Agreed! I know I said earlier that I was patiently awaiting reviews......well I lied I am desperate to hear how this TV performs!

I don't mean to sound like a whinging child but I need to know! Lol.

A NX810. I also love this TV, but I would prefer the matte and better speakers (XBR4) in my viewing environment.

It's crazy how people already own the Sony 929 yet there are still no reviews from any major sites on it yet.

Do any of you feel that the 929 line as a whole is overpriced?

maybe the MSRP is high but not sure if it's much higher the the Samsung D8000. Plus the markup is big and most people have gotten a good discount (mine was almost $1k) from places other than sonystyle.

Did people confirm no glasses are included? That's the only other thing that adds to the price discrepency compared to the Samsung. $300 for 2 pairs of glasses.

How do you guys get such discounts? i can't see stores I frequent like Best Buy or Future Shop dropping it by the that much.

i think he's exaggerating and is likely referring to the ~$3100 pricing that ABT had a few months back. not quite $1000 off but close.

no, they gave me lower than that, but I'm also a repeat customer. I bought my sxrd tv and other appliances from them so that may have helped. Abt is also one of Sony's biggest retailers.

Thanks again for sharing your experiences, glad you are enjoying the set.

here you go, also a macro shot of the screen. no problem by the way!

nickthenewkid24:

Do you see any clouding, banding, flash lighting, haloing on your unit during black screen or anytime?

Can the local dimming be turned off?

nickthenewkid24:

Thanks for the updates, look forward to the video!

I have just a couple of quick questions!
1) 3D performance, how is the set for crosstalk!? I've seen some Sony TV's at my local Sony centre and they demos were crosstalk nightmares! How does your 929 handle?

2) How is the motion handling if the set? Any problems that end?

I look forward to more information as the days pass! Hope you do an in depth analysis!?!

minimal clouding in corners on homescreen (barely noticeable at all) haven't noticed it anywhere else so far, no banding, no halo effect so far either. when screen goes black its black. in video i show a scene from harry potter with their wands in the darkness.

yes you can turn off the LED Dynamic control which adjusts brightness in individual sections.

1. very minimal crosstalk especially after about 15-30 minutes of set being on. also i have noticed if you change 3D depth settings it tends to help sometimes. I havent really been bothered by it all though on this set so far unless i really want to look for it. usually with dark object on light background.

2. motion handling looks amazing. no complaints from this so far

in a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate the uniformity of the TV ?
My set seems to have 'settled' and I'm not getting the flashlighting that I was yesterday irrespective of backlight setting. I still need more viewing time to be sure this is the case. In any event, I love the monolithic look. When the image is bright, glare is minimal. Viewing angle seems wide to me. 3D is sharp and crisp as mentioned. I'm currently watching broadcast tv under the general scene custom pre-set and it looks great. Of course I'm certainly open to further calibration. Does anyone know what the eco power settings (off, high, low) do? I can't find a detailed explanation. Thanks.

Just got an email from ABT rep and she said that Sony has informed them delivery of the 929 has been delayed until middle of May.

I think Sony kept initial production to themselves (sonystyle).

Cool and how is your sony 929 doin with the lag, hoping good
post #356 of 15535
Can anyone tell me what the response time is?
dude if someone knew they'd answer your. you've asked 3 times now with no answer and that's because manufacturers don't really post response times for the higher end tvs so no one knows.

i'd imagine its either 6 or 8ms though.
nickthenewkid24 I don't recall you saying but are you getting your 929 professionally calibrated or will you be doing it yourself!?

Also, any ETA on when your video will be on YouTube?
Instead of the quick video I made earlier, I am going to do a more comprehensive video tonight hopefully answering more questions for all of you. Stay posted for the link maybe by 9 or 10 central tonight
