not exactly the same problem, but i had vierra cast lock up on me when trying to access it. however, it would pass the network test in the network settings menu. i unplugged the power cord from the panny 210. rebooted my router. then plugged the 210 back in. everything worked. this has happened to me twice over a period of a few months. the same steps still solve the problem. and i'm on the latest firmware. i think it's an issue with the vierra cast server, since the panasonic player will pass a network test when this problem occurs. i suspect that a lot of these glitches are a result of veirra cast being problematic on the server side.

What Leo King said.

Set the settings to pcm but I have tried that before. Just tried again with no luck.

As suggested also unplugged for about a minute. And....still no luck.
Sending it back on Monday unless anybody else has a suggestion.

Not really. Mine's been working since August.

BTW Just tried internet content. Know beeping sound when selecting apps and no sound on netflix or youtube. Cam hear beeps, netflix, blu-rays, dvd's, everything with HDMI but nothing with optical.

If anyone is reading this without reading initial post, optical worked for a while and just cut out completely without me touching anything. Was in the middle of a movie and it started to drop out a few times then totally cut out.

Bump.

I noticed they have a "Remote 2011" app out so it must be possible to control them via the Ethernet port. If only we had the port # and/or the command format/syntax.

Are you saying player-specific search because there was nothing. If it's a general issue I've not experienced it with my Sony players. In fact I just tested them both (old s350 and new s770) and analog audio works fine with the same title (Avatar) my friend was trying. The only diff is he's running 3D...

Anyway this is a really lousy limitation of the 310 and the workaround sucks. It basically forced him to buy a new receiver with HDMI and he's only got 2 speakers.

I figure out the issue . while you play youtube videos if you accidentally press the 'top menu' button its happening again . I lost again the installed icons . nothing is showing on the vierra cast menu . will see what happening tomorrow and update

The only video format supported natively through DLNA is MPEG (1/2). Win7's DLNA server (Advanced Sharing Settings->Media Streaming) lets you stream TS, PS, or MPG files with FF/Rew -- but not MKV (as far as I know). Other video formats (such as MP4/H.264) depend on the DLNA server. I noticed today some members have posted success using 3rd party DNA servers to play other file types. You may want to check that...

DLNA on my BDT210 is absolutely worthless! It will connect to the network, but it won't stay connected. It's not a router issue, because I have tried 2 different routers. It's not a wireless issue because I get the same disconnect problems whether it's wireless or hard wired. Panasonic tech support is pathetic! They keep insisting I change the encryption settings on my router to WEP even though I told them that the 210 is hard wired!

This will be my last Panasonic...

Yes, we do have all that. PM me your email address and I'll send a little test page someone gave me. Search for posts by user XARiUS in late October '11 for details.

FWIW, control over HDMI also works quite well.

I bought a Panny 210 last week at the local BB as it was an "open box" for a good price as I really like it, first Panny product I have ever owned btw. I was about to get an Oppo 93 but thought I would try this first, anyhow differnt story.. sorry. Anyhow.... once in awhile when I stream Netflix i get a 'white noise" or a crack/pop in my surround system as it will stop then reapear about every 5 sec or so. If I stop the movie and then restart it after about 15 min or so then all is fine, has anyone had this problem at all??

Juast to be fair, I do believe its a Netfilx issue, not only with Panny but with other mfg as well ( so I have read) about performace issues that is. I have only read about the "black flick" as I do get that once in awhile as well too but I have not read about the sound issue. I donce in a great while get the "freeze" & shut-off ordeal as well but not enough to call it quits on this unit thou... not yet anyhow. I love all that it has to offer and other funtions run good... just a Netflix issue is all I believe. I replaced an older LG BD390 just due to the fact I wanted Pandora as I thought to myself it could not tell the diff. in PQ... but hands down the PQ is much better is all aspects.

I have read on amazon to a few tricks to "maybe" cure the black flick issue but I have not tried it yet, I will have to report back on that one. In case its an issue I will list the set up i have I have at the bottom. If there are any tricks or things you may suggest to try.... "give them" .

