I had the same issue. There is a place in the menu where you can initialize your service. Do that and it will work.

I guess I'm an idiot, but I can't figure out how to change the audio source. I had the earlier problem with the USB drive. Now I'm trying to watch a movie on Vudu and the audio from my cable box is still coming through my receiver. I have my cable and a PS3 hooked up w/ HDMI to my receiver, and then my receiver to my tv w/ one HDMI. I really don't want to watch everything through the tv speakers and I'm sure I'm just missing some obvious point. Please help!!!

I was ready to buy the LW5600 from Newegg, then I started to look at warranties. What little came up from Google indicated that 1) Newegg is not an LG authorized dealer and 2) LG doesn't provide warranty service for sales from unauthorized dealers. OK, time to get a list of authorized dealers from LG. I looked for at least an hour, and I couldn't find one. All I was able to find was one dealer listed on what looks to be a superceded LG website.

Just to crosscheck, I did the same kind of search for Sony and Samsung and had no difficulty finding such a list.

I ask:

1) Does LG have a list, and if so, where is it, and

2) If there isn't such a publicly available list, how can LG expect people to buy from authorized dealers if they won't say whom the dealers are? If there's no list, anyone buying an LG has to assume the dealer is authorized, and only find out for sure if they need service. The warranty people apparently do have such a list, because they ask people from whom they bought the device to see if it came from an authorized dealer.

I sent an email to LG Customer Service asking about this, and will post any response, but this seems to be an issue of legitimate concern for would-be buyers.

If you go to the LG site, Here: http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/...-55LW5600.jsp#

On the left hand side of the page you will see (in purple) "Find A Retailer"

clicking on this will give a box where you can either enter your zip code or click on "Buy Online" which will show a list of retailers.

I would call Newegg and ask if they are a authorized dealer ! Here: (800) 390-1119 / 5:30am to 5:30pm PST

LED edge dimming can be enabled to limit the amount of light bleeding from the edges. It can be set to off, low, medium, or high. As it increases, so will your contrast level. I get slight bleeding at the corners with dimming off, but can eliminate it entirely by enabling that function.

You should also make sure that all the cabinet screws are tight. If any are loose, snug them up to prevent light infiltration. Hope this helps.

Hey, I'm a new owner of an LG46LW5600 I picked up from Best Buy. I've had it for about 10 days now.

I was tired of watching my favorite tv shows on a little 22" pc monitor so I splurged on a big screen TV . I decided to go with this after looking at CNET's review.

First thing I noticed when I turned on this TV was vertical bands when there was a solid picture. They become obvious on scenes that pan. They arent very obvious when watching normal content.

The other thing I noticed was the HUGE input lag with my PC connected via HDMI.. (heavy mouse, lips out of sync) Game Mode helps a bit, but its still laggy.. I have tested a few games, they are playable but the lag is perceivable.

I have to say watching movies in 3D is great with NVIDIA 3DTV play and stereoscopic player. I had a group of 6 people watching 3D at the same time with this TV and have had no shortage of 3D content these days. That was one of the great things about this HDTV, no expensive 3D glasses to buy but resolution suffers and it is obvious...

I have prior 3D experience with NVIDIA 3D vision glasses on an ASUS VG236H and you can notice loss in resolution if coming from active glasses but the picture is much brighter with the passive glasses. You'll want to only use 3D resolution setting ONLY when viewing 3D content otherwise normal 2D content will look blurry.

I'm thinking to return this set next week for a the Panasonic TC-P50ST30 based on what I've read about its low input lag and screen uniformity and good 3D.

I will miss the passive 3D but I really want something that will have better image quality and less artifacts, especially like when there is a sky scene that is panning.

Maybe I just got a a bad luck in the LG panel lottery? Its a great TV if you don't obsess over things like I tend to do. Either way the input lag and vertical bands make me want to return this set.

Be sure LED Local Dimming is on (set to HIGH, if necessary) and Backlight is below 50.

Hi ecst, You are welcome.

If you were looking into extended warranties, this is a copy of the contract from Service Net, Here: https://lg.yourserviceplan.com/Vendo...-LG-BF-101.pdf

Which I believe is the one available from LG, Here: https://lg.yourserviceplan.com/prese...ayer/Home.aspx

Amazon has a much better price though !

