According to tracking from Monoprice, my new bracket and 6 high speed cables won't be here till tomorrow so I'll be wating to place on the wall.
I found out my Onkyo 807 reciever is not compatible to pass through the 3D as it is 1.3 hdmi. I will be routing everything into the tv and using digital coaxial cables for sound and hope I don't lose any quality. Thanks Jim for advice on hooking it up this way
If the sound is not the same quality as running everything through the reciever, I have a new one in mind for replacing. Anybody have or know anything about Denon AVR-4311CI? I don't want to lose my Onkyo but if I need to for sound quality I will.
Cool! I actually got in on the deal at the last minute so I'm stuck with an unknown ship-date... so hopefully it's sooner than later... but at this point I can still cancel the order if I get buyers remorse (i.e. Wife beats me to submission)
Be sure to let us know what you think of the TV! I have visited two different Best Buy locations multiple times trying to get a good look at this beast, but every time I go, the TV is either off, or stuck on the title screen of a random DVD/BD that someone never pushed play on (and of course, no employees in the Magnolia section to be found). I'm to the point of making a trip the closest Sony Style store (Dallas - Galleria area) to get a better idea of it.
I was stuck between this set and the Sammy 55D8000, and every time I see the D8000 I still think the PQ is really nice, so hopefully I made the right choice (though general consensus in this thread is that HX929 is in a league above the D8000 anyways)
EDIT: Someone asked a few posts back with no response so I will try; are there any other hidden reviews out there for this thing? I read Chad B's (excellent review, by the way), but it looks like CNET hasn't done one yet. Maybe foreign sites that we could use Google Translate on have one?
EDIT 2: Just got an email from Crutchfield telling me that they don't know when the TV will be available, and that it could be up to 60 days out! Yikes... The email had some discount offers on 55HX729 and 55HX820 but no where near the same magnitude as the discount (price mistake?) on the 55HX929 deal. I hope Crutchfield isn't just stalling until everyone cancels their order haha
