I'm so f'n pumped now. Just for the record. You say it feels like MW1/2. Do you think BLOPS also felt like MW1/2? Or was that one in my head in your opinion?
I thought the HD in blops was fine. Regardless, MW3 feels like MW1/2.
Stalker is going to take some adjusting to. It just feels weird moving at full run speed with an M4. Between that and quickdraw you can basically make any AR into a long range SMG.
Ok, I'm jumping on blops to try and get this prestige done. Prob be on most of the night. If anyone feels the need to party up and dominate send me a fr. Tags in the sig ;-)

I should be on later so if you are a night owl send me a FR

Welcome back Fruitless! I'll keep an eye out for ya, maybe I'll play some BLOPS later tonight. Hard to tear away from BF3 though!
So, I've already got this pre-ordered at Newegg but I just put another through with Amazon hoping they pull another "last min $20 promo credit" like they did with BF3. BF3 posted credit two or three days before release and since MW3 is $57 right now if they do post it I'll get the discount plus the credit. If they don't post it I'll cancel it.

Are the SMGs still long range SMGs? lol, you could always snipe with them fine, and pistols, etc.

Hi bd2003, curious are you playing online or offline?
Marksman is also WAY more useful than it sounds. "identify enemy targets at longer range" makes it sound like something only for snipers. But it's not just distance, it's also seemingly radius and speed. The result is that as soon as a sliver of enemy is on your screen, their red name pops up. You definitely notice people faster. It's more of a general situational awareness perk than you'd think at first glance, judging by the description. I'm really liking this one.
You get an assist any time someone kills someone you tagged with a recon drone. Hardline pro + recon drone = win. Also if you tag someone with the perk as well, but that might just be the assist from the nade itself.
You get a streak point for shooting down anything, including UAVs. Right now, it's like UAV central cause it's default.
Support strike package is very popular - rarely a game goes by without an escort airdrop or stealth bomber...or two or three...of each. It might just be cause its the new thing that people want to try, but it seems a little too powerful that high KS like that dont reset since its basically guaranteed for any decent player in an obj game.
Overall Im really liking it so far. Weapons and perks seem balanced, maps seem good although Im totally lost. So much new stuff to get used to, but it's clear that the new IW and sledgehammer are perfectly capable of carrying the torch. I'm sure given time people will find things to gripe about, but they've gone a long way towards correcting the common grips of past games.
I doubt anyone who's looking forward to it is going to be disappointed. It's still a cod game in the same mold as the last few...but it appears to be a damn good one.

Thanks for wetting our appetites! Can you give us any feedback on weapon performance so far? I'm particularly interested in the AR and SMG's you've played with and how they relate to the feel of previous COD weapons.
This is the last thing in the world I'm interested in discussing right now.
Weapon report incoming.
I'm not interesting in gloating, I've got a $100 pre-order like many people.
You're the one person who I expect to be up front about the quality of the game
and that's why I asked.
Especially considering your bias.

I'm just saying...ask me about anything but hit detection (which is fine in MW3). Not interested in starting up that debate which inevitably goes nowhere.
Stopping power is gone, so that changes things up a bit.
M4 feels roughly the same - slightly more powerful up close, much better irons.
SCAR also feels mostly the same - has a 30 round clip though, still feels quite accurate, perhaps not as powerful as the mw2 scar.
M16 also feels mostly the same - irons slightly better, and it seems like the burst is a little slower. Not the spacing between bursts, but the shots themselves seem slightly further apart. Still can rip through someone in one burst up close.
The CM901 is all new. Imagine a scar-h w/ stopping power that's much less accurate. Or a slower firing tar21. It's definitely the most powerful rifle I've used so far, but you give up a lot for that power. Still like it a lot.
The G36 also feels very powerful - and I could be mistaken, but I swear the ADS time is a little slower on this one compared to the rest.
Haven't used the ak-47 much, but I can tell you the visual recoil is all over the place, instead of a nice vertical kick.
The type 95 feels and looks a lot like the famas, with more visual recoil perhaps.
The ACR is still a comparatively accurate rifle, but it's not the laser beam it used to be. Still great though.
Haven't touched the FAD myself yet, but I know it's personality is supposed to be low power, high fire rate. Think F2000, hopefully with manageable recoil.
The MP5 feels roughly like it did in MW1. Maybe fires a little slower..not sure. Definitely a good choice.
The UMP feels slightly nerfed at range. It's still a great gun, but maybe not the all purpose super weapon it used to be.
P90 feels similar as well, I think the fire rate might be a touch slower.
The pp90m1 is high fire rate, tough to use at a distance. Doesn't have the accuracy of the vector, it's more like the mini-Uzi.
Haven't tried the other two SMGs.
The L86, G36 and PKP all feel relatively similar to each other and like good LMGs - just haven't really dug in enough on them to comment.
And sniping just isn't my thing, but the one thing I can tell you about snipers is that they move SLOW. LMG slow. Could be slower. This is going to dissuade many a quickscoper.
And finally, so far the shottys I've used just plain suck. Most of them are hard to get a OHK with, even with a close range ADS shot. And you're dead before you get a follow up. Gonna need something stronger or more rapid fire for the class to make sense to me. Id rather have a machine pistol than the shottys I've used so far.
SCAR in MW3 should be more like the ACR from MW2 (5.56mm SCAR-L vs. 7.62mm SCAR-H). The CM901 should be the MW2 SCAR replacement.
Good info thus far.
Well, I can tell you for sure that regardless of caliber, the CM901 is nowhere near as accurate as the scar. Maybe with kick...but probably not even then.
Robert Bowling, you sonofabitch! Sure there's no nuke in MW3. Now at 25 gun kills(no killstreaks), you get the largest conventional bomb in the US inventory: The MOAB. Ya heard it from Pak 1st... or 2nd if someone beat me to it. Saw it on youtube for confirmation.
Thanks for the impressions! Sounds like the AK might be out for me if it's that bad. That has been a favorite for me on MW2 and blops. So if you were going to blow a token on an AR which would it be? Also looking forward to any feedback on the MP7.

Unfortunately, you can't unlock gear right off the bat. Locked until first prestige. All you can do at the start is get extra classes or double xp time. So save a few tokens and decide after you've tried everything.
I don't think the AK is bad...it's just different. It seems to bounce around a bit more, but so does everything else. Just to be clear though, these still feel like MW weapons - they spray as you hold down the trigger, not kick like a donkey like the blops weapons. You don't really need to burst like you do in blops.
So far the only thing I'm finding that seems blatantly unbalanced is the escort airdrop, the 18 kill support streak. It drops 4 packages (of the support variety), one fake package. And it can protect the drop for you to some degree. 18 points sounds like a lot - it can be a little tough to pull off in TDM, even without the streak reset. But in domination? You could probably do it twice without breaking a sweat - you get a point for every flag you cap, every kill you get, everything you shoot down, even assists with the right perk.
It's not really game breaking as the worst that can come out of it besides some defensive stuff is a remote turret or a stealth bomber. But how the hell did a stealth bomber get caught in the support track? I guarantee you will have to hide from several stealth bombers every game. It's not as annoying as having harriers constantly in the air, it just seems a little cheap to be earning that in support.
IMO the stealth should just be removed from that track, and the airdrop moved up to like 25 points. Nothing will probably change, and I think players will just get quickly used to the sound of a stealth and run and hide. Most of the killstreaks have been nerfed considerably. But almost no one is using the assault package. Why risk getting nothing, when you know youre practically guaranteed a stealth bomber and/or a bonanza?
Again, this could just be extra prevalent cause it's new and people want to try the new stuff. But it's def a pattern.