Hers another thing I have experianced the other day... if it matters. I had my phone on the office table ( thunderbolt ) as it sat about 5ft away from my wireles router. I received a phonecall/text as it must of made the same siganl or such to "freeze" the movie I was watching.... ever experiance that one??

Anyhow.... thanks for looking..... Jeff

Set up: as far as I think may be an issue
Panny 210 BD player
Onkyo 808 reciever (HDMI hook up only)
Netgear 3700 wireless router

2.4 GHz can squash wifi, that would be microwaves and a lot of cordless phones.

Search in this thread. It has been discussed and many work arounds offered. Panasonic isn't going to fix it becuase they say it is by design.

Another work-around (that I use) is a digital to analog converter (see link). With 24p enabled, analog audio is disabled, but not digital audio.

Thanks. Good to know they didn't botch that digital out too and it works, before buying more equipment.

PS - If the limitation is by design (can't imagine why) it should be mentioned in the manual. We wasted hours troubleshooting this over the phone.

I guess the quality of the Customer Service person varies quite a bit. When I called up (several months ago) with the same issue, they immediately told me that analog audio doesn't work with 24p over HDMI. Still not sure why it was designed that way!

OK, I tried a search and didn't see a fix but with 200+ pages I might have missed it.

I just bought the DMP-BDT210 and I'm having problems with player outputting digital sound while in Viera Cast. DVD's and Blu-rays sound is great but once I switch to Viera Cast it switches to plane Dolby. I've tested it with Amazon VOD and Huluplus. My PS3 will stream the digital audio from Huluplus fine so I know its not a receiver issue.

Has anybody found a work-around or have got an answer from Panasonic why this won't work? One of the main reasons I bought this BLu-ray player is to stream Amazon VOD. I bought it over a Roku because it was only $30 more and I thought it was a no-brainer to get a Blu-ray player for a little more money.

Thanks.

It's here. Amazon and Hulu don't offer 5.1 with most players, PS3 is different. Maybe next gen.

It should be noted that the Viera Connect apps do provide bitstreamed 5.1 DD+ from Netflix (for those titles which feature it, which can bee seen here) and from VUDU. (The Roku doesn't have VUDU--I have a Roku 2 XS; if it did it'd be nearly perfect).

This works for video and pictures? Well? I am gradually trying to get this going, I'm using serviio now, and pictures seem OK, but last night I could not get the video to stream. It was very, VERY choppy. Both on Panny 215 and sony 58 (I'm trying to figure out which one to keep...). I am reading a .mts file, as generated by my camcorder. I did notice the sony plays .avi files from the digital cameras (panny does not), but also choppy.

Both the laptop and the BD are hardwired, so shouldn't be wireless issue. The panny will play the .mts files fine off SD card, but that is obviously not the goal. I have not even tried to play from a external drive connected to laptop, which is the goal. I did try plugging the external into the panny, and it did not like it.

The Sony was really slow to access things, and seemed to have froze up a few times. With the panny, I do get the black flicks on netflix occasionally, but would deal with that if I can get the DLNA working.

Other ideas? I can try this other software (mezzmo) as well, although I'll need some positive data points before spending $20-30 for a "try". Thanks.

I love my player but I get these weird issues.

Watching the extras disc on the Avatar 3 disc set, the display notification (BD-24) would not go away.

I put in Scarface last night and while the movie played fine, when I turned on the PIP extra, I got no audio.

It seems any type of Java/Stream function causes the player to act weird.
Unless I have a setting wrong.

Not sure about BD-24 display. But for PIP audio to be on, you will have to enable secondary audio and loss the bitstream capablility. That's how it works in any BD player, e.g. the player has to decode both audio stream and mix them before send out.
^^
You can still use bitstream with secondary audio turned on. The player decodes the lossy version of the track, mixes in the extra audio, and then re-encodes the mixture as DD 5.1 or DTS.
^^
Yep. I leave my player in bitstream + sec audio mode always and never have any problems with PIP or surround.
^^
But, you are limited to lossy audio that way. While the high bitrate lossy tracks on Blu-ray sound great, I think most people would leave secondary audio off except when listening to PIP commentaries.
