Popcornhour A-210 sound quality

Thread Starter
I have just bought a pch A210 and I am playing flac files to my Pioneer LX82 (front speakers Monitor Audio GR60) in stereo mode. Setting on PCH is passthrough for all audio.

I have tried HDMI and coax connections (all good quality cables). Sound is horrible, too much bass, distortion at highs, lifeless. I get much better stereo music quality from the Airport Express, the PS3 or my cd player (nad). It is really bad.

Am I doing something wrong?

Funny-I have an A210 and play flac audio all the time and have no problems at all-you have to remember that when you decode flac you have cd quality wave audio. Just let the A210 decode the flac (set to downmix to stereo) not passthrough. I send the output of mine to my old reciever through the toslink input. Most flac is ripped from cds anyway.

turn volume down on the PCH! the Volume should be set to 0 or better in the negative Section, my experience is with mp3 best setting is -3 to -5, for wav and flac i can use -2 to +1
