Thanks for the tip, that input delay could be a major pain.
Would powering TV first, switching to PC input and then powering computer work every time, instead of rebooting? I remember in the past, I had some electronics hooked together where proper powering sequence was essential for proper operation, is it a case here as well?
I'm too busy to test anything until weekend, but I think I'll drag my CRT monitor from the basement and actually experiment with it and measure delay exactly.

Dunno. I left the TV on through the whole process. I don't think it would hurt though.

I just think the handshake between the TV and whatever device just needs to be reset, so powering off the TV might work just as well. (But I think that would have been discovered by now if it were the case.)

I thought the HDMI 3 trick did it, but it didn't. BUT - I have been able to reproduce and fix the steps 100% with this method on ANY input.

Make sure the label is on PC!

Connect your console/PC to any input. If there is lag - power off the PC or console, wait a second, then turn it back on. Poof! No lag.

I play SBS 3D movies off of my HTPC, and when I enable 3D, the lag returns. Powering off the computer gets rid of the lag every single time. I tested lag with my XBOX 360 and sure enough, rebooting the console works.

It's sort of annoying to reboot after watching a movie, but whatever - it works. Hopefully a firmware update will come out to fix this permanently.

If the lag is coming back AFTER you view a 3D movie it may be the resolution / timings that are being changed but not reverting back to your original setting. What software are you using to view the SBS 3D movies?

I enabled the DVR on my TV, but I don't see anything about time machine on my TV. I had a 5 year old LG TV that had a dvr built in, so I have all the buttons for fast forward, rewind, record etc. The guide button on the old remote doesn't bring anything up though. It will start recording if I press record. The recordings will show up in the recorded TV menu on the right. However, I have no way of scheduling a recording. It has been mentioned previously that the time machine app is in the quick menu, but I don't have it. I think the person that posted that actually had a LW5700. I have the 47LW5600. Does anyone have this time machine app on the LW5600 model?

Media Player Classic.

The videos aren't changing any timings or anything, it's only when I enable 3D mode that it happens.

Even if I don't run any videos (or anything,) enable 3D, then disable it, voila - I have lag.

I swear 3D modes are enabling 120Hz, even when 120Hz is selected to be disabled in the 3D Video menu. It's something I am learning to live with, but I hope it's fixed soon.

Wth, this TV has a DVR function...lol. I need to really read through this thread completely.

Does anybody here have it connected to their computer? I bought this tv to double as a media tv for my htpc. I used to play games on my other 46" inch tv with no input lag at all, now with this one no matter what setting i choose i'm measuring about 80-100ms lag with the reaction test. (I average about 200 on my computer, 280 on the tv) Could it possibly be the video card as well? I have a 4870 ati.

Anybody found any good APPS for this yet?

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I only see a VERY limited number. Maybe 15? Would like to have a nice Free 3D app.

My son enjoys some of the games on there, but nothing really looks like it would be worth downloading to me.

Oh yeah, A few posts back a guy asked about PLEX. Im running the newest version of plex on a Win 7 x64 PC. Newest firmware on the TV. Just updated yesterday. And instantly was watching RIO 3d from my PC. Found out my wireless is junk...lol...Lots of pixelation going on with the movie. It would clear up for 3 seconds, then get real pixelated for 20 seconds, then clear up and vice versa. I'm going to try tonight watching it from my thumb drive. Hope its just my router not getting enough bandwidth.

I was able to enable the time machine on my 55LW5600. You will have to press the yellow button on the remote to bring up the time machine app which you can then schedule a recording. You can only record OTA channels though.

Welcome to the board Lanzer. Have you done the label change move and switch to hdmi 3 yet? Do a search for "lag" in this thread and you will see various posts on the lag and solution(s) that were found to help minimize it. FYI - I do have my HTPC connected to my tv and am using a 6850 ati.

Hmmm..I need to try this out. I've done the opposite actually - played a game of NBA 2k12 and then watched some 3D and then shut down and went to bed. I wonder if just changing the inputs on the tv (faster than waiting for the pc to shut down and restart) will get you back to normal too?

