Hi guys,

does anyone know how to go back to a previous firmware on the 210?

1.70 has rendered my HDMI switcher useless for 3D titles - it worked fine with 1.68!! So I'd like to roll back if it's possible.
Any help would be really appreciated

Not possible. Could you explain a little further?

Thx,

DRHANKZ,
According to Panasonic, there is NO way to disable the auot on/off switch.

How long does it take for the rebate status to be in Panasonic system? I know most people have their copy of the movie in about 6 weeks. I have tried to check on the status, but nothing ever comes up.
I've gotten 2 Avatar discs and neither ever showed up on the status page. I got each one in about 4 weeks (and sold each within a couple of hours).

SO are you going to offer something helpful drhankz? Or do you just want to be a jerk?

Choose one:
  • helpful
  • jerk

Because mine bricked itself after updating to 1.7 also.

I'd like to find out too. Panasonic's website (oh I can't post the URL because I'm new and trying to be HELPFUL) does not appear to offer earlier firmware options for the 110.

Since the update kills the Internet connection it will be impossible to download a newer one should it become available. However, I think you can burn the file to a CD which it ought to be able to read (haven't tried that)

DO NOT update to 1.7 until this is fixed. Or REPAIRed.

Use "I" statements: "the update killed my Internet connection". I can't recall anyone else registering that complaint (it would have bricked mine, since I only bought it to use for streaming).
I have 3x 210's and firmware 1.70 hasn't harmed my internet connections (wireless with streaming) at all.

Is that helpful??

Hi Teachsac,
Thanks for the quick reply, I thought that might be the case. Dammit

I have an HDMI switcher (1 in, 2 out) running to the tv and a projector.
Since the update, the player no longer recognises either display as 3D compliant through the switcher and refuses to play 3d discs.
When connected directly to each display it works fine so I can only assume that something in the firmware update changed.
It all worked fine with firmware 1.68!

Any ideas?

The switcher is perfectly fine, my ps3 and samsung 3d blu-ray sends a 3d signal through it no problem at all.

Thanks for any help guys

How would you guys compare the Panasonic 210 to the Pioneer 310. I've had the pioneer 310 and im looking to get something better. Can't afford the newer pioneers. I can get a brand new in box 210 from my father in law for free. How would you guys compare the 2 in regards to picture/sound quality ect. Thanks in advance!!

Actually, the website only offers 1.68 at the moment which you can burn to CD. But it won't do any good if you're already at 1.70 because the player will not load an older version. If your player will no longer connect after updating the firmware, where exactly does it fail when you do a test? Have you tried rebooting your router or using a static IP or public DNS servers?

hi

i'd appreciate some advice regarding viewing 1080p mkv files on my new BDT-210

initially i tried streaming them wirelessly (wireless G) from a windows network share to the player. 1080p files stuttered, but 90% of 720p files were fine

i switched from wireless to 100Mb wired. surprised to find not much better !

are others experiencing similar difficulties?

would wireless N be any better, or is local storage the way to go? i tried burning some 1080p mkv files to a BDR and they played faultlessly

i have a 32GB SD card and 16GB USB key at my disposal too, but both are limited to FAT32's 4GB max file size, as i understand. please confirm. i read about "linking" mkv files, and attempted to do this with mkvmerge, but the player wouldn't link them when playing back

i read that exFAT works for 64GB SD cards, so was at one point tempted to buy one, as exFAT would not have the 4GB max file size issue... but then noticed in the 210's manual that playing mkvs from "sdXC" isn't supported, and all the SD cards at 64GB or above are of the XC variety

so... is my best option to split to 4GB and copy to USB key? this is do-able, but i'd much rather get 1080p streaming working! not tried DLNA yet. will that be any different?

The player will not receive an IP address from my router. It generates only a "self-assigned" IP address. I already substituted a different router, different cables, different ports and two different switches. If I connect a computer to the Ethernet cable the computer connects. The rest of my (wired and wireless) network is obviously working. All this equipment is about a year old or less.

I tried assigning it a static IP address but the player reports no connection.

I use OpenDNS but obviously if it's not receiving an IP address it's not even going to get that far.

The only thing I haven't done is connect the player directly to the cable modem, which is impractical since I couldn't use it that way and it's too far away.

Before the update: it worked. After the update: not working. I'm not 99% sure the update is responsible, I'm 100% sure.

Fortunately the thing was only $100, but without streaming it's junk. Sending it in for repair will probably cost $30 or $40 so it's going in the trash. Thanks Panasonic.

By the way I'm wondering why their website only offers 1.68. Did they discover this problem after 1.70 was released, and pulled it down?

Fair enough, I'll just say the update killed its internet connection.

Tried that, though the menu. It did not revert to an earlier revision. If there's a way to perform a "hard" reset or anything else I'm all ears.

Which switch are you using? Some are tempermental. Try doing a reset on the player. I don't have my manual handy, so I can't say which page it's on. A search in this thread will give you the results, though.

They're D-Link, not exactly sure which model numbers but I have two. They're gigabit switches.

I know switches tend to be finicky but these have been reliable with everything else.

Teachsac,
Great advice - a factory reset worked, thanks for your help - I wouldnt have known about it without your help.
It's on page 34 of the thread for those who need it.

Btw way I had no problems with networking on 1.70, everything stay the same.

Thanks again for the assist
Perhaps you have already done this, but if you are having issues after the firmware update, try unplugging the power cord for 30 sec. then plug it back in. Sometimes a reboot will help. By the way I updated (with the auto download) both my 110 and 310 to firmware 1.70 without any issues.

You could also format your USB drives with exFAT.

Just finished watching Tron Legacy 3D. Movie itself wasnt great, but the effects are fantastic, and the the 3D is really nice.

Question about the rebate form. Do I just need the UPC code that has the serial no (i.e. 1 barcode for the model name on top, 1 barcode for the serial on the bottom), or should I also include the other barcode, which is just one barcode with the model name on top, barcode underneath.
