Is this kind of overkill for a bluray player or is this really worth it? If somebody can explain, I'll probably buy one myself too! Is there any other place I can buy the Oppo for a bargain?

However, they do not show up on bright screen scenes.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are you need to demonstrate this clouding in a REAL picture scene. Otherwise, forget about it.

Received my replacement today and there were 3 dark spots left center on screen. (photo)

I ran across some anomalies that I will post after this with photos.

I put in the Spears & Munsil Calibration disc and was going through the different screen when I ran across these fluid images moving around the screen. I've been able to duplicate this weird effect twice now just by going through the different test screens on the disc. (photos)

Does anybody know what these are?

These fluid spots move around, change shape and some disappear.

If you look at GraveX's post Yesterday, 10:46 PM (with photo), mine was very similar. I was not able to capture this very well with my camera but GraveX was able to.

I'm curious, What is your picture settings when you were running these tests? What is your source and is it connected directly to the TV? How long was your TV running before you ran your tests? I've heard that you should at least warm up your new TV for awhile before running some test maybe. I'm seeing something weird on your TV and I'm not sure if it's your camera or the TV?

Other than the calibration issues, are you having any of the issues from the 1st set?

Using Custom Settings with everything turned off. Sony 3D/BD Home Theater System and another Sony 3D/BD player connected directly to the TV. Both with the same results. TV was setup (left unplugged for 2 1/2) to get it to room temp. before turning on. TV was on for an hour before I ran the initial tests and then tested again after being off for an hour and then turned on for 1/2 hour before retesting resulting in the same anomalies.

Not the camera as I see them actually moving around on the screen with my eyes. It's alive!!!

The clouding is subdued compared to the other one. You can barely notice it it the upper right-hand corner and about the same in the lower right-hand corner. Lower left is where the clouding is more pronounced but not as distracting as the previous set. But now this one has dark spots.

I think I know what they are. Try turning off motion enhancer and see if they go away. I think they are artifacts of that setting.

I have a December built 55hx929 and I have absolutely zero issues. No blooming, flash lighting, bleeding, etc... Everything is perfect.

No clouding even in tv menus or 3D/game modes? Would you mind providing a picture?

I've seen four or five photos of clouded 929's. I've yet to see one that was perfectly black in 3D/game modes.

Super. I am getting mine 1st week in Jan. I intentionally delayed because
as time goes on manufacturing defects are usually corrected. 30 yrs in
computer maintenance. I also purchased a Sony 46EX500 that will be delivered at the same time.

It was stated here that Audio corresponds to Jump.

Now in turn, I missed how the service menu is accessed in the HX925 so please tell this and what you did try there to eliminate the dse.

Need some comment. Does anyone notice dimpling/rippling or whatever to call it - around the borders outside the picture area. It appears to be a physical issue if not normal. I have not been able to capture the issue, since it is a product of refraction of light that shows the ripples that appear to be caused possibly by over tightening of the case screws. If this is observed by others it would be helpful to know. Thanks

I have noticed this, but only when looking very closely for it and the light source have to be at a specific angle to the TV.

That said, I've hooked my 55in and watched a movie last night with Rizzo's settings (thanks Rizzo), and I am very impressed! I'm no expert, but I know a good TV when I see it, and this is a very very good TV.

Thanks, that's what I see as well, tilting it a bit helps. And the 929 definitely shows more fine detail that my older 60 rear projection. It is a phenomenal toy!

Recent sets do not show up with creases and this may be a result of
the fix. Just a thought.

[quote=Victorm1000]Hello Lui:
By DSE you mean banding right?, with light colors like blue or grays you can see faint bands across the picture right? Well if that is the case i would like to get rid of them too, could you plase send me directions to access the service menu? And how do you increase the white balance to get rid of them?, by the way answering tour question, do you have an iphone or ipad? If you have one you can download the remote control app, there you can find the jump button. Another option would be to buy a universal harmony remote control and with it you can downlaod the especific button that you need from the original remote control, well i hope that can help you.

Please if you have time can you send me the procedure to access the service menu? And how do i increase the white balance? in order to get rid of the dse/banding that a lot of us see.

Well good day lui.
Victor.

TV QUESTION: do you notice dimples along the bottom edge of the face (like ripples) that might be due to how the case screws into the display. The glass is flat, but i definitely notice it in a side reflection along the borders, mainly the top and bottom. It appears to coincide with the location of the screws from internal hardware pulling from the back.

Those aren't B&W. They are Monitor Audio. They used to be power by a Sony STR-DE945 with my old CRT but now I'm looking for something new.

All of the HX929 have a slight ripple around the bezel. This is the first thing I noticed. I viewed 3 other panels and they all have this. It doesn't seem to be from the screws. Just the way it is I guess. This does not have any effect on the quality of image the TV produces.
