Seeking HDMI + Toslink (4X2) switcher

Seeking a 4X2 (four input - two output) switcher that is for HDMI connectors. The switcher must also have TOSLINK optical output.


I have an older receiver that does not have HDMI connectors hence the need to use TOSLINK optical.

My four inputs will be:

-PS3
-media streamer
-Sony DVR
-HDTV Tuner

outputs will be:

-an LCD TV
-a projector.

I do not need to mirror the outputs - just want to be able to select either/or from LCD TV or the projector.

If the switcher has more inputs, example: 6X2, I'm good with that too

In reading various posts, a lot of folks are using one from Monoprice - unfortunately, I do not have COAX optical outputs on some devices hence the requirement for a TOSLINK optical based switcher.

any reasonable suggestions ?

Vin - The one above you recommended, it has only one output (1X4), I was looking for two outputs

It is is more money, in comparing to monoprice

Vin - Thanks for the link. I took a closer look, and it is the same exact unit that monoprice sells. I spoke with monoprice, unfortunately, the coax digital only outputs on 'ouput A'. I needed a device that outputs on A and B

The past two days, I researched the Octava (5input 2 output) and the gefen (4 input two output) units.

It was a very difficult choice as there are not any recent posts for these units so I had to base my decision on old information.

In the end, I want a switcher that will just work. Gefen 'appears' to do just that (based on the reading I did on the device) so I opted to spend more and ordered the gefen 4 input 2 output + digital output.

Once I get the unit, I will post details of my experience with the device, along with some screenshots.
