The two other settings that I am working on dialing in are:

3D - I read somewhere that a good calibration can make the 3D images pop out of the screen better.

SD - if there is a place where this TV needs help, it is with a Standard Def picture. It is not bad but not great. I have to believe that someone has been able to dial the PQ in so its at least above average.

If anyone would like to share that would be great!

You're welcome. Regarding the SD picture, this is a very weak point with this panel. I don't watch a lot of SD, but when I do, I normally watch it on my Pioneer Kuro in the bedroom. When I'm forced to watch it in the living room, I switch on my AVR for upscaling and it makes it tolerable.

I am on Wired. On a very fast connection actually. and the movie is 3D and High Resolution. Its the only movie I watch that "buffers"

What program can someone recommend that will take my video file and alter the audio "type"?

Thanks

Now im guessing that your plex server is not powerful enough to transcode on the fly. Try Freemake.com

What type of system is needed then?

I ask because my machine is custom built, and a gaming rig which includes Intel E8400 3.0Ghz CPU,EVGA GTX 470 Video Card, 4GB DDR2 Memory,Win 7 x64, EVGA 780i SLI motherboard

I basically have no issues with anything. just this one movie of course lol

I just bought the LW5600 and it has massive input lag. How do you get rid of this while still using HDMI? Everything else is perfect but I play games alot and the lag is terrible. Any help is appreciated, thanks

mmmmh, that system seems like it would handle it but who knows how efficient Plex is. Try converting it to an MP4 using that Freemake utility I gave you.

This has been discussed over and over and over again in this thread. The answer is here. Just search the thread for "input lag". bam! your done!

I did, that setting is for the TV speaker only, not for an external sound system.

Do you have the audio sync adjustment on your AVR? The modern ones do.

Not sure how to search the eniter thread? If you could tell me how or the fix for the input lag it would be greatly appreciated. Im on the verge of returning this tv.

thanks but I've tried swapping L/R and I think every other video & 3d setting. I don't know if my hdmi cable is 1.4, could that be the problem? I get the same results when using a dvi-to-hdmi cable that I know is only 1.3.

Yeah, I never had a problem with it when I first received it. My AVR must have updated itself and something messed up. The audio sync setting only moves in increments of 10ms on it though. That sort of sucks because I can't seem to get it spot on. I was seeing if anyone else had a similar problem. Thanks for the quick reply!

In the top right under the pages and says "search this thread".

To get rid of lag you apparently need to relabel the input to PC. I play a lot of games on ps3 and still haven't had any lag.

Change the label for that input to PC.
or turn off ALL the bells/whistles.

I get a 65ms calibration value on rock band. That's the best I can get and about the same as my older tv.

BTW, This answer was shorter than the "search for an answer" resonse. Please, don't waste time typing a response that says to "go search" if the answer is shorter. It doesn't hurt to have the answer restated.

I had a similar problem once after I re-encoded a 3D bluray ISO rip. It just did not encode correctly. Maybe you have a bad file?

From what I've found, there isn't a tool out there that can compress a 3D BR right now. Anyone?

no, it's any sbs video over hdmi. As I stated in my previous post, it plays perfectly when I use a vga cable

update: problem solved, gpu was scaling down image and the border was throwing off 3D l+r allignment. Set scaling to 0% and the images line up perfect.

I saw this suggestion earlier and I thought I had just misread it since I couldn't figure out how to do it. The only input designation I can find seems to limit my labels to single digit numbers. How do I change the input label?

UPDATE:
I'm an idiot - found it clearly stated: Input button, green button. Got it.

This may be a stupid question.....

But to view 3D on this set, do I need to buy new HDMI cables, or will my existing ones work? I think I read some conflicting things about whether or not the ones I have now will work. They are probably 3-5 years old.

You already have them so. May as well try them out. If they work, great, if not, buy new ones.

Attention gaming enthusiasts,

I've been tracking to see if there have been any improvements in checkerboard and interleave mode for 3D gaming. Ghosting in still the same in the latest firmware, although they did some cleaning up the fine grain pixels in checkerboard, the ghosting is still there.

If anyone has AVATAR for 360, please run checkerboard mode or interlace on AVATAR and test for ghosting vs Side by Side mode. My tests have shown 3D is problematic for checkerboard and interleaved mode. Side by Side has no issues with ghosting.

