This I did not know and makes the 350 much more valuable to me. Thanks!

The issue I'm talking about is different than yours. I have no problem connecting and streaming from all sources. But Panasonic and Netflix are working on an issue where the screen goes blank when speed/resolution changes. Being unable to connect at all is a different issue that likely isn't a panasonic bug. FWIW, I have seen other reports of people not being able to connect through an Airport router. So perhaps it's still some setting in the router that's the culprit.
I can connect to Netflix, but audio is warbly on the TV (ST30) -- oddly because it's fine on the Blu-Ray (210). Panasonic gave me the same run-around, to Netflix and back, and now wants me to check that ports 80, 443, and 48705 are open.

Has anyone gotten any further with this? Thanks.

Victor

DMP-BDT210
5 devices listed in my netflix devices page (but not the 210)

I spent 50 minutes on the phone with Panasonic and several hours (mostly on hold) with Verizon last night. Panasonic had me restore factory presets, zero out my watchnow queue, and add titles from both the player and my computer. Everything works except the actual streaming. He was working from a script, and gave no indication that this is a "known" problem. He then asked me to go to yougetsignal dot com and check if ports 80 (http), 443 (https/ssl), and 48705 (streaming??) are blocked-- they were. He told me to ask Verizon to unblock them and call back today.

Verizon says they *never* unblock port 80, unless you have a commercial account with static IP address. I think there is confusion about inbound and outbound, and what Verizon is doing is blocking me from running a webserver. Anyhow, the Verizon tech suggested that the NAT/firewall in the Airport express was blocking the ports, and that I set up a DMZ with port forwarding for the player (this is what xbox gamers do to get certain games to work through). I gave the 210 a static IP address (10.0.1.253), forwarded ports 80, 443, 48705, and it still didn't work. yougetsignal dot com still reports these ports as blocked, so either I need to do some other step, or this has nothing to do with the real problem.

Request: could people on this forum please go to yougetsignal dot com and report back with the status of ports 80, 443, and 48705, and if netflix streaming is working or not? Thanks!

Are those ports open? Which ISP and what type of router are you using?

I checked those ports for you and all 3 of 'em show blocked. This is with a Westell router/DSL gateway from CenturyTel. Other than the occasional "black-out" problem my Netflix works great. My 210 is using the latest firmware--1.59? Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I'm using firmware 1.59 as well.

(I know I'm replying to an old message here, but wanted to chime in with my firmware update problems on my new BDT210)

I think the problem with the early firmware that the 210 units are shipping with is related to WIRED network connections. I too was able to successfully connect wirelessly and update the firmware. I had first tried via a wired connection and it didn't work.....it kept getting assigning itself a 169.x.x.x address instead of picking up a 10.x.x.x address from my router.

When I switched to wireless, it joined my network just fine with a 10.x.x.x address and I updated the firmware. With the latest firmware, the wired connection now works and correctly pulls down a 10.x.x.x address from my router.

I just talked via email with Panasonic and they claim Netflix and Panasonic are working on the Netflix issue(s). We'll see.

Hi,

I just bought the Pana 110 player. However, my projector Mitsubishi HC3000 auto set resolution to 1080I which cause some flicker on the Pana setup screen. HC 3000 can only do 720P max so why does it set to 1080I?

Is there a way to set the Pana player to output 720P when playing discs?

I own the 210.

I have verizon DSL here in NYC and all ports are blocked.

My Netflix works and version 1.59 and hardwired. Haven't tried the wireless
yet because my router is near my bluray player . Until I rearrange things this weekend I can't test the wireless.

Using the D-Link as the modem...Model 2640b

Router- Netgear WNDR3700

No problems at all but I only streamed 3 movies since I got it Friday.

I have a 3D .mkv file that is "over-under", are the Panasonic players able to play them and still properly show 3D, or is it more a feature of the TV/display device?

By the way, where is BDT-310? I have been waiting for this to come out.
Were you able to stream with your previous bluray/dvd player ?

If yes tell them that and these very same ports were closed ....so it can't be the ports. Well it
can't be the ports because others and I have netflix working and our ports are blocked.

If this is your first bluray player can you swap it out with another player (From friend or family) and test the netflix? This way you can
rule out the panny bluray player.

