LG 60PZ550 vs. LG 60PK750/550...or other?

I came THIS close to buying an LG 60PK750 the other day from a local supplier who had a very good price for that set. However, as I read through the threads, the PK550 might be a better fit for me (black levels and overall PQ). It's a little less expensive, too, so that's a plus! However, I was just online at an AVS participant's site and saw that the 60PZ550 can be had for about $150 more than I was going to pay for the 60PK750, and about $200 more than I would pay for the PK550. In one case I'd have to pay shipping, and in the other I'd have to pay sales tax, so it seems a bit of a wash that way, too. I can't find any formal reviews of the PZ550, and I'm curious to know if it's image quality is still superior to the PK750, the way the PK550 is/was. Does anyone know?

Since I'm down to basically those two sets (the PZ is attractive because it adds 3D (not a must-have), for a reasonable price), does anyone have any other suggestions in the "sub-$2000" range?

I'm sitting 16-17' from the screen in a room that we're about to tear out the paneling and put up sheetrock to help brighten, because it's just DARK. I realize that's a plus for watching some TV's, but not really a good environment for my kids to play in! That being said, even after the work we're planning, I still don't think the room will be super bright.

Given the distance and expected uses, size and PQ are my biggest concerns, with blacks and vivid colors being a preference. My kids and I play some games, but mostly single player (occasionally online, but nothing serious), so input lag is a concern but not a high one. My thought is that if we ever get more serious, I can put a smaller, dedicated gaming set somewhere else in the house, but this room is more for TV and movies.

Go with this years model 60PZ550 The PK 550/750/950 are all last years model and offer no streaming internet etc. Call LG and they will confirm out of the 3 TVs listed the 60PZ550 is the tv to have at the current price.

I myself almost fell into the sams club pitch as they had the 60pk550 being sold at around 1399+tax in late December now you cant find them in there stores and of course they closed out the line of them last thing you want is customers returning last years model when the newer model is out as of March 1 2011 with streaming internet to include netflix etc.

In regards to the 750 and even the 950 of the PZ line i would argue that i could get a better wifi USB wifi adapter dual band than any of the higher models will have which BTW havent really made it into local stores where im at. You can argue all day long about black levels but hands down this TV blows away any samsung out there and does side by side rival the bravia i have seen for at least 1k less.

To the novice they would notice any blacks and dont forget the 600hz refresh rate for no blur especially when playing movies with tons of motion, this isnt a junkie vizio and over the past few years LG has forced its way into main stream society with a slew of products for home entertainment and to not recognize them now as being a force tom recon with would be extremely absord to say the least in todays economy.

bottom line the 60PZ550 is casuing waves right now and even CNET is scrambling to make adjustments and for the skeptic note that last years model 60 plasma got high reviews, for the novice arguing about black levels is like arguing over 720 or 1080 very hard to tell unless you have the panasonic or kuro but pioneer is out of business and panasonic tv are way pricey simply to say you have better black levels.

No im sorry to LCD worshipers but im still with plasma !!! In addition price is argumentative calling this a sub 2k tv isnt giving it justice the 60px550 is going for 2k in santa monica with 10 percent calif tax lol so really depends on where you are shopping nobody hands down is going to compete with online shipping/.sales but i say check every company out with the BBB better business bureau stay away from those that deliv er and have crappy return policies and never ever sign a CBL without checking the tv out with a fine tooth comb i dont care if they claim curb side delivery only inspect the box and be a pain and make sure before you sign anything that it hasnt been dropped scratched etc. Its one of the main reasons why people still will get ripped off by name businesses etc is because they dont trust buying on line ... The TV is a great tv and it does blow away otehr TVs including LCDs.

For the HD dont go with cheepos glasses get the real deal i believe it calls for the LG250 glasses which range around 100 bucks dont get universal or last years model glasses, once you watch this bugger with HD and the glasses it will scare the crap out of you.,.and really wow you..

Just needs to be a cheepo usb wifi adapter doesnt have to be the LG adapter uou simply plug it in than type in your network key and your in... my netgear works i bought it for 20 bucks at AAFES on base.

Also i made a mistake in regards to last years model the PK950 does offer wifi it has a higher contrasts ratio however it doesnt have any 3d.. and its expensive as well so still the 60pz550 is the better tv also the 3d glasses can be bought from frys LG AG-S250 for like 65 bucks lol cheapest around not even flea bay can price match that

If I had to sit that far (16 feet) away from a display, I'd be looking at the Mitsu 73-inch 3-D DLP.

Yep. 16 feet spoils the whole meaning of watching HD.

I am about to pull the trigger on a 60PZ550. Does anyone know if it supports ARC so I can use with my Sony CT350 soundbar?

After way to much reading I have decided to go with the 60PZ550 plasma over the 55LW5600 LED.

Thanks for the help!
