No noises at all from my 210 and I'd say the pq is much better than marginal. Have no need for flash drives so that's not important to me.
PQ is not marginally acceptable; it's marginally better than other players with already outstanding BR PQ. In other words, the pan. is truly exceptional, not marginally acceptable.

Hey all -
For those of you using Harmony remotes with the BDTx10 players, are you setting them up using myharmony.com, members.harmonyremote.com, or the 7.7 software?
I ask because I'm having trouble duplicating the Netflix button on the player's remote. I'm trying to avoid using myharmony because I want to use sequences for another device.
The learning function isn't working/playing the command back either.
Alternatively, does anyone have the pronto hex code for this command?

Huh? I set mine up using my Harmony account and the Harmony application, which I've done since I bought my first Harmony remote, an SST 768 back in 2004, before they were assimilated by Logitech. I didn't know that there were other methods.
I have a Harmony One and I use the 7.7 software. The Netflix button (harmony) functions exactly like the button on the remote the unit must on ON before it works. Same for the Skype button. Both were predefined. However, I remember that if the unit was off, it has to reconnect to the network first and depending if it's wireless or not, THAT can slow it down before it will respond to the Netflix request which will/can time out if the network takes a while.
FWIW I just checked and they are in the database as are the NEW models, like the 220.

I've seen it in all the x10 profiles on harmony regardless of software version. The 110 has it for sure. If you still have trouble, I posted all the pronto hex about 6 months ago. Just search my name and pronto.
It would be nice to know if someone with one of the new x20 models could test the Netflix function and see if it still works since they removed the Netflix button from the new remotes.

Myharmony.com is a new, dumbed-down version of the original software you are used to. It only works with a few new models (OnePlus (Europe only), 200, 300, 600, 650, and 700). It should be avoided at all costs. Members.harmonyremote.com is completely interchangeable with the stand-alone 7.7 software and comes in handy for changing your remote config from any web browser without having to load the software. It also has some additional hidden functionality like pronto hex analysis and import, and integrating with 3rd party tools like concordance.
Hmmm...
When I add the Bdtx10 (I tried the 210 and the 110) in the 7.7 software, it does have me press a few commands to confirm which remote I'm using. I wonder if it's showing the commands for the wrong remote?
I'm at work now, so I won't be able to test this until tonight, but I remember having to press the "Input select" button, which is supposed to control the TV, not the BD player.
I'll test tonight to see if a different remote configuration works.

Tell the software you don't have the original remote to skip those confirm steps. Then all the commands will be there and everything will work fine. That is assuming you haven't changed the address on the player to something other than 1. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you haven't done that.
My theory is since all panasonic players use the same codes, the confirm step is causing the software to pick one of first code sets it sees which just happens to be an older one which is missing the latest commands. Skipping the confirm steps forces the software to use the model you told it to use in the first place. The only reason the confirm steps are there is to make sure it's using the right player address. The vast majority of users will be using address 1. Only people with several panasonic players in the same rack will ever use multiple addresses and hence need to perform the confirm steps.
My local BestBuy has a DMP-BDT110 for 44$. It looks perfect, but it has no accessories or box. Open box items form BestBuy come with the full manufacturer's warranty in case it has an issue. I have a couple of old panasonic dvd remotes lying around. They are practically identical and each will control the other unit. Do you think I could use one of those remotes to teach the Denon remote I use in the bedroom a few basic commands. I think 50$ (including tax) would be a pretty good deal in that case???? Also, I recently purchased a WD Streaming Media Player, do you think this DVD player will stream 1080P as well as the WD player and my LG670 do? My house is wired with Cat6 from a gigabit router.
One last thing. I have an external hard drive connected to my my WDTV Live Streaming Media Player, and I can can access the media content on the external hard drive anywhere in the house. The WDTV SMP is a Samba server. My LG DVD player does not have the ability to be a server. It's only a client. Can this Panasonic provide access to an attached USB storage device across the network?

Sounds like a good deal to me - certainly if BB allows you to return the unit in the event that you can't get your remotes to control the 110. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that Panasonic hasn't made any adjustments in their remote codes for some years now - so it is quite likely that one of your Panasonic remotes will be recognized by your 110. Worst case - you could purchase a universal remote to control the 110 and still come in way below the purchase price of a "new" 110.

Keep in mind the 110, 210 & 310 have been discontinued....2012 models are on sale at Amazon now...and given Avatar promos are over these should be falling in price big time
I was reselling the 215 and I was bout to drop price on Amazon but luckily someone purchased it...even though the 210 page has a link to the newer model
I bet I could teach my Denon remote the codes with my Harmony remote. Does anybody know if the Panasonic is a CIFS or Samba server? I figure for 44$ I can't go wrong if it's fully functional. I would rather get rid of the WDTV Live. It freezes up too much, but I love how it provides pretty fast access to the external hard drive that is connected to it, even when the unit is powered down.

Inasmuch as it's running some flavor of embedded GNU (you can download the component's they've modified under copyleft), I'd suspect Samba. Is there some actual difference? Samba's just freeware SMB/CIFS.
If you connect an external storage device, such as a portable hard drive, to your DMP-BDT110 via the USB port, can you access the portable hard drive from another room over your home network. I have an LG670 3D player, and it does not have this ability. It is a Samba/Cifs client but not a Samba/Cifs server. I suspect the Panasonic is also a client but not a server.

I would expect your WD to be a much better file player. The Panasonic 2011 players are generally considered weak and inflexible file players. I personally use file playback on my 110 from a drive shared on my Win7 PC -- mostly 1080i30 MPEG2s in MKV containers. But many people have had difficulties making it work for them. Read this thread and you will see.
If you were referring to internet video streaming, the Panny is a great device for NetFlix, Vudu and Amazon -- with a few quirks and limitations. Again, read this thread for details.
It also has Hulu Plus, but some people reported issues with it (it worked fine for me in tests, but I have not used it extensively).

Wow, you didn't even wait 30 mins for someone to answer your question before asking again! Anyways, answer is in my previous response to you.
I said thanks. Sheesh. It sounded like he thought I was talking about an app. He mentioned freeware. I didn't ask the question again so much as clarify the question.

I probably should have said "open source". I wrote network device firmware (in large scale routers, switches and such) for over a decade--I have some familiarity with these concepts.

Sorry, I see that now. Our messages crossed each others.
Tonight I watched real steel in dolby master bit stream and out of nowhere I'd get dialogue echo, all I had to do is pause the video and hit play and the dialogue echo would be gone but would come back moments later. I've never had this issue before, but all searches came up with nothing on the forum. My receiver is a denon avr-989 and is connected to my Panasonic 210 player.
I have 110 player and WD My Book Live 1 TB NAS. All hooked up via wired LAN.
I am running into strange issue with playing MKV file over the Network Drive, it will freeze after watching 15-20 minutes. Anyone else having this issue ?
BTW, I am using Handbrake to convert my DVD to MKV file (1GB each).

If you search this thread, you'll find a thousand posts on that subject - if not more. I'll be happy to help you, but please do a little studying on it first. Focus on posts from Nov last year.
This is a long thread to read through, so if you could point me to a page no, I would really appreciate that.
Also, my issue is slightly different since it plays the file for a while then it freezes. If you think it is still an issue with my MKV file (created by Handbrake), any recommendation on encoder ?
