my 55LW5600 is hooked up via LAN with the router, i am trying to use the LG remote app on both my andriod (HTC Amaze 4G) and iphone, the app does not even find the TV on either of the phones (wifi to same router). after scanning the apps go back to "Rescan"
any clues?
if you are using wired network the app will not find your tv it only works if tv is connected wirelessly

I don't think this is true.

Capt you are correct. My TV is hooked directly to my router and the LG app works just fine on my HTC Inspire.

Is it possible that someone can send me/post the EZ ADJ "white balance" (cool, med and warm) setting from your TV? I was mistaken reset the white balance value. Your help is greatly appreciate!

I have the lw5300 version of this, has anyone had an issue with the tv not powering on? It blinks on red twice (usually it's one blink I think) then goes to the blue/purple led, however the tv doesn't click on. Bought it last Dec.

Try doing a "Hard Reset", maybe it will correct it.

Is that just unplugging it and replugging it back in, or is there a set key on the remote to use for that? If it's just replugging, no dice. Tried another surge protector too (and my other devices in that one still work fine)

Yes, just what I meant to do.

Now I'm blank for answers. I don't recall a previous post with the same condition.

Am I reading the post correctly? how are you guys getting DTS passthough?

I upgraded to 4.03.03 and when i use DLNA with one of my MKV with DTS it still says audio unsupported like all prior firmware. The biggest let down of this TV was no DTS passthrough, but i see some are able to get it to work and want to know how?

I would love to install Plex to my server and use that it it worked with DTS

well you are lucky, because i have been unable to get the app to work unless i use wireless with the tv
post #7931 of 8099
i have tried with two different iphones and one andriod phone, it dosnt work with any of them.
since the latest update, DTS gets passthrough for me but my receiver shows dolbyD and not DTS. this is playing mkv bluray 1080p file through plex server with media link app on the tv.

That's not all there is to a hard reset, to my understanding. You need to unplug the TV then hold the power button on the TV for at least 15 sec.

That's what I was told by LG when I had an issue with my set.

Just a quick question.
When I bought the tv I enabled THX setting in the EZ ADJUST menu and everything in there seemed fine. However, now when I wanted to enable DVR function the EZ menu seems to be locked - I'm able to enter the menu but can't change anything.

Wondering if this has something to do with LG's firmware updates locking it?

Actually Tool Option3 is all grayed out. Any ideas?

I can't wait to delve into all the features, settings, etc... I for one am impressed. The whole Smart TV is very intuitive and easy to get around. Worth every penny to me.link

Congratulations !

Just wait 'til you see what this baby can do.

Just wanted to add that my 55lw5600 will be one year old Sept 17th and I have not had any problems with it all. The only real disappointment I have with it is the DTS sound. I don't listen to it though the stereo to often (which is to old to have DTS). Streaming movies from the computer has worked well and I wanted that. The rest...I didnt expect a whole lot so whatever doesnt function that well is ok with me as I understand technology keeps progressing while getting cheaper all the time. As my original posts...it was an upgrade from a 25" CRT so I have been happy as hell with it. If it continues to run trouble free for some years down the road I'll consider it a good buy. I would have also liked at USB 3.0 to match my Fantom G Force 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (October of last year). Also my Panasonic DMP-BDT310 I bought at the same time as the TV has also been trouble free and a real pleasure. Three products closing on a year...all good. I hope I havent jinxed myself!

Campingglen, Nice to hear you have not had any problems at all.

Nov. 8th mine will be 1 year, also I have not had a single thing to go wrong either. Just one glitch with a up-date which was fixed real quick.

I don't know about you but I'm kinda wondering if I should spring for the extended warranty, for the extra coverage.

The previous TV was a 32" CRT, you are right, What a difference !

Since we are sharing reliability stories, I have had mine for about 10 months. Unfortunately, I have a service tech coming out this friday to take a look at my screen. It has developed a dark spot about the size of a nickel in the very center of the screen. No idea what could have caused it, it just started suddenly.

Anyone else had this issue? It's under warranty so I'm not too stressed, but its too bad!
The only other thing I remember is some people found fingerprints on the inside of the screen, mostly when they first got the TV.

