I hope that changing a few settings will get it looking more like a movie than a digital video cam.

... thoughts?

Turn off Tru Motion when you watch movies. It introduces a video camera feel to films.

I had this issue too-- turned out my wireless internet wasn't quite setup right. I went back through the setup and had it test, then everything started working.

Did you fix yours yet and how?

I had an LG service technician come out-- just post the issue to them on their support website. He replaced the main board and the Netflix app is now working!!

LG seems interested in fixing this problem right away-- the technician actually ended up taking pictures of my issue and recording a short video and answering a list of questions the tech guys in Korea had for him. I also made sure they knew that I never got to the point of getting an LG application code to register for Netflix. The Netflix screen simply came up with the circular "loading" logo and then stuck and that's as far as it ever got before I'd have to power cycle the tv. Typically, the first thing they wanted me to do was reboot my wireless router and cable modem. I pointed out that I CAN web browse, do Youtube, Amazon, etc. so the problem is obviously not a wireless connection problem.

The ARC is still not working -- I've just given up on it and am using the optical out back to my receiver which works fine. I gave up because I can't prove who's issue it is since the ARC also depends on my Onkyo receiver.

Well went to a local store here in palm desert ca where they have mostly all top make tvs. Its a nice set up room kinda low lit and they had this LG 5600 55 inch for 1624.00 wow!! The 3d look really great! I could see the lines but up close. Side views were great too! But then I see it's not a glossy screen! Sorry but I'm a glossy screen fan! Don't lime the matte screen. It seems to me with the glossy screen I get more pop, darker blacks.

I was so happy with the 3d part. Maybe I go back again and try it out a bit more.

At the moment I have a Sony 55nx810 that I'm returning maybe I should just stick with it since the 3d is great on it too.

I've been reading reviews for buydig and it seems like a mixed bag for large tv's how was your experience with them? (i.e. shipping, product condition etc.). I'm cautious because this is the first time ordering such a large and expensive item online, I usually go to the brick n' mortars...

I went to best buy and watched the demo today.

At first i tried viewing from about 4 feet away. I could see black lines and ghosting was bad. But then i found the glasses that wern't attached to anything and went back and around 8 feet is when it really started to look good. There was an underwater life demo and the 3d had great depth. It seemed like there was a little crosstalk/blurring on the edge of the screens in some of the scenes but the rest of the image looked great.
Overall the 3d effect was excellent as long as you stayed far away from the screen.

That seems to be the tradeoff for passive, which is fine because 8-10 ft is my viewing range. Rather that than the expensive active shutter glasses.

Hey yall,

I got my replacement from Amazon yesterday. I've noticed 2 differences so far. It only took 2 minutes to download the new firmware on this set compared to 30 min on my dented one. Also, this new one has far less edge light bleed in the upper left hand corner.

I was worried too, but I live in NJ, 2 hrs south of them. I ordered on line around 6PM on Sunday, and got an email at 1PM on Tuesday that the TV would be delivered the next day. I paid the 59 bucks for White Glove delivery. By 3PM on Wednesday, they delivered a brand new TV in perfect condition. It was unopened. I helped the single delivery guy carry it in, but he removed the box, installed the stand, and waited for me to plug it in to make sure it worked. He put batteries in the remote while I was plugging. I'd give them the 5 out 5 stars. The bundle included the BR player and cords which also came Wednesday but it was sent via FedEx.

I saw this set at my Best Buy- I was very impressed- I love the idea of passive 3d for my family. I wish Lg made a 65" in this model- all the features are good enough for me- I will have to pay a premium price for the 65LW6500- when available. I currently have a 60" non 3d set and I don't want to downsize, but I am ready to jump in with the lg passive 3d. I did check out the 65" Vizio at SAMs and while I liked the 3D I did not like the glossy screen- too much light in my family room during the day. I thought the price was reasonable at $3100- it looks like the lg will be at least a thousand more.

Does it seem like these sets are popular or is it too soon to tell if this is the next big thing for the general masses?

That's what I was thinking. But the price was too good to pass up and the PQ was great at BestBuy. So I figured that I'd buy it now to get the price. I'm glad I did, and did not wait as BuyDig upped the price 240 bucks.

Hi all again - 55 5600:

Before I get started the whole family watched Toy Story 3 on Bluray last night.. WOW..

Ok - back to gaming...

Had really bad (for CoD Black Ops.. could not tell with wii other other non fps games) input lag with Component. (again old Xbox360) even with game mode on.

Yesterday I bought a non-MS brand Xbox VGA connector (fifteen vs thirtynine) I hooked it up changed to 1920x1080 in Xbox settings.. and played.(had the TV in game mode etc -- some options like just scan dont work..assume since it is 16/9...so redundant ..

