Official LG 47LW5600/55LW5600 "Passive 3D" Owners Thread - Page 267

Thank's for the post shark1987

Nice to see a truthful up-date post.

Up-date took seven minutes to complete with reboot.

The only thing I see changed was the "Home" set-up page was reformatted.

Does anyone out there like this TV for competitive FPS gaming? There have been multiple posts about the input lag on this TV, and I've never been able to get the lag below 90ms as measured by the auto-calibration within Rock Band 3. I haven't found the proper procedure to get to the 90ms number either. Every time I want to play a game I need to first fire up RB3 and see what the lag is, and I always end up having to either change the inputs (go from HDMI2 (where my xbox is connect) to HDMI3 then back, NOT change labels) or turn the TV off and back on to get down below 100.

My son was having this problem with the Xbox - GoW was lagging, he got shot all the time.

We changed the audio output on the Xbox. Using stereo setting instead of digital surround, he said that the lag disappeared.

HT receiver remixes Xbox stereo sound to 7.1, but he cares more about making the shots than the audio quality.

Setup:

Xbox360 HDMI => Samsung HW-D7000 HDMI => LG55lw5600.

NOTE: it does seem to vary by game. Modern Warfare & GoW lag, but others (Halo, Mortal Combat) do not. Dunno why.

Update went fine, I have no idea what is new/changed. I don't really use the apps.

I got the update just fine as well. tried to find infor on the version online but can't find any mention. Would be nice to know what changed besides the menu screen re-ordered...

so do we have a final solution to the input lag on this tv? I have my PS3 and 360 hooked up, The PS3 seems to be a lot better with it when I set the input to PC and turn off all the picture and edge enhancements. 360 still have some serious lag issue no matter what I try.

I know the update changed Amazon where you can play movies in HD that you own.

Saw the update to 5.00.04 and now see an american express ad where the lg was
.Pretty shady of LG ...
I haven't seen an ad yet, but, yeah, not a fan of advertisements in my TV SETUP MENU! Egads.
It doesn't appear to be an ad.

It is called a "App" and is also listed under LG Apps on the right hand side of the screen.

Have no idea what it says or what it does as I will not download it.

My 47" now seems to be stuck in a firmware download endless error loop. So, I downloaded Software_File (Version_05.00.04).zip 220,375K to my PC from the LG support site.
Is it possible to do a manual update of the FW for this TV, such as with a USB flash drive?
As per the instructions on LG's Support pages get a flash USB drive and make a folder on it entitled LG_DTV - make sure it's exactly that and then download the update from their website to a computer desktop, make sure you select the right country etc.
Expand the downloaded file into that folder and then simply insert it into one of the USB slots on the rear of the TV and the TV will do the rest.

I guess I was lucky with this one it downloaded pretty quickly over the wired connection, but usually takes quite a while. Don't even think about a wireless connection as that will take forever.
Thanks Peter, I'll give it a try later today.
You're welcome. Good luck. Actually I never checked to see of the update was showing on LG's website first before installing it. I usually do but Toronto downtown was hit with rolling Internet outages for the last few days, with my ISP and possibly others on the blink, so was keeping my surfing to the minimum. Someone apparently severed a few fibre-optic cables by digging in the wrong spot.

Here you go: http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-47LW5600 and the software installation guide PDF is listed at the bottom.

actually with the latest update the remote app started working, which was previously not working for me.

1- iphone 5.1
2- andriod 2.3
3- andriod ICS
It wasn't working here either and now is, thanks for pointing that out.
The manual update worked fine - all is OK now. Thanks again.
Good, glad you're OK.

I have a 55LW5700 which I had "changed" to a 5600 using the service menu. If I take this latest firmware upgrade, does this mean I will have to "change" it again?
It shouldn't wipe that out, it didn't on mine. All that needs re-doing is to set the clock.

scottjen26,

Thank you so much for that spreadsheet, it was exactly what I was looking for in this thread! Curiously, I too bought my LG LW5600 last December (12/18/2011) and am still lovin' every minute of it biggrin.gif

(Okay, so I wasn't really expecting a detailed spreadsheet, just some more current settings in case I could tweak my TV a bit more) My main use is blu-ray movies (blu-ray 3D as well), so your settings spreadsheet looks great! I'll have to try them out and see what I like best...

There's your file again for those who missed it:

LG Settings Comparison.xls 31k .xls file

Thanks again!

been so lazy to calibrate the TV and have had it for 3 months, this spreadsheet is gonna save me a ton of time. Thanks also to whomever created it.

So my personal opinion is that the speakers on this TV are utterly terrible and thus I'm wondering if the only solution is to use external speakers? My main problem is they're simply too quiet.

I have a set of Logitech Z5500 speakers that I've used with this TV before, and will probably continue to use. It's a little inconvenient to have to keep a separate remote for sound, so is there's a way to let my TV control the Logitech speakers? This is such a problem for me that I've even considered buying a Logitech Harmony remote to try and fix this. Thanks!

How do you have the speakers connected ?

With an optical cable. TOSLINK I believe.

Do you use Simplink for a connection or is there some other way it would give you a choice for output, mine has a choice of either TV or Home Theater speakers.

I must admit I don't know how TOSLINK works.
Speaking of clock...why when turning on the set does the display show graphics indicating what should be the time represented by two dashes, colon, two dashes when i have set the time correctly in the settings???

EDIT: In addition, if Logitech speakers are connected via TOSLINK (spDIF, optical, all the same...) then the setting would be tv speakers off or home theater speakers. Presumably the logitech system is not passive but powered, therefore, synonomous with a home theater system in a sense.

Awesome thanks for the input guys. I haven't hooked them up but I did see some settings in the TV's menú that suggests that I might be able to do what I'm trying to do. Gonna hook everything thing up and give it a shot!

Does anyone know if it's possible to use exFAT format? I use a Mac for practically everything I do and as you might know, the FAT32 is limited to 4 gigs per file and the tv will not recognize OS extended and it seems that it will not recognize exFAT as well. I have some movie files that are beyond 4 gigs. I would have thought LG would have an update for exFAT by now. If anyone knows of a hack of some sort to go around this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!biggrin.gif

I should note that I'm talking about external hard drives. smile.gif
