1)When I try to watch a 3D movie from the PC I can't as the only option I have when I click 3D on the remote is '2D-3D'.

2)When I play .avi files that otherwise look really good on any other monitor/TV I've used in the past (even my projector with a 134" image), they look really crappy on this TV. Everything else about the OS looks fine on this TV, just not videos. Resolution doesn't make a difference, the level of crappiness is consistent. Surely there's a setting somewhere???

Hey bkgraham - sorry to hear that you are having some hiccups with the set but once we get them straightened out you will definitely love it! From your posts I gather that A) You are not connected via hdmi to the set because B) you do not have a graphics card or your motherboard does not have an hdmi out (and therefore your chipset may not support 3D).

What PC are you using and what CPU do you have? How are you connected to the tv?

So got my set 2 nights ago and have to say am very impressed. Used the settings on page 8 from Kandionkhrome and they definitely make an improvement from the stock. Did try also the settings from mrjktcvs (page 81) but found them to be a bit washed out for me - but I may need to adjust to reflect the lighting situation in my living room. Still have not played a game yet to check out the lag and confirm the fixes that others have use work but all in all very happy with my purchase.

The only issue I have is playing 3D iso's from my HTPC via Total Media Theater (trial version) and my ATI 6850. They play fine and the 3D is working but the image is not taking up the entire screen. It's not letterboxing - the black bars are on all sides - not just top and bottom.

Also, has anyone gotten the 3D Zone app to work on their LW5600? I installed the app but when I try to access the app it goes through the motion and then I get a pop up that the service is not available (or something like that). Is the app not available for this version of the tv?

Yeah, thanks for reporting back. I did not get in on the low price, so I ordered the 4258 for $2 instead. It looks similar and is on that same list as the 3273 so hopefully it works.

I got it to work on the 5700. I think I got that message right after downloading and installing it. I either rebooted or waited a minute and tried it again and it was available, I can't remember exactly.

Some of the app worked terrifically, the magician holding out the crumpled dollar bill looked like it was coming out of the TV. However, at other times I saw severe ghosting or just couldn't focus at all on what was being displayed. Might just be my eyes, I've noticed I don't handle fast moving/up close 3D as well as my wife.

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep on trying. I am 99.9% it can't be my bandwidth - I am using a wired connection and my speedtest.net is showing 59.21 Mbps. I guess I need to be a bit more patient with it. BTW - when you say reboot do you mean turn the tv on and off or something else?
Just turning the TV off and back on. I'm sure it's not your bandwidth, that's about 10x what I'm running at. Does any other network connected content work (Netflix, Amazon, etc?) And is your firmware up to date?

I remember having problems connecting to Netflix when I first turned the TV on, had to restart my router and then everything was good. Sometimes my router has difficutly picking up devices when I move them to a different wired connection as well.
VUDU works (and have to say the 3d trailers look pretty good for being compressed). Haven't tried the others. I did get the Update Firmware message when I tried to get into VUDU and it did update but can't confirm exactly which version I am right now. What I haven't done and will try tonight is restarting the router.

The LG factory tech was of no help. He acknowledged the clouding but said it is normal and nothing can be done. They are now sending an independent authorized serviceman.

Yes even I tried this calibration today and I noticed that Real Cinema is grayed out.
I also wanted to know if these calibration settings did give anyone a better picture?

These are the settings I am using now and think they are very good especially compared to CNET which is too dark. very vibrant colors.
I have not tried the THX settings as of yet.

First of all, let me say hi to all of you. I will take delivery of new LW5600 tomorrow and I have a couple questions of this set. Btw I also had LH30 and also can access hidden menu with my logitech remote and I assume this should be the same on LW5600. I admit that I have not read the whole 200 pages in this thread but close to have and I didn't see any thing that relate to my question.