This is my first blu-ray player, but I stream netflix on my laptop all the time. My theory is that the ports are blocked when nothing is running, but there is some sort of handshake that unblocks the port when the computer requests it. I know from friends that do a lot of multi-player internet gaming that in the past they had to do port forwarding on their routers/firewalls to get multi-player to work, but with the more recent routers/firewalls it just works. So perhaps the 210 doesn't do this handshake just right (a timing issue perhaps)? This could explain why it works for some people but not others.

Or maybe it's something totally different.

No it can't block and unblock ports on it's own and ports should have nothing to do with streaming Netflix. With gaming it's completely different. Ports have to be opened within your router.

With that being said I have no issues with Netflix going through a D-Link router and then through a D-Link switch. Didn't have to open any ports.

Are you having this problem with both wireless and hardwired ?

You got it wrong. Consumer routers typically only do one-way blocking, e.g. block incoming traffic that's not initiated from inside. You will have to purchase a business grade router to have outgoing ports blocked. Otherwise, all outgoing ports are fully open. Netflix is using the connection from your player to Netflix server, hence there should be no problem with ports not open.

You only need open incoming ports with certain (rather old ) games. Modern games and gaming consoles to UPnP to automatically forwards ports they needed dynamically.

So, no, it is probably not a port issue. Didn't configure wi-fi correctly, probably yes. Or the router's DHCP functionality may not play well with the player's networking. There are millions of variables in this.

I haven't tried wired, but other people are having the same problem with wired connections, so I don't think that's the issue. Everything on the network works- browsing the netflix queue, rating titles, Picassa, YouTube... except streaming the video. And the bdt210 is not showing up in the "manage devices" page at netflix, which makes it seem like the problem is with the bdt210 logging in.

Assume the player does support your particular mkv file (that's a big if), it will be TV's job properly display the picture in 3D. You will have to manually set your TV to display top/down 3D mode.

Figure I should add to the data. I have a 110 hardwired to a D-link 655. Netflix titles begin to load but always terminate after about 3 seconds. I also picked up a Panny TV with networking: it works perfectly with netflix, and it provided a activation code, so it shows as an activated device @ netflix.
The 110 doesn't require a code; Netflix support said it must be activated since I could log in, yet it doesn't show up in my devices. And it doesn't stream netflix (other services work fine).
Panny has been working with me for a few days and just escalated the case.
I'll update as the situation progresses.
Seems odd that one product works and the other doesn't on the same network.

I can't recall the process for registering my 110 with Netflix but it certainly does show up in my list of registered devices, as "Panasonic FULL HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Players: DMP-BDT110/210/310 and Home Theater Systems: SC-BTT268/270/273/370/770" (everything else is "PC", "PS3 System", "Microsoft Xbox 360", etc).

mine's also listed like that on the netflix site. the registration for the 110 (i'm guessing the same for 210) is a little different than i'm used to for these a/v components...with the 110, you enter your email/password to register the device. most others will generate an alpha-numeric code that you enter on the netflix site, and it'll find your internet-connected device, and register it.

I tried to access the site this morning, but got an error message stating that the site was down or unavailable.

My guess is that these newly introduced models are becoming more widely known and available, thus the number of rebate submissions is going up rather suddenly so the turnaround time won't be as fast as was reported earlier in this thread. Still, the rebate progress should at least be entered/updated on their status site.

If you say you are a new user it will give you an alphanumeric code. At which point you can create a netflix account and start a new trial, and if you try to login to the new account it will tell you that you have not started your new trial. I did not feel like testing it, but it looks like a glitch, and if I had wanted to I spectulate that it would have allowed me to exceed the month trial, as the account officially said the trial had not started.

However, if you say you already have an account you simply log in and the device is automatically registered.

I know because this is my third device and inadverdantly created two netflix accounts. Going to return anyway, the fact that it only suports HD streaming and USB in AVCHD is a killer for me.

Same here. I filed a complaint with the FTC:

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.go...d.aspx?Lang=en

And also emailed panasonicrebates@acbcoop.com asking where my Avatar Blu-Ray was. CC' yourself, and include in the email that you are, in fact, CC'ing yourself so you can reference it with your Federal Trade Commission Rebate Fraud Case, and include your case number in the email as well (once you fill out the online FTC Form).

I don't know the DLNA streaming story, but I just played a sample of a BD rip from a USB flash drive on my 110 and it worked perfectly. It was 720p24, 5.4 Mbps AVC with a 1.5 Mbps DTS soundtrack and an English subtitle track in an MKV container, and not prepared with this device in mind. I played it and got a great picture with DTS bitstreamed to my AVR and I could turn the subtitles on and off.
