Official Panasonic DMP-BDT110/210/310 Owners Thread - Page 115

I recently purchased BDT210 and having issues streaming Netflix videos. I am seeing black screen flashing for a second and the video continues. This happens every few minutes. Has anyone had any luck resolving this issue? The firmware is upto date.

Thanks for your response.

Some newbie just created a thread to discuss the NetFlix black flashes. I'll never understand why new forum members are allowed to start threads.

Gotta kick em outta the nest sometime.

Thanks for checking for me. Must not exist.

Another thing I've noticed is that some BD menus are really extremely laggy/sluggish as compared to my old BDP-S580. Mad Men comes to mind where everything is extremely slow when moving through the menus. Any setting that I can adjust for this? frankly, i expected comparable performance between the S580 and the BDT210 and am somewhat disappointed.

It's in the Player Settings "Other" menu, unless the last firmware update wiped it out. See pages 29-33 in the manual

If you see a thread that you would like to have a moderator review you need to use the report post function located in each and every thread. We are volunteers and can not review each thread before it's posted. But, if you use the report post function, it sends an email to our private address and we can then review the post and/or thread.

The fact that it was merged into the master thread within 30 minutes after it was posted is not unreasonable in response time by a moderator taking action against a "non-offensive" (non-reported) thread.

I didn't ask you to review each and every thread, I asked for a cooling off period for new posters before they can create new threads. You already have a policy like that concerning the ability to post links.

1) Again, if you see a post or thread report it.

2) He's not a new member, he's been a member for 4 years

3) If you would like to make suggestion on operational issues, please use our AVS operation forum

Thanks

There must be some confusion between "Quick Start" and "Auto-Play." The former is available under the "Others" menu, while there exists no way to adjust the auto-play function.

Thanks, but it's not in the manual or on the player. Never was, according to the manual.

EDIT: Posted the same time as kellte2. Yes, the OP and I are talking about Auto Play, for which there is no setting.

Has anyone contacted Panasonic regarding this? Not sure if I had seen if Panasonic had been contacted or not.

I will do so and get back to everyone here.

I went ahead and compared my copy of Step Brothers (similar style menus to Mad Men) with my OLD BDP-BX2 and the BX2 ran circles around the BDT210 in terms of menu performance. Seems like everything is a trade off with these things.
From Cnets review the menu system seems to be.slower then a lot of players, but the.startup up is extremely fast. It may have to do with the lack of internal memory. Has anyone tried using an SD card to see if performance is enhanced at all.
I have a 1GB SD card in my 110. I don't really notice a difference.
Whether it speeds it up or not, it's advisable to slip some memory into the SD card slot. Lots of BD-J discs have things that they can do if there's some persistent store available and I don't think that this player has any if there's no SD card. (Take the discs which remember where you were and offer to resume when you put it back in the player)

This is good advice just in case a studio ever makes worthwhile BD-Live content. As for the menu/processing speeds being slower than my 2+ year old player, that old Sony didn't have on-board memory either.

I phoned in to Panasonic and the tech advised me to go for a replacement with Amazon. I'm interested to see if the issue persists with a different unit.

My xbox connected to it effortlessly earlier this year. A young relative came by last night and played with settings on my computer, router and player and still couldn't make it work. Any ideas?
This may be due to the firewall/antivirus on you pc. Make sure you have made panny blu ray as "trusted" in your network. In Norton there is a setup do that. I don't know about other virus/firewalls. I had faced similar issue when connecting my AVR(Denon) which was also DNLA enabled. So I remembered. If that's not the issue then I don't know.

I read on one of the thread that if 24p is enabled then it does not transmit analog so I switched it off but still no sound. I played around with the sound setting combinations and nothing seem to get the sound out. I was going to connect the blu ray directly to the TV to see if the sound comes that way but before I do i wanted to check if anyone faced similar issue and what was the fix. I think I read on this (or some other forum) on similar issue but now I can seem to find that. If anyone faced similar issue and fixed please help. Gadget gurus please help.

thanks.
Any help or ideas?

Thanks.
I was just stuck on trying to enter text in the top level text box since I was able to input numbers and other strange characters by using the remote.
Sorry to bring this back up but I have a similar issue. New 110 and can't get signed into netflix. Hit OK virtual keyboard comes up but can't navigate the keyboard with the directional arrows. Any tips?

I had the exact same question. I always leave a Blu ray disc for my kids to watch quickly and whenever I start to watch netflix/youtube the disc starts and i have no option to stop/exit it (It could be the disc "operation not allowed"). I have to eject the BD and then try netfix (such a pain). I explored the menu options with no luck. So I was happy when someone reported its in the menu. But as most noted here it isn't in the menu. I would be amazed if it does not have it as an option somewhere.

As far as I know. I really don't know much about that, but my xbox can access the windows media center and last night on the player, my cousin tried to manually access a file and it still wouldn't work. He went back and forth between the player and the computer for over an hour with no luck. I have now noticed a phone # for Panasonic support so I am going to give them a call tomorrow when I have more time (and free cell phone minutes too).

The tv must be authorized at the pc you're connecting to, should pop up a message. You also must have a version 11 or greater ms media player that has been actually set up to share with your devices. Instructions in the manual and online.

I discovered something on the "Auto-Play" front. As is common, the device has 3 discrete power remote codes, being Power-On, Power-Off and Power-Toggle. The latter is mapped to the POWER button on the remote and is the action of pressing the POWER button on the player itself. It doesn't matter how you turn it off (Power-Off, Power-Toggle), if you use the discrete Power-On code to turn it on (instead of Power-Toggle), it will always return to the menu. If you use Power-Toggle with a disc in the drive it will try to start it (or come up in that "Press Play to start the disc" dialog). Note that this is only true when "Quick Start" is set to "ON"; with "Quick Start" set to "OFF" it will try to play the disc no matter how you turn the power on.

Of course, I only know this because all three power remote codes are in the BDTx10 device definition for Harmony remotes. If you don't have a Harmony, I don't know how you'd get the discrete codes programmed into your remote.

My goal is to be able to stream mp3s to my BDT-110 using my laptop with Windows Media Player or J River Media Center, which kicks ass by the way as the best player. This way, I can listen through my stereo since my receiver is directly connected to the DVD player via HDMI. I'm actually able to do this on my Panasonic ST30 plasma TV without a problem, but I'd rather not have to have my TV powered on while listening to music.

When using J River Media Center, it's able to detect both my TV and BDT-110 as DLNA devices. However, I get an error when trying to stream MP3s to the BDT-110 even though streaming photos works just fine. If I try the same thing in Windows Media Center, an error comes up saying something to the effect of a missing codec. Shouldn't this player be able to stream audio (e.g., MP3s) if it can do video and photos? I already updated the firmware to the latest version...I hope I'm just missing something. Thanks.

Quick question for you guys... CNET stated in their review that the 210 performed rather poorly in the picture benchmark. Have the picture issues been resolved by newer firmwares since the date of the review?
I must have a defective BDT-310 - it works well in native 3D but the 2D-"3D" converter skips/stutters with dvd and failed completely on 2D Blu-Ray layer of the Imax "Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D" (Monoprice's 3d Creator had no trouble with this video) - have others here had problems with the built-in 3d converter sticking?

I searched and found some info on Netflix issues but nothing for my problem.
Anyone else have this problem? Does this thing have a bug and need to be returned?

Other than taking forever to type everything in, I had no issues... until I started watching Netflix and that has been covered throughout this thread. If Netfilx is important there are players that handle it better.

If there is a way to reset the player, I would try that before returning it.
