I did like I posted, re-updated since you can always downgrade IF you keep a hard copy of 382.E. As Vampidemic mentioned, some updates fix and some introduce problems. I don't mind the DVD dropouts but LG is aware of the problem(s) so will wait for next update as usual. Now where did she hide that remote lol.

Please if anyone can help me with this:

I've updated LG device with fw BD.8.97.404 - servo ver. H90377. Now having problems with playback MKV and M2TS files from DVD and USB unit with muxed subtitles - after 5-10 minutes of playing device shuts down by itself!! When I play those files from network source, everything goes fine and playback is good. Loading external subs when playing MKV files also goes fine. Funny, because I didn't have those problem with previous firmware versions.

If anyone can help me, or I just have to wait next fw version from LG and pray they're gonna fix this.

You can always downgrade the players firmware. I was going to give the link but I see they took off 382.E and posted 404.E Why? I don't know as I thought they were telling us to downgrade to it if needed. If you need 382.E I can upload it for people to get.
FYI: There are more interesting replies on that link that goes to the AnyDVD forum.

Duck, I have not done what you said about running CIFS to get my bd690 to see my PC and hd's. Sees the Internet fine, wired with linksys powerline from office to living room. It sees my HD and Directv hookups...but when I click on my PC it asks me for a CIFS Password (which I have not seen nor created) but can't get any further without that PW. Little help please.Oppps just checked again and it shows the network symbol below HDD but my pc is not listed and it skips right over it. Sorry to be such a pain but living in the backwoods of Kansas there are not a lot if any tech support guys, besides me and you guys/girls. Thanks again

You can't connect to a windows 7 pc share without a password from an external device.
That's why you have to do what i told in the last post...

Is there anyone how are having Netflix audio loss or lypsync issue..afrer 404e update? It seems like mine does
post #1809 of 2320
Yes I have that same problem but I found a way around it by pausing the video and wait a sec then play it again. Works every time. This problem only happen once in a while for me so it's no big deal.

Hi,
I converted DVD to MKV using handbrake 0.96 (I try different settings with the same result) and I have following problems (on LG BD660, play form USB):
1) Even there are 2 subtitle streams (Czech & English) I'm not able to switch them (it shows Czech even I set ENG. Switching them off works) Subtitles are OK (checked using VCL on PC)
2) There are not names of audio and subtitle streams displayed in info menu (only ENG, other streams are with no name)

Any idea?

I've been having a problem since .404e (whatever the latest is). When I try to stream some videos from my computer now I am getting a network congestion error. This will happen with TVersity or WMP. The videos play fine over the xbox. Don't know what changed but it's aggravating.

The player has the ability to enter and remember CIFS logins/passwords. Have others tried to use this functionality with Windows 7 or other operating systems? If so, what have your results been?

I use Mac OS (10.6) and though I can use CIFS with unprotected directories just fine, I get a network error when trying to access shared folders that require authentication. It seems to authenticate okay, because the player will not show me the shared folders until I enter login information, but from there I can't view the contents of the shared folders.

This happens on my BD570 as well as my BD670. Seems like this would be the easiest solution on Win 7 if it works, but it may not...

The administrator account has standard no password, so is the guest account.
A share must have a username and password, otherwise you can't connect to it from a external device. With a normal user account it should connect if this account has a password
Besides that windows 7 has a lot of security features that prohibit acces.
That's why you have to do what i told, to make sure that shares can connect and stay connected. Standard windows will drop the connection after a certain amount of time, if it's in use or not.

On server 2003 for example this is not a problem as long as the share has a password it will connect.

I have no experience with mac at all so i can't help you with that.
You can however try to make shares with a password and save the username and password in the players configuration.

Duck tried everything you told me to do but to no avail. I can send you screen shots of what I did but nothing has changed.
bskies

What is exactly happening and what is not working?
explain step by step, and remember that i didn't wrote the posted list.

Can you see your computer with the player?
Can you see a share on your computer with the player?
If you can, what happens when you connect? a error message with username and or password not correct?
Remember that the share you connect to must have a username and password. Without a password it will not connect.

Handbrake is not able to multiplex subtitles into a video file in a way that the BD660 can read. You can burn them into the video stream using the settings on the Subtitles tab.

Clearly, it can be done in a way that subtitle files are selectable streams--because I've seen ripped videos that do it--but I haven't yet figured out how that's succesfully done.

I had all kinds of problems trying to use CIFS with my BD570 and BD670. I put together a Word document with text and pictures that shows how I was able to get it to work. It's uploaded to my Windows Live SkyDrive. Take a look at it and see if it helps. After getting CIFS to work, I don't even bother with DLNA any more.

Thanks for suggestion , unfortunately problem still remained. Sent unit back to LG for third time for replacement. LG called saying they had no BD670`s in stock so they are going to refund purchase price. Too bad, was a good playet when everything worked.

