Mits HC 4000 Ceiling Mount Issue

Thread Starter
I was thinking of buying the Mit 4000 projector. I wanted to place the projector on a shelf - on the rear wall - above my rear seats. The projector would be 162" from screen. That would give me the 105-110 dia screen size I am looking for. I was reading the On Line owners manual and it looks like I would have to invert the projector - as if I was doing a ceiling mount - is that correct - since the projector normally projects the picture upward????

The owners manual says that When using the projector mounted on the ceiling,
set IMAGE REVERSE in the INSTALLATION menu
to MIRROR INVERT. See page 27.
When the projector is mounted on the ceiling,
images may appear darker than those projected in
the case of tabletop mounting. This isn't a product
malfunction.

I am concerned about the mention of a dark image vs table top mount.
Cant table top mount - picture would be too small.

You cant set it on an elevated shelf and project the image downward without inverting the projector????? May be a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for feedback - Anyone tested the brightness issue differences between table top and ceiling inverted?

It has to be inverted because the HC4000 a significant offset. If you want to shelf mount, you will need something that has lens shift, like the Epson 8350.

you also have to have it relatively close to the height of the screen when inverted since it has no lens shift. if not you will have to keystone it to death. I have never noticed a brightness issue.

The projector will have to be inverted as you discovered. My Hc4000 is mounted on the back wall about 8 1/2' up and is plenty bright. You will have no issues with brightness. Because of the offset, figure on the projector being close to a foot higher than the top of the screen image.

Just use the calculator. Plug in your screen size and it will give you the offset. Plug in your throw distance along with screen size and it will give you the foot lamberts based on best mode. By the way the offset is 12" if you are using a 73" diagonal screen. http://www.projectorcentral.com/Mits...ulator-pro.htm
