Does the sound come back after a few seconds or no sound at all? Sounds to me like it is a content issue and not necessarily a tv issue.

No sound at all when changing some HD channels or going from HD to non-HD and back. If I turn the TV off, the back on, I got sound on HD. I can change some channels, but it can lose all HD sound at some channel changes.
Do you think that I should use component for TV? If so, will I lose any resolution? BTW, it did not do this for my 50 in plasma that was 720p

Dang dude, you are correct. I changed the settings in the Comcast STB. The "Picture Format" was set to auto DVI/HDMI, I changed it to "Upconvert 1" all the SD looks better too. I am not losing sound changing HD channels or going to non-HD and back. Thanks.

Doc

Edit: I spoke too soon. I lost sound again on HD. But I'll try more settings.

Sound is working with component with no problems changing channels. I may try a different box next week. The pic looks nice. Sound is OK. I'll hook up the BR and WiFi on the weekend.

HDMI looks better than Component on non-HD [480p], which I upconverted at the STB. I can switch channels of 720p and not lose sound, but going to 1080i or 480p, then back to any HD [720p or 1080i], I lose sound. Turn off the TV then on, and sound is back.

Trying the software [firmware actually] update. WiFi is 'g' so it's not as fast as 'N' and it's sloooooow. Maybe it will fix it.

Gonna quote myself, but the sound problem improved quite a bit after the software [firmware] update.

Edit: SD picture also improved. Two words guys.....Frackin Sweet!

Could someone post ISF or Cinema calibration pls? I tried the calibration setting for LW6500 from FlatPanel but it's way off!
Chad B, your review was great and convincing me enough to shell out my hard earn dough for this set. How about posting the calibration for this set?

I recently received the 55LW5600, I'm pleased so far. The picture is great in HD, the 3d is better then on the samsung c7000 plasma I use to have, I can't even tell the difference between a 1080p feed and a 3d blu-ray disc, and even the 720p 3d content looks great. Also I don't see any lines no matter how close I get. At first I thought the frame and base looked cheap but now I find they're plain and unnoticable, the way I like it. The matte screen is awesome, if the TV is off I can barely see my reflection even in a brightly lit room. The wand is great if it worked all the time, it locks up sometimes and I have to turn the tv off and on to get it working. The apps aren't as numerous as on the samsung TV, but the major ones are there. For the Koreans, sbs isn't included like on the samsung, my mother will be disappointed when she visits.

I'll post my settings later on.

No problem.

Ive only seen the other TVs in the store. Personally I think the 3d on this tv is outstanding. It's very crisp. I know they say its only half the resolution in 3d because of the passive glasses but when I watched resident evil 3d it looked like it was 1080p. Very clear and no ghosting or crosstalk. Tonight I'm going to watch Tron Legacy 3d BluRay. I liked the way it looked in theaters so hopefully it looks great on this set.

When i played black ops in 3d it didn't look too great. Didn't look HD like the 3d resident evil. I haven't played any other games in 3G on this set.

Just ordered the 55LW5600 From Vanns and will be here Tuesday. I can't wait. Across the board and everything considered this seemed to be the best TV for the money after my research. A quick trip to Best Buy to look at it in person sealed the deal. Excellent picture and the 3D looked fantastic.

I finally tried game mode last night. It may have made a slight difference in lag (which I think I notice more than on my old 47LC7DF) but when the screen went black without the local dimming it was a mess. Not just "not black" but very inconsistent and blotchy.

Is this what other people are finding as well? Is this normal and a product of the technology?

Try my settings above. I don't use game mode and I don't notice much lag. I don't switch settings either. Use those for my hd cable, Xbox 360, ps3, wii and when I watch blurays on the ps3.

Kandionkhrome and rivered, thx guys. Tried them out and both are good start points.

Could someone post the ISF 2-point or 10-point color calibration in the advanced menu?
So far, I love this TV. But I wanted to confirm something about ESPN 360 3D. Last night on my comcast connection, I was watching the BSC Auburn Oregon game and it was split screen. The top half was 3D and the bottom half was 2D.
Was this only done for that broadcast of that game, or is it like that for every broadcast on this LG tv series? I would like the whole screen to be 3D.

I tried to adjust the 3d settings, but all I could find was a left/right and right/left adjustment.

Anyone have any advise?

Thanks in advance!

Cool, thanks. I will definitely try them tonight. I was really happy with this TV for the first couple days, then last night trying out the Wii I was a little disheartened. Plus, I messed with picture settings and I think it looked better the night before.

I need to quit actively looking for problems in the black areas and just watch the picture as a whole.

Thanks for posting your settings!

Can anyone confirm that all the 55LW5600 TVs are IPS panels ? If so are they S-IPS panels?

If you look down in the questions section on the bottom half, it says yes they are. But as to which one or even if its confirmed is another question. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php...&id=1296297933

On a side note, here's another really good read on active vs. passive 3D. I personally really prefer the passive. http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php...&id=1299265133
post #240 of 8217
Ya thats what I thought.Still have several members confirmed this? It looks like most people are happy but that some are getting some bad clouding. When Chad B did the review he mentioned that if you watch movies in a dark room this TV is not for you.