Here is the checkerboard ghosting

If you do confirm, please send information to LG so they can fix this because this has a great effect on 3D quality in games. I am only one person, but if more people can submit this problem it will be fixed faster.

It's not a stupid question.

Like the other poster said, try what you got first. Most likely your existing cable will work. I believe the newer cables (v1.4) are just stating that they "passed" the new standards, doesn't mean the older cables won't.

Another tip if you are using AVR and PS3. If your AVR isn't "3D-ready", ie. it doesn't pass the 3D info to/from the TV to PS3, then you should connect PS3 directly to the TV first. Go thru the VIDEO setup again on the PS3, it'll let you know that it detected your have a 3D tv. After you configured it, make sure 3D works from PS3 (eg. bluray), you should be able to connect the HDMI cable from PS3->AVR->TV. Just setup the HDMI audio again, but don't mess with the VIDEO setup.

I just received the 55LW5600! So far this looks great. Still need to calibrate...

There is one problem that I'm having....I have Motorola DCX3400 STB under Comcast service. When I go to Ondemand to view a 3D movie, show, etc....It's always giving me some type of split screen. I can't seem to get rid of it. Anyone know what's going on?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

(And I determine that it is an LG issue, due to the fact that I have an LG blue ray home theater system with LG premium apps, and when I have trouble with the TV apps, I also have trouble with the apps on the blue ray player.)

- I have NO issue's with watching Netflix content from my PC ever.
- For the past week or so, I frequently have problems watching Netflix content thru the LG TV (or blue ray player).

Both use a wired connection.

Anyone else have any issues like this?

I think Netflix was having issues. I had trouble with Netflix on PS3 as well. And then I tried it on LG for the first time, and it got the same error. But it did work on PC. After few hours, it finally worked on PS3, but I didn't try it on LG.

It means the TV doesn't know 3D is streaming. You need to manually enable 3D mode. Hit the "3D" button, and choose the "side-by-side" option for 3D viewing.

3D - I read somewhere that a good calibration can make the 3D images pop out of the screen better.

If anyone would like to share that would be great!

The key to enhance the 3D settings is to change the V Sharpness setting as the final step of any calibration because every setting before will set the picture quality but the V sharpness if set correctly will make the 3D depth and popout greatly come out of the screen. Mine may vary to yours but my V-Sharpness is set at 55 for my ISF Expert Mode 1 changes.

To LG engineers,

Your V-Sharpness is locked in checkerboard mode please adjust this to fix ghosting quality in Checkerboard mode.

BTW, it also doesn't hurt to suggest go searching either because he's right about this question being asked multiple time and getting answered repeatly. it's not like it's hidden , I mean just couple of pages ago it was posted again.
If he can't find the answer in a couple of hours someone or myself will post the solution again. Hes doing this to help him in the long run, we all want him to enjoy the lw5600. Also only relabeling the input to pc from hdmi is needed, turning off other bells and whistles doesn't help much if any.

Also I notice tons of new people interested in this tv but didn't have enough
time to read this whole thread. I suggest you make a bit if of time to read it because it has lots of useful info and solutions to problems and tips that will pretty much answer all your questions. You can ask any question but don't be surprise when you get a realistic answer thats still right but it's not the simple answer you're looking for.

Just my personal opinion, but I am an Administrator on another forum, and one thing I like about that forum is we strongly discourage members suggesting that people asking questions "go search," especially for new or newer members. It provides for a very respectful and friendly atmosphere where members simply provide the answer or provide a link to the answer regardless of how many times it's been asked. And, over time, newer members learn how to effectively use the search button and it generally becomes a non-issue for those newer members. My 2 cents!

I went through the whole thread for settings and calibration notes for a lot of the new people (and for myself):

Seems like you didn't go through the whole thread. Eithat that or it's easy to miss a post in a 2500+ post thread, wouldn't you agree?

You can watch 3D bluray from PS3 via AVR, even if it doesn't support 3D. You just need to setup PS3's video setting when connected to the TV directly (bypassing AVR) first.

Still hoping someone could tell me the length of the power cord. From one diagram I saw, it looks like the power cord exits at the base, roughly in the middle horizontally. Hope someone could confirm that also.

Many thanks