Wow, thanks, I will try this tonight and report back. I searched this thread for "time machine", and there was no mention of using the yellow button to bring up the scheduler. I just assumed it wasn't there because it is nowhere to be found in any of the menus.

I can tell you it is pretty sweet did some more split screen full screen multilayer today and it is nice having the whole screen instead of half. there is a little ghosting but its not bad you have to really look for it . I just used the free glasses i got from hugo last weekend and made one pair right lenses and the other left works like a charm

Hah. I was wondering myself if this would work. Nice to hear it does.

Nah it doesn't. I think there needs to be a moment of disconnection between the devices. Maybe pulling the HDMI cable would be the fastest (and probably damaging) method.
I will make sure to give that a try when i get home! By any chance, is there any explanation as to why hdmi 3 might be the better option?

Also, about how much lag are you receiving on your tv? To be perfectly honest i'm fine with 80ms lag while using the mouse and browsing around, but it's so much more noticeable when playing games like rage or even skyrim. My wife of course says she doesn't really mind it when she plays skyrim but i know she notices it! lol
I don't really want to return the tv as the 3d is amazing on it and the picture quality is superb.

One the label is fixed, and the HDMI port is set (I had put mines to 3, but changed it back to 2) it should be perfect. I play a TON of FPS on my HTPC (with GTX580) and the lag was killing me, but after I put the settings right, I was golden.

Currently at [what feels like] the last level of Dues Ex - can't wait to leave work so I can finish it. I played about the last 3rd of the game on my TV, I am going to go blind.

Going to see if I can get IZ3D drivers to work to play in 3D. Supposedly it works well with passive screens.

Hi, skype camera has doubled in price, now it's $130 ebuynow site mentioned earlier (can't post links)
I have logitech tv cam, which I suppose has the same capabilities and also more nice-looking. Is there any way to hack TV to support it?

I've heard about the openlgtv.org.ru site, but they warn about bricking TV and as far as I understood it's more for european models.
well.. i can confirm that the DVR function works great.. just tested it with a usb powered Seagate 320GB drive.. i went in with the RCA remote and changed DVR to 1 (turning it on). Turned off the tv and back on.. hooked the HDD to USB 1.. it showed it as a normal drive.. i put a few videos on it just to test.. then i hit HOME and on the right side it showed Time Machine.. in that box it said HDD needs to be initialized.. so I click yes.. of course came up with warning.. all data will be deleted.. no biggie.. hit ok.. few seconds.. drive was finished.. now when I hit quick menu there is a Time Machine option.. i tested pausing live tv and it works.. recording.. and i just set to record a show tonight at 8pm to test.. it works on Digital TV from my cable.. but only Digital channels.. not SD.. even though it shows SD has 80hrs recording time and HD shows 32hrs.. will post back after it records show at 8pm

It should be "info" button first then hit the yellow button while in cable tv and Qmenu button while in TV.

Hi

I am getting both 55LW5600 & 55LW5700 for about the same price.
5700 is on sale at costco and hence includes 2 yr warranty.

As per all the reading , the main difference b/w the two set is local dimming and remote. I am not concerned about remote but wanted to know if local dimming is more important than 2 year warranty.

Please help me decide.

Thanks

I would like to try this but cant seem to enable the split screen 3d option. the only option that is available is the 2d->3d the others are greyed out. these options are available for say 3d movie playback but not when my xbox is hooked up.

I noticed the same thing with the wii. Was hoping to try this with Mario Kart.

I wonder if there's a option in the service menu to enable the 3d modes over composite cables. I may give it a look tonight.

In case you missed it, you can turn on local dimming on the 5700 if you have a remote that can get you into the service menu. See this post:

Note: The pin for the service menu is 0413

If it's store delivery they might be setting it up for you- If it's UPS or fedex then that guy wont wait for you to unpack and set up- just look at the box for crushing or holes before signing- They are packed really well with thick styrofoam ends so shouldnt be problem.

If the set is defective then call LG support.

It's about all you can do.

Have them bring it inside your home as closed to its final resting spot as possible. Minimize the amount of moving you have to do once you take possession of the set.
