?

Sorry to be so long winded but I did want to give a shout out to all on this board who have posted their observations and fixes. It's helped me out more than a few times.

Welcome to the forum, qi88 What FW version are you on now?

I agree with you, LG should have information as to what was fixed with each FW/SW and keep older versions on their website. I know from now on, I will keep all the FW/SW by downloading onto my PC.

I originally updated via wireless but this morning I applied the FW again by using a flash drive. I haven't yet tested out Amazon or other apps yet to see if I still experience the shut down issue. One thing that happened last night was I turned the player on, went to Premium and then selected Amazon, and the player shut down again.

My player is only a week old and so I'm still within the 30 day exchange period. I'm going to see how it performs over the next few days. If it still continues to shut down, I think I'll probably exchange it for another one.

When I bring up the info screen I see the following:

Main Ver: BD.8.62.376
Servo Ver: H90372 (H09LGN)

I downloaded the SW from LG since it's a 150MB file. When I unzip it, the file inside is called: LG_BD_6100B33.ROM

There was no corresponding firmware file on the LG site that I could find so I had to update over the air.

When I updated the SW this time via USB stick, after the player reboot, I got the prompt for the new firmware. I was a bit worried about these things being a matched set so I initiated the download of the firmware from the player.

I find that the LG seems to use the same naming convention for all their SW updates as I guess the player recognizes only that name or something. Not sure about the firmware since I've only downloaded it once or twice from the LG site.

Just got the LG BD660 today but does not seem to recognise my USB drive's in NTFS format des this only support FAT32,
is there any way to make this multi region, and no ITV player as yet
post #1335 of 2316
As far as I can tell the BD 650 is the lowest end model with network connectivity and DLNA support. Is that correct ?
I am looking for a fairly low cost BD player for the guest room instead of having just a media streamer like the WD Live.
I already got a BD670 for the living room and so far am very happy with it. The BD 670 is actually a couple bucks less than the 650 at Amazon. I am just waiting to see if the 650 will go on sale for < 100 bucks.
I have seen the 630 for 55 bucks recently but it does not support DLNA.
I do not need Wireless or 3D for that room.

Does anyone have a good recommendation on a small (26") DLNA capable TV ?
My strategy is to save money on the TV by forgoing streaming functionality. With how quickly this technology is changing, it makes sense to buy a separate box that can be replaced every few years. The BD670 can be found for around $120.

Ok i just tried another usb hard drive a 150GB and that worked so i am thinking it does not like my 320gb hard drive
is there a limit to the hard drive size here
post #1338 of 2316
Is it a bus powered USB drive? The USB port doesn't supply enough power for some larger drives unless they are equipped with an external power supply.
THX for the reply just tried a powerd USB drive(mains powered) 500GB still no luck

Just earlier today I updated my BD670 (directly from BD itself!)

BD.8.62.382.E. (on LG site on net the latest FW is .376E)

I am not that happy with the player as OGG Vorbis audio (which is FREE!!!) is just not supported. Anyone to make a suggestion to LG for that?

Also HE-AAC v2 is also not supported by the device, which is also a shame. But for that I understand that LG probably need to pay a license for it. But OGG Vorbis audio (and FLAC) to not be supported is just pure ... (better not to write the nasty word)

Any content with such audio (mostly mkv) just do not play on the device. It only show the message "audio not supported/recognized" then nothing.

What I do find very strange is that LCD itself (LG LE5300) plays such movies no problem just with no audio.

Really, LCD itself (from the same company!!!) is way better at handling video (by files) than dedicated BD player, which is just stupid.

Another thing is that BD player do not correctly show my local letters for "avi/mkv/mp4" subtitles. How can I correct that as there is no option for it?
Just updated the software this morning via latest update. Seems like the Netflix UI is completely changed. I had to login for it to gather my user info. It now has a subtitle and audio option on some titles (not all) and also when you choose a title there is a small preview screenshot of when last viewed or the upcoming viewing. The scrolling is the only thing I dislike. I'm used to the previous UI. This latest version is 8.62.382. FYI: BD670.

I'm anxious to hear what your take is on this latest software update.

Bd.8.62.382.e.

------------------

Anyone knows, what are legal "countries codes" for DVD/BD subtitles for "Language" section under disc subtitle menu (choice "other")?

I can only enter numbers in 4 digit format. I tried 1250 as "codepage". It does not work!
When everything is working; do not do further upgrades! I just bought an used BD670 from Ebay and hopefully LG has manage to get the firmware stable enough to use as a streaming video device.

I just hope the player works! No warranty when I contacted LG on used players. Not like a car warranty-not transferable! 90 days labor warranty! Ugh!

I'm taking a risk here - $92 with shipping included but has all the accessories except the manual.

If you use a DLNA server that supports transcoding, you may be able to work around some of the limitations you described. I have used Serviio to play FLAC audio files successfully with a custom profile for the player and I believe the same is possible with OGG.

I just got the update this morning. NetFlix is now playing in DD 5.1 (for movies / shows that support it). Was this working before and I just didn't notice? Regardless, SWEET!

Haven't played with the new interface too much yet but I'm not in love with it during the 30 seconds I did use it.

I have some videos for my kids to watch on the ipad. When I play then on the ipad they have chapter markers. I just got the BD650 for Christmas, and I can play the m4v files from my home server. The problem is that I can't skip chapters. Skipping gets me to the next m4v file in the directory, no the next chapter in the current m4v.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Or have any suggestions? I'd really like to only have one version of the video that I can play on both the ipad and BD650.