I assumed that 1920x1080 would reduce any processing the TV is doing the most..so did not try other resolutions..

!
!
Totally totally better... I don't have objective testing results..but I can say it cut whatever was happening enough so that I don't notice.

Issue... when I first started playing I had this GREEN static thing come on the screen from top to bottom then went back to normal after about 1-2 seconds... I was like @%@%@? Then it happened once in the game... So I went to xbox setting...they have 3 levels and I picked the normal one .. then for about an hour last night - no issues played great thought all was well with the world.

This morning my son played Star wars lego and the green noise/static jumble happening like 10 times in an hour...

SO... Anyone had issues with VGA?? I havent a) tried a computer.. b) tried other rez's c) did I make a mistake saving money with the non-MS VGA.. I will go and swap for the real one...

Also - Netflix works great..nicer than my xbox or other dvd player gui etc.

BUT-- I notice that when you are in the smart screen and start netflix it goes to non-local dimming..with way too much light/corner flash etc.. I was thinking that I could NOT change the screen settings when in Netflix.. but once you are watching a movie.. you can change it - it brings up a differnet option box and movies looked way better.

I will say that if it wasnt for the local dimming which seems to get rid of the flashlighting totally for me I wouldnt keep it.

I will post the result with new MS VGA connector asap!

Sounds like a loose or bad vga, mind you I don't have the set yet. But I do have experience with vga cables.

Has anyone tried to connect LW5600 to a PC with Nvidia 3D TV driver? I am wondering if LW5600 can be used to play 3D games on PC in real 3D.

Also, when connecting it to xBox360, does the image real 3D or simulated 3D?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have any games, but I was able to play a 3D blu-ray with my Dell xps laptop with a blu-ray drive and Nvidia card and it worked fine so I doubt games would give any problems. Make sure you are using "Just Scan" mode.

I also have two brightly colored bars at the bottom of my screen that are very annoying (only during 3d content from an input source). Any fixes yet?

Thanks bluemoon737 for the information! If anyone else has tried playing PC games on 3D cinema, please let me know if it works! Thanks a lot!!

The one by LG, the LSW400BG is not bad. It tilts, swivels and extends out, and most importantly, it is very easy to install. Try looking online for good deals on this accessory.

So I need a vesa 400x400 mount in order for the mount to work with the 55LW?

I turned off Just scan mode on the TV (during 3D) and use the "original" format out of the BD player and do not see any of these issues. I think the lines are there and are supposed to be on the edge of the screen, like closed caption data across the top for TV viewing, but the normal viewing (not Just scan mode) is supposed to hide these artifacts.

Yes, that is correct. But I used the one made by LG so I don't have to worry about the screws being the wrong size.
i see the LW5600, 6500 and 9500 all have the same vesa mount size which is 400x400.

I found this on a low-profile mount on monoprice and the specification says this
Max VESA: 800x400

will this work for the LW series too?

There are comments on the display not outputting 5.1 over an optical cable.

Is this speculation or fact?

If it's fact:
--what does it output? simple stereo?
--is this something that can be enabled via a firmware update?

5.1 over optic works when watching OTA or cable TV from tuner. Watching USB media does NOT output 5.1, only stereo (2 Channel). Have not had a chance to try others.

Xbox lag:
I redid the VGA connector (just the generic fifteen buck on) no more 'green' static weird issues yet.....on any game or res. The poster who said connection issue was right (I hope) I was lazy and had barely screwed in one screw that night.

Question.. I can do 1920x1080...but it seems a little less crisp than 1280x720.

Lag doesn't seem any worse on 1280x720.. so do you think the LG is doing less processing via VGA no matter what the res?

As of now --- input lag is not an issue for me. Honestly.. without testing I can't say it is now as good as CRT however.. It is not noticable.

Last night mounted it on this : Cheetah Mounts APDAM2B --- I had bought that mount 9 months ago and built the framing to be ready for it...It was easy and nice and can move in..out..tilt etc. I like that you can have the base on the LG...put the bars on it then mount it..then remove the base. Just need to figure out my Pinnavcle MB10000 soundbar mounting.

Anyone can give me the definitive answer when it comes to gaming lag and quality while using HDMI?

That's the only lingering issue foe me

Do you play your 3d blu rays on a ps3? I have noticed it does this only on my ps3. On my 3d blu ray player it does not. May be a glitch, because it also does not do it when I convert my Sat TV to 3d either. I do not think it is a problem with the TV. If you want a quick fix, turn down the backlight to about 30, this will almost completely hide the problem.