My BD660 and BD670 both happily remember the login information to connect to my Win2008R2 server (running Active Directory, too) via CIFS, works great...

I have a BD-670 with the latest f/w (from the on-line update) installed.
Netflix was working fine a week ago. Since then, I've made no changes, no updates.
Two days ago, when i tried to access a show that I was watching, it displayed exactly where I left off but when I tried to play it, Netflix responded with a message stating that it couldn't play that title right now, try again later or try a different title.
It's two days later and I still get the same message, no matter which title I try to play.
I initialized the player, power cycled it, re-logged onto Netflix with the same results.
I can access you tube with no problem and i can access Netflix with my iPad, my pc running I.E., and my panasonic BDT-310 all on the same wireless network.
I wrote to LG but haven't received a response yet.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I can check on my 630 tonight as I haven't tried Netflix on the 630 yet.

Same problem here. I haven't resolved it. Rather, I gave up on my 670 and went back to my Roku. Even when the 670 was working with Netflix, I had lots of audio sync issues. Seems to me that LG just can't get it right with these players.

I tried playing a movie for a few minutes on my 630 and had no issues at all.

From users previous ? and answer: "A share must have a username and password, otherwise you can't connect to it from a external device. With a normal user account it should connect if this account has a password

You do not have to have a password if you log in to the windows user without one, just put user name in and click continue or done. I do not use a password and just used the user name and no password and got into CIFS without issue.

Here is where I stand now. I have tried the CIFS method did not work. I tried using media player to stream and did not work. Then I got a flash of an idea, turn off firewall and Avast security and see what happens....Viola...I got CIFS AND the windows player showing up on the 690 and working fine. Contacted Win Answer desk to see how to get around the firewall. stayed on for about 15 min and he says well if I would pay $99 they could fix it and was saying that dlna was not part of OS anyway. Sheesh. SO, if anyone can tell me how to get around firewall (already put media player as being able to go in and out but no workie.) and Avast...sent them an email but I have found them to be pretty lame. When I turn those two (yes, I have tried jusy turning on firewall etc, same no result) off, it couldn't work better. How him supposed to do this, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard but it seems to be. ) Thanks again, I couldn't have gotten this far without you guys.

What i'm trying to say is that normally you can't connect to a share with a blank password.
Probably due to you have edited the registry it now can connect to a share with a blank password.
I didn't know that you use 2 firewalls..That's unnecessary. Normally with only the windows firewall it shouldn't be a problem. Avast has it's own firewall.
If you remove avast totally ( and reboot) and activate the windows firewall (and reboot) can you check if it works? It should as far as i know.
If it doesn't you can make a exception in the windows firewall.

Besides that if you use a router with a firewall, then you don't need a firewall at all on a windows pc. The connection between the lg and your pc is a internal connection so i don't see the use of a firewall for that.

Ira

Customer Service gave me a procedure that worked:
1. Deactivate Netflix: Home, Setup, Network, Netflix - deactivate.
2. Initialize: Home, Setup, Others, Initialize - Factory Set.
3. Power Off the unit.
4. Disconnect the unit the from the power outlet.
5. Hold the Power Button on the unit itself for 30 seconds.
6. Reconnect the unit to the power outlet.
7. Turn the unit back on.
8. Reconfigure your Internet Connections before you go back to Premium and test Netflix.

Hope this fixes it for you.

Thanks to Duck and Bob...690 is finally running right from pc. Bob gave me the idea that Avast may be causing the conflict and that McAfee is somewhat similar to win firewall. So I blew off Avast from the pc and my provider gives me McAfee for free so downloaded and installed it. When it was installing it saw items I have going out and coming in and asked if it was ok each time, viola, saw the 690 and has been working like a champ ever since. Finally...and I can keep windows firewall out of the picture and everything else is groovy. I ordered a Harmony One...got it and touch display screen has nothing but lines and junk on it, even after installation of h/w, s/w upgrades. Their tech support is worthless and in the Philippines and after getting hung up on twice, them wanting pictures of my display, I just called sales and am getting refund. Not worth the bother, thanks to everyone for their input. If it wasn't for bad luck....

I just got a 670 player. I got it to stream Amazon. I got it set up, connected it via wi-fi and started browsing the amazon content.

Before I tried to stream anything I decided to run the update. I think the firmware update completed, I don't remember what it started at, but I am on ver H90377 now.

The software failed. I am trying to go from 351 to 404. I have tried it many times, twice it said it completed, but after it restarted, it was still on 351.

My main problem is that it wont let me even start up the premium content app without a software update. I can no longer even access the Amazon stuff.

I have tried to update it wireless and wired. I have unplugged it several times.

I'm about to return this lemon, but that is such a hassle I was hoping someone here might know how to fix this problem.

I don't know how many times you tried the update but I finally had success on my sixth attempt. It shouldn't be so hard but it works great now. Good luck with yours.

UPDATE: After two days of trying, it finally took. The player seems to be working properly now.
