Introduction

Good afternoon,

New member here; just introducing myself. I'm not sure if this is the place to do it, or not.

While I'm in the 3D display area, I will say that I just bought a Mitsubishi 82738 Display, an Onkyo TXNR708, and a set of Klipsch Surround Sound Speakers. Seems I need to have at least three posts before I can insert links, so no links this time.

This is an upgrade to my current setup which is a Mitsubishi WS55315, and a Yamaha Home Theater in a Box system (the model currently escapes me).

I am remodeling a house, so I had the opportunity to upgrade my theater experience. The great room will be approximately 27' X 35'.

I have been lurking around the forum for a couple of weeks, and it seems there are a lot of informed folks here. Hopefully I will learn a lot with your help.

I haven't gotten it set up as of yet. Still waiting on the remodel to be completed. I am excited though.

I think our seating will be 10 to 12 feet. There is certainly enough room for a large sectional sofa in the room with enough room behind it to get to the rest of the house.


I wish I could. I have not received it yet. It's not due for delivery for another couple of weeks.

Besides, if I open it, I'll want to keep it open, and moving an 82" TV twice does not seem appealing. I do have my new AVR and speakers, however, and it's taking every ounce of self-control to not set that up at the old house.

Even with an 82" screen?

Interesting points. I always felt like the image was recessed into the screen when viewed in the theaters. I never really got the impression that they came out of the screen. Kind of like a "reverse 3D," if you will.

What you say makes sense, however. In either case, the effect is more dramatic the closer you are.

Thanks for the heads up though. I might have noticed the same thing you guys did and might have been disappointed without even thinking that moving closer might make a difference.
