New firmware. Any ideas what it fixes?
No idea. Download was so slow it timed out and went back to the home screen. I'll try again.

S~

Much better second time around. Update finished.

There are no release notes 1.68 on the North American page yet and I forgot how to get to the Asian counterpart to that page, which sometimes has that information earlier.

Thanks for posting that--I'd assumed that it finished the first time and it hadn't. I'll have to remember to check the version in future.

Downloaded fine the first time but took forever to install and reboot.

Thanks to all here who provided help with settings, etc.

Has anyone had a chance to compare this to the newer Sony blu ray players, such as the S580 and S780? I can't decide between the Panny 210 or Sony BDP-S780. For some reason, I get the feeling that the new Sony players are not selling as well as the 2010 models. Is Pandora, Hulu Plus or Vudu available on the Panny 210 or will it be in the future?

Is it a DLNA server? I thought the built in DLNA server was in WMP, not WMC?

Pandora and VUDU have been on it since day one, along with Netflix, CinemaNow, Amazon VOD, YouTube, Picasa and some Fox Sports news thing (non-video); recently a player for a video service from Sears/Kmart called "AlphaLine" was added. Whether or not Hulu Plus will be added is unknown. Panasonic TVs with "Viera Connect" (as opposed to the Viera Cast suite on these BD players) have Hulu Plus. Viera Connect has an app market with numerous toys, including videogames.

I personally bought my BDT110 because I liked the Viera Cast Amazon VOD player and it was the cheapest product featuring Viera Cast. It's become my current favorite VUDU and Netflix player as well.

yes.....however, DLNA device pulls off of your network via the MEZZMO server software. the 210 did not transcode all of my files without mezzmo server even when they were the same format for some odd reason.

Anyone try tversity? Is that the same thing?
Edit: Sorry, I just found another thread where people with single digit post counts were talking up this product on the premise of getting it for free,
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1266969

It costs $25-$30

Also: Tho we didn't have the Samsung BD players long, they never did it.

As network devices, the Panasonic [123]10 players are good BD players

Jim

I asked Panny about this issue and this is what they said:

Thank you for your inquiry.
Please reset this unit to its default setting as follows:

1. While the unit is off, press and hold [OK], [b] and [Y] on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. - ?00 RET? is displayed on the unit's display.
2. Repeatedly press (right) on the remote control or [POWER on the unit until ?08 FIN? is displayed on the unit's display.
3. Press and hold [OK] on the remote control or [OPEN/CLOSE] on the unit for at least 3 seconds.

We hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you for contacting Panasonic.

I downloaded 1.68 update (did take quite a while) and watched Netflix video last night before I got this advice. However, there was no blinking. I am not sure I need to reset the device since 1.68 seemed to fix the problem.

Same here. After it agonizingly slowly got to the 98% downloaded part, it complained that the download was halted and rebooted.

I'll try it again later today, I suppose.

Said it before and I'll say it again: As a network device: "Mediocre" is the best grade I could possibly give it, and that's being generous.

110/210/310 compared to last years models in terms of PQ and AQ?

Ive got last years 350 BD player, will I notice any difference in PQ or AQ compared to the newer 110/210/310 players? All the netflix stuff doesnt interest me, just PQ and AQ.

thanks in advance

Okay, so I've posted on here a few times about handshaking issues. Well, I reset my settings (blue, yellow, and OK and then scrolled over to 04PRG). This seems to have fixed the handshaking issue, but now I've lost DTS HD. All I can get is DTS Surround. I'm afraid that if I do it again, I'm going to get the handshaking issues back. Anybody got an idea of what I can try? I've got the 210.

YMMV

3 min for wireless download 4 min for firmware update. All settings saved.

I don't see any change in the mkv stuff, save the audio seems better buffered.

Apologies if this has been discussed already, but I am having an issue with bitstreaming to my Yamaha RX-v667. The info shows that that it is only receiving the DTS core from the DTS HD MA track. The proper track is selected on the disc and the receiver is set to Straight. Is there a default setting in the 210 player that I might have missed that would cause this? Other than setting the player to bitstream obviously.

They may have fixed the "black flash" Netflix problem. I played around with it last night during prime time (when contention should have been high) and didn't see any, but I also didn't notice it shifting to other encodes to compensate so bandwidth on my connection might have just been stable. I'll give it another try this afternoon.

BTW, where did you get that release note?

Do you have Secondary Audio on or off? It needs to be off to get DTS HD MA.

I'm still on the old firmware and saw a lot of flashes last night. Your report sounds encouraging.

Last night I was switching back and forth watching Netflix between the 310 and my Panasonic 60GT30 plasma, and it seemed to me that the picture on the 310 was slightly more crisp. Does this make sense? Is it possible that one unit would be better at streaming the Netflix signal? Or is it just that the Netflix picture seems to vary a little bit from time to time and I just happened to be a little worse when I was on the TV?

Alas, it was a false hope. I just watched something and there were a few flashes at the very beginning.
Crap. This is what, the 3rd or 4th firmware? It's pretty clear by now they have no intention of fixing the blank flashes.

smitty,

I've seen multiple reports of panasonic player streaming looking better than their tv streaming. I have no idea why that would be, but it seems to be common.

Sorry, my mistake. I was referring to Slacker radio, not Pandora. Is this or Hulu Plus coming soon?

Never heard of Slacker Radio and whether Hulu Plus is coming or not is unclear. It's a closed suite of apps--if anything gets added, Panasonic has to add it and publish it in a firmware update. Sorry.

Is it DLNA friendly or can you get access to all of your movies through your panny? The issue with the panny's DLNA is transcoding the movies via the panny's DLNA. For some odd reason the panny's DLNA features don't work well with none DLNA software.

Yes, Netflix streaming PQ on my 110 is very noticeably better than on my VT30.
