The Rolling Stones Catalog on HDtracks

I don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere in this forum, but get ready to build a Rolling Stones album collection in 176.4kHz/24-bit or 88.2kHz/24-bit audio.

https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=stones

The high-resolution PCM files were derived from direct conversions of the DSD master files.

The pricing is a bit high, especially when considering that the actual SACDs can sometimes be bought on eBay for less or not much more.

I listened to some of 12 X 5 and Through the Past, Darkly in 88.2kHz earlier this morning. The sound is very pleasing with good dynamic range (the waveforms further confirm the latter aspect). I will probably buy Big Hits this evening.

Anyway, it is good to know that many more albums/compilations will reach the site later this year.

You can't buy them for less on ebay (although you may now that these have been released). These have been extremely expensive. The buy-it-now price has regularly been $60 and up.

Maybe not new, but I've regularly seen some of the ABKCO hybrid SACDs in used condition for $30 or less. Doing a quick search shows that some are currently being auctioned with a "Buy It Now" at around that price range. I bought one used (in excellent condition) for $25 not too long ago.

Call me crazy, I bought em all last night as soon as I got the email. In 88.2 khz as my Squeezebox Touch won't go higher. Added Gaucho for chits and giggles and some classical stuff.

Haven't listened yet, but I don't own these albums anyways, so not a dupe.

Looking forward to using this stuff to break in the AKG 702's I got as a birthday present.

Hey guys, what about that statement: "...recorded in mono and available in high resolution digital..."?

Does that mean that the new recording will still be mono or did they extract and separate the 2 channels?

The mono tracks contain two channels of the same information.

For those confused (like I still am) about how the tracks have been cobbled together for the SACD releases in which this series of downloads is based on, then check out this resource of great information.

Basically, some of the current and future album downloads can seemingly be pieced together by yourself once they have all been released. In other words, some albums contain the exact same tracks that are available in other albums.

Based on the resource guide, to get all of the unique tracks as they were transferred for the ABKCO SACD releases (and consequently for these downloads), you would need the following:

*A3.2) Currently, it seems that a few of the current reissues are wholly redundant; thus,
some aren't needed from an audio standpoint. The following is the rundown:

i) Absolutely Necessary:
England's Newest Hit-makers
12x5
Now!
Out Of Our Heads! (US Version)
December's Children
Aftermath (UK)
Got Live If You Want It!
Their Satanic Majesties Request
Flowers
Beggar's Banquet
Let It Bleed
Get Your Ya-Yas Out
Metamorphosis
More Hot Rocks
The Singles Collection: The London Years

ii) Necessary, but with options:
Between the Buttons (can choose US *or* UK version, as Flowers will pick up
the slack)
Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass)
AND
Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2)
OR
Hot Rocks

iii) Unnecessary:
Out Of Our Heads! (UK Version)
Aftermath (US Version)

I understand that. What I was asking is if the new hi rez recordings are still going to preserve the mono format.
