thinking about the 110.

Not overly familiar with SD memory cards... any recommendations for the Panny? SD or SDHC? Size and read/transfer speeds needed or accepted by the Panny?

I was looking at the Sandisk Extreme III class 10 (30 MB/s) at 4 GB. Somebody on the Blu-ray Forum recommended going with Class 10 memory for faster BD-Live performance.

Anyone have another opinion?

Thanks!

Thanks for posting that. I did a web chat and got the $26 refund as well. Amazon's main 310 page still showed it at noon at $249.99, but under "new and used" the Amazon Prime price was indeed $223. Again, thanks for posting this.

They would have credited you automatically tomorrow. They don't adjust pricing until after the end of business day (of release) on pre-orders, because they price could always drop again later in the day.

BDLive requires 1GB minimum of storage. Actual requirements depends on how many stuff you need to download. Player will automatically erase old content if space is needed.

For SD cards, anything 2GB or less is called SD. Anything 4GB to 32GB is called SDHC (High Capacity).

There is no need to waste your money on that. Your biggest bottleneck of BDLive is the speed of the internet for downloading and how busy the studio's server was at the time. It was quite often that the first day a bug title hits (like Transformer 2), everybody stuck in BDLive download for 30min or more (for downloading some worthless quize) before you can watch your movie.

BDLive is worthless and doesn't deserve the extra expense and effort to make it work. A lot of BDLive movies are also not authored correctly. If not for Netflix and firmware updates, I'd like to unplug all my BD players off the network so that I don't have to wait forever everytime I put in a BD disc.

Pre ordered mine on the 15th (for the $223 price from Amazon) shipped today should have it on the 19th. Had to work to find the link because I was only seeing the page for the" Video&Audio Center" @ $249...confusing! If you look at the page for the 310 it now shows being sold for "224.99 by Onecall" if you look below that where it says "3 new from 223" and click it it will show the amazon link for $223 and the other 2. Still doesn't have a direct link to the amazon page...weird. Sad thing is I just recently bought a BDT100 off ebay for $70...oh well the price of impatience I guess...will be nice to have 3D with full HD sound though, only have a 1.3 Onkyo so need the 2 HDMI outputs on the 310. Thank you Panny!

You've seen the Amazon page--the price displayed on the page will (generally) be the cheapest price+shipping from a dealer who has the item in stock. Amazon's not showing themselves as having it in stock right now, saying "Usually ships in 4-6 weeks".

So the Panny players clearly turn off analog audio outs (and analog video) when 24p is "on" with the player connected to the display through HDMI. The solution is to turn 24p off, but then you sacrifice PQ with BluRay discs. What about this, a digital to analog audio converter? Should be able to hook up digital audio out, and use the converter to connect to analog audio inputs on a stereo. But outputs PCM only (is that bad?).

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

I thought it's important to sort this out once and for all for other owners who will face the same problem if they want to use analog audio outs, and for potential buyers who want to use analog audio outs who should know about this issue before buying.
I wish they just remove all analog outputs, both audio and video, to save everybody the troubles It makes no sense to me that the analog audio, such a simple thing to implement ever since the first DVD player, will break when 24p is enabled. But again, most ppl don't even care to hook it up, including Panny's own QA.

It only needs to be as fast the the Mb/s requirements.

Consider this, most internet videos are anywhere from 1.5-6 Mb/s

The highest quality blu rays are about 50Mb/s

30MB/s is 240Mb/s

Your internet can not handle 240Mb/s and BD Live does not come anywhere near to requiring 24Mb/s, and your movie is not in 24Mb/s online...therefore, you are not going to see any improvments at all.

In fact, the data transfer rates for BD Live-being primarily text-is going to be such that a class 2 can handle it with no problem, and you will see absolutely no benefits whatsoever from going from class 2 to class 10. It is not a matter of opinion or theory, but one of math.

Not me.

Not having composite outputs (and can output simultaneously with HDMI) is one of my "deal breakers" on a device. That may change eventually, but not for a few years.