Hope you post back with up-dates on how this is resolved.

Why is the Just for Kids channel not on the LG netflix app? I have my niece visiting for the weekend and while Netflix has a boatload of kids movies/shows, the Just For Kids channel is no where found.

The tech is coming out today to take a look. I'll try to snap a photo of the blotch on the screen and post it - my googling shows that other people have had this issue but it seems rare.

Well I came searching for the 47LW5600 forums to see if anyone has had issues with the sound (speakers or audio amps) going bad on their LG sets? I just noticed that my 47LW5600 set is distorting now on what seems to be the left channel speaker. It comes out as if under water. Sort of gurgling sounding and particularly with audio content with bass in it. I noticed it a few days ago and thought it was just my TWRR cable signal bad signal quality on certain channels. But tonight I noticed it on more channels. This gurgling underwater distortion is just happening on the TV Speakers itself. The same HDMI signal feed that goes to and through my SONY ES recevier plays fine. I don't always listen to TV through my big surround sound rig (to save money on electric bills) so I use the TV speakers most of the time for non Hi-Fi programs (like news).
The set was purchased in Dec 2011 and it is only about 9 months old! I was so happy with this 47LW5600 set but now I am disappointed that it is not reliable. Used daily with low volume level, never blasting it through the speakers (not that it plays that loud if you turn it up anyway). But to me, it sounds like the amplifier chip has blown out and failing or the speaker itself self destructed and is creating the distorted audio.

Anyone else have a problem with the built in speaker sound? I am wondering if it is a common failure point or I just got bad luck on my set.mad.gif

Call LG service for the TV speakers or shut them off and use your receiver 100% of the time....it is not the power hog you think it is. Get yourself a Kill-A-Watt EZ http://www.amazon.com/P3-International-P4460-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B000RGF29Q. You'll be surprised how little the system costs you to run.

Well I did more troubleshooting on the distorted audio sound last night and discovered that the internal speakers and amp sound and play fine when I switch over and watch "Over The Air" (OTA) HD TV channels.
So it is not the internal amp nor speakers but is now pointing to a bad HDMI logic board or other. All HDMI_1 through HDMI_4 inputs are affected. Bad HDMI audio. Bad LG. Bad.mad.gif

I was not referring to the TV as a power hog. I was referring to my High Power Home Theater system. The LG TV itself has a rating of $14/Year Estimated Energy Cost.
Yes, you said you kept the receiver off to save power and I understood that.
That is why I suggested you just use the receiver 100% of the time.
The sound has to be considerably better than what the TV produces and the receiver is not a power hog. I bet it uses less than 100 watts.

As far as your audio problem goes - if you haven't done a hard reset since the problem started, try doing one to see what happens.
For a hard reset (if you don't already know) do the following:
  • unplug TV
  • with TV unplugged, press the power button (either on remote or TV) to drain residual voltages in the TV
  • wait about 30 seconds
  • plug TV back in and turn it on

I did the hard reset procedure. Did not seem to change anything.
I also performed the restore back to previous firmware 04.03.02 and that made no difference either.
I then let the TV perform the automatic download and update back to latest firmware 04.03.03.
Still the same with distorted audio on Time Warner Cable Cisco 4742HDC cable box HDMI feed.

Update on analysis of symtom:
I have connected a different HDMI source (my Sony BluRay DVD player) and played that through the LG TV speakers.
It plays perfectly as does "Over the Air" TV reception.
Very odd that the TWC box signal distorts only when feeding through this LG TV's speakers but when I plug that
same cable box HDMI signal feed into my Sony ES receiver it plays without distortion.

This leads me to conclude that it might be something with the Time Warner HDMI signal feed from the cable box
that has changed recently that the LG TV HDMI circuits cannot cope with, but the Sony receiver circuits are not affected by.
Time Warner Cable has recently been rolling out a new software update to fix their Navigator GUI presentation screens.
I am wondering if they did something that affects the cable box'es HDMI signal level or format that is causing the LG TV
not to decode it cleanly any longer.