My question is about DVR feature which from what I understanding can record only OTA channel, now I have FIOS and I'm not sure if I can record some of premium channel like nat geo or discovery channel. Any one with FIos please confirm this to me.
Also if I'm able to record to portable hdd, will my laptop or WDTv live be able to read or see those files/video? What format LG record video file anyway?

Was anyone able to get Dual Play working? I saw online that LG cinema tv were going to role out dual play. What dual play is you can do full size split screen gaming. it allows each player to see their own screen by overlaying the images. Currently would have to switch some lenses around in the glasses but it seems the 3d option i needed is greyed out. Any tips on getting this to work or if other want to try it and get it to work let me know. I will do the same.

When my xbox is hooked up i only get the 2d->3d box lit up when i need the split screen 3d to show. any one know why the other 3d setting are greyed out.

youtube the following to see what i am talking about Dual view gaming (split screen Full screen!)-Any passive 3D TV can do it now!! COD Demo

I have seen some youtube videos that state that this is working on other models. I would image it would work just fine on this model if that option was not greyed out. all they are doing is selecting the splitscreen 3d option and using glasses with 2 right lenses and another with 2 left lenses. I would like to try this but cant seem to enable the split screen 3d option. the only option that is available is the 2d->3d the others are greyed out. these options are available for say 3d movie playback but not when my xbox is hooked up.

Right now my xbox 360 is hooked up via hd component cables as my xbox is old. I wonder if that could be it. I wonder if there is some setting on the xbox too that might help unlock this. So you were successful in getting the split screen thing to work? Very cool. i was trying this with gears as well

any suggestions?

I watch mkv files via Plex. My PC is hardwired and I used to have the 10 -15 minute play then buffer issue. It has improved a lot since I loaded the latest (I could find) version of Plex Media Server (0.9.5.0-dc1de23). I don't know if it was the combination of the server software or one of the many TV firmware updates that did it, but it has been streaming without buffering for the last two weeks. It might also be related to file size. The recent files have all been less than 5gb big. I'll try a larger file and report if it still occurs.
I'd bet that wireless is your problem. Have you tried using another DLNA server instead? Something like PS3 Media Server. Or try streaming a smaller (non 3d) file and see if that makes a difference. No clue on the GForce settings I'm afraid.
One question, if your router is only 5ft away, have you considered running a cable to your TV to eliminate wireless from the equation?

Thanks so much for posting this info. Vann's delivery company lost my TV and now they are reluctantly issuing a credit. Went by my local Fry's and bought it.....WOO HOO! Saved me $170.00!

I'm going to pick it up in a truck. Ok to lay it down in the bed or does it need to be standing up?

Thanks,

Barry

It's not a plasma so no it doesn't need to be standing up.

Do you have a set of component cables for your xbox. If so could you see if you use them if the options are greyed out. If not no worries. I will see if I can borrow my brothers xbox that has the hdmi

I don't have the cables but I read somewhere that the xbox only passes 3d through hdmi. Also I did test on gears of war split screen and it does work you get full screen split screen

Hmmm...is your hdmi plug high speed? The 6850 does do 3d (this is what I am using) so not sure what else the issue could be. What resolution are you using?

I emailed LG Canada on this issue, ie can the 55LW6500 be transported lying down or must it be in the upright position. Their reply stated that it must be transported in the upright position to avoid damage. I would play it safe and securely tie the box off in that position.

OK - lag was killing me on this TV. At times, it would lag, at other times, it would not show a sign.

I thought the HDMI 3 trick did it, but it didn't. BUT - I have been able to reproduce and fix the steps 100% with this method on ANY input.

Make sure the label is on PC!

Connect your console/PC to any input. If there is lag - power off the PC or console, wait a second, then turn it back on. Poof! No lag.

I play SBS 3D movies off of my HTPC, and when I enable 3D, the lag returns. Powering off the computer gets rid of the lag every single time. I tested lag with my XBOX 360 and sure enough, rebooting the console works.

It's sort of annoying to reboot after watching a movie, but whatever - it works. Hopefully a firmware update will come out to fix this permanently.