I actually found one tonight at Best Buy as well. They only got 3 and I picked one up. The manager said it was a Magnolia only item (saw the 110 and 210 out on the regular floor) and he had to go back to the secret squirrel room to get it. He had a demo hooked up to the Panasonic flagship TC-P65VT30 and it looked beautiful. I was beginning to think this thing was gonna end up being vaporware. It's really a smaller unit than the 350 I had and my HD-XA2 towers over it. It's about the same size as my LG BD670. It is super fast; probably the fastest blu-ray player I've ever seen. The picture is absolutely beautiful. The dual HDMI's appear to run flawlessly and work great with my Onkyo 805. I am very pleased with this purchase and has to be my favorite BD player to date. Hopefully I'll get to dig a little deeper into the player soon. There are a ton of options in the sub menus and the newer Viera Connect features seem to work much smoother than the old Viera Cast and I like it much better. Here's a couple of pics for those interested in the player:

Besides the duel HDMI's and price is there any other differences with the 210 and the 310?

I believe that the 310 has the new 2011 version of Viera Cast, like the 110 and 210. Viera Connect looks like it at the top, but is endlessly upgradeable through an app store. AFAIK, Viera Connect is only available on televisions this year (you can see some info and video clips of Viera Connect here in an article at pcworld.com).

My apologies. It is the upgraded Viera Cast instead of the Viera Connect. I should have clarified. The whole interface is different than last year's BD players. That top level menu is the startup screen. You can either press up on the remote to get to Viera Cast or press the dedicated Viera Cast button on the remote. It all just runs a lot smoother than my 350 did.

That's so funny.

I've done some searching on this thread and didn't spot anyone else who's had this problem.

I went through the wireless network setup on the 210 and it quickly found my network and connected. All the tests were a 'pass'. When I tried to do a firmware update, I got a 'Cannot connect. Please confirm network connection and settings.' message.

I have a Motorola SBG900 cabel modem/wireless router, and I have 4-5 other devices connected to it wirelessly without any problem. I talked to Pany tech support and they said I needed to call Comcast and have them open ports 48705, 443 and 80. I called Comcast, and they said I needed to call Motorola. Called Motorola and they gave me a link that explained how to do port forwarding. I looked at the network info on the 210 and it said the IP address was xxx.xxx.x.16, so I set up the 3 ports to be forwarded to that address. I'm still getting the 'Cannot connect' message.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Anybody else notice a change in the netflix app lately? My recently played list is nowhere to be found, and the blank flashes during speed/resolution changes seem to have subsided (may still be too early to tell).

Interesting on the DMP-BDT310 instruction manual. I'm not at home at the moment, but was trying to look up the 310 manual in PDF format. Panasonic USA site lists the 110 and 210 as using the same manual, but Panasonic UK lists the 110, 210 and 310 as using the same manual. I can't find a US 310 manual online with a quick search. Here's the link to the two.

UK Manual listing the 110, 210 and 310

US Manual listing just 110 and 210

Yes--I noticed that yesterday. What does it say on the cover of the paper manual that came with your 310?

I didn't have any blank flashes last night either. Not sure if it was my lucky day, or that they resolved the issue. Let's hope its fixed.

Just found one right now in Austin, Tx. Was going to buy a 210 but found the 310 under the 210's. Gonna hook up tonight after work.

One more pic of the remote for those who don't have any of the units. Notice the dedicated Netflix, 3D and Skype buttons. Nice.

Those ports just need to be open. They don't need to be forwarded. Unless you have a super secure router that closed all outgoing ports by default (like some enterprise router), they are open already. Port 80 is HTTP and 443 is HTTPS. If those two are not open, your PC will never be able to browse the internet.

Your issue is probably related to DNS configuration or some other networking issues.

Last night I streamed a foreign film from netflix. First I started to stream it from my new VT30 (first time streaming from the plasma). PQ was not as sharp as it should be, including the subtitles, and when there were 2 rows of subtitles, the bottom row was partially cut off and difficult to read. I therefore switched to stream the movie from my 110. PQ was considerably sharper and more high def looking, and the subtitles were easier to read (sharper and not as cut off on the bottom). I will only stream from the BluRay player from now on. Either it has better processing, or receives higher resolution from netflix (or both).

I've never noticed any sort of light on the front panel. Also, the text display is always very dim.
