I am more concerned about the quality of the two TVs. Right now I am leaning towards getting the LG, unless anyone thinks there is a reason to stick with the Sony and Active shutter technology?

The factory-settings gave the display a cheap-video look. I went through the wizard, and it didn't help much. Then, I entered Kandionkhrome's settings and it made a world of difference. Thanks! I watched a 3-D movie via HBO on-demand. It's just amazing to watch something like this on a home TV!

The back of the Magic Motion remote arrrived cracked. It still works, but I may contact LG and see if it can be replaced. I sure don't want to return the TV for this issue.

The only minor complaint I've had so far is herky jerky (to use a technical term ) motion on an HD TV show. I'm sure there's some setting that I need to change for that.

Putting your set-top into user settings mode
1. Make sure that your set-top is turned on (POWER light is green).
2. Press the POWER button on your remote control (POWER light goes off), then press the Menu button. You should see the USER SETTINGS menu, shown right, on your TV screen.

Changing the TV Display Capability
If you have not already done so, put your set-top into User Settings mode, as described on page 11. Press the U or D button on your remote control and highlight TV Display Capability on the USER SETTINGS menu.
The available resolutions are: 1080p*, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i.
1. To change the TV Display Capability, press the R button.
The TV Display Capability menu appears on your TV screen.
TV Display Capability
1080i : YES
720p : NO
480p : NO
480i : NO
1080p Pass : YES
2. Press the U or D button to highlight each resolution in turn and, for each one, press the OK/Select button [Say NO to 480i/p and 720P to ensure HD On Demand content comes out as True HD for 3D and other content when available] if you wish to change the setting (the setting changes between YES and NO each time you press OK/
Select).
If, at any stage in this process, the menu disappears from the screen, immediately press the OK/Select button to restore the menu.
3 Repeat step 2 until you have tried all the resolutions.
4. When you are satisfied that all the TV resolutions are correct, press the L button. The USER SETTINGS menu reappears.

I have watched 8 different 3d movies so far on my 46 and there was not a single effect like that. The depth is there but sword or sharks coming out of the screen is not. I like those gimmicks and so do my kids. Downloaded the LG demo content and size of the tv makes a huge difference. It seems the bigger the tv the more things come out at you. That is my opinion, others may feel different.