Seems silly Medialink only works with computers and not an actual piece of hardware hooked up to the TV,

MediaLink is basically Plex. Plex is similar to XBMC except that they divided the program into the server part and the client. The Plex Media Server has to run somewhere. MediaLink is the Plex client. Just hooking up a USB hard drive wouldn't work as you wouldn't have the server running. The actual media files can be anywhere on the network such as a NAS but the Plex Media Server has to be able to see them. It's similar to DLNA in that way.

So, if I installed Plex on my computer, where would the HDD be connected to,
the; A/V receiver, a open USB on the computer, or USB on the TV ?

Now, when I complete connecting my computer to the TV via HDMI, how will this change things or will it ?

The hard drive has to be seen by the computer. You would attach it to the computer. I have all my files living on a NAS, but Plex lives on a Mac Mini. The Mini sees the NAS so that's fine. The advantage is that I can put anything noisy in the basement and expand the storage should it be required. If you do attach the drive to the TV you can still play things on it, just not through Plex or DLNA.

Need some help here on a tricky problem. I've had the TV since August. Really liked it except for the dark bands, as shown in the pictures below.

They happen randomly, and once they occur, they stay that way regardless of channels. I have to turn off the TV to make them disappear, only to see them show up again in several hours or days. I cannot pin point any particular channel or source that causes it, except that it happens more with lower resolution materials.

I found that the only way to make them not to occur is turning off Local Dimming, at least for the few days I kept local dimming off. My theory based on my testing is that after local dimming is triggered by certain dark scenes, it fails to turn back on when bright scene returns.

My questions are:
- Have you experienced this problem? What do you think could be causing it?
- Does my theory of local dimming make sense to you?
- Do you know any scenes from a movie that for sure consistently triggered local dimming? I do have an LG technician coming, and I wish I could identify a scene from some movies that will consistently cause this problem for more efficient troubleshooting.

Thanks in advance.

Some sort of stupid link problem with netflix, I had to all of a sudden log on to neflix again yesterday and it quit working as well, goto your netflix account on the internet and deactivate all your devices as it doesn't seem to let you do just one. Then go back into your TV and reactivate and it will start working again.

Hello all. Sorry if this post is out of place but Im new here. I have the LG 55LW5600 connected to a Samsung 7.1 3D theater system. I would like to know why I am not able to get audio through my surround sound when playing youtube and hulu? The sound only seems to play through the TV speaker and totally bypasses my surround sound for some reason. I have messed with the settings on my samsung but it seems that the setting issue is with the TV. Does anyone have any thoughts or has encountered this issue before? Thanks for the help.

I have a Pioneer VSX 1021 and the TV is connected to the receiver "out".
The cable box connects to the receiver HDMI 1. I have the TV internal speakers turned off.

Same thing is happening to me. I have my cable box and my PS3 running to my receiver, and then my receiver running to my tv. I can hear my cable and my PS3 through my surround sound, but when I try to watch something on the the USB or Vudu, I have to use my tv speakers. My receiver is staying on HDMI 1, and is playing the sound from the cable box even though I'm trying to watch a different source. Someone please help!

About how much lag are you getting? with a wired mouse on my tv it's there but not terribly bad. With a wireless mouse it can definitely be felt. I play skyrim on it and rage and it's noticeable but i'm learning to deal with it. Anyway, can you measure your MS delay with a computer and then with your tv and tell me what the difference is?

http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/

for example, on my computer i average about 200ms. On my htpc with the wired mouse i average about 270.. so i'm measuring about a 70ms delay. What is yours?

Your internet is connected directly to the TV I'm assuming. HDMI #1 on the TV is ARC compatible (HDMI 1.4). Is your receiver ARC compatible? If not you will need to use the optical digital out from the TV to your receiver and turn off the TV speakers to turn on the sound out.

Please, anybody watching movies through the usb port?

Guys, I own a 55LW5600 and a 42LD520. After doing the usb hack in the 42LD520 I can watch avi files and listen the audio perfectly from the usb drive. The 55LW5600 supposes to have this feature from factory but when I plugged in the same usb drive with avi files that I watched in my 42LD520, I get a not compatible sound error. Anybody has this issue?

Thanks in advance.
