Did not find this covered before - I have my 55LW550 connected via HDMI1 to my Marantz AV7005 pre/pro. The TV is used purely as a monitor, I do not use its tuner or any of the SmartTV stuff.. As I understand it, I should be able to have the TV power itself on and off when the Marantz is powered on/off, at least if I read the manual correctly.

But I can only get it to work the other way around - the TV will turn on or off the Marantz when I activate Simplink. The power on/off options do not show in the Simplink menu.

Anyone who know how to set this up?

I think this may have something to do with the TV Smart Share software. All my media comes from my HTPC computer through an HDMI cable. My HTPC use a HDHomeRun Prime and a HDHomeRun Dual Tuner that is on my network to provide all my cable and network programs. The HDHomeRun Prime shows up as 3 Smart Share devices but not the HDHomeRun Dual Tuner, maybe because it is behind a network switch. When I select one of the HDHomeRun Prime devices there is a pause of about 5 seconds then the TV turns off and on. I thinking that the TV software update is having a problem with one or both of this Smart Share Devices. My original 4.02.62 firmware also displays the three HDHomeRun Prime devices and when I click one of them, it also pauses for about 5 seconds then turns off and on. However, as I mentioned already the original 4.02.62 firmware doesn’t turn off and on during normal operations.
I also notice that when I first turn the TV on in the morning that after about an 1 hour and 10-20 minutes it always powers off and on.
To test my theory I have removed the network dongle which prevents the TV Smart Share devices from being detected and should prevent the problem. I'll post back my results.

Update 6/7/2012
Since I removed the network dongle 1 1/2 days ago there has been no problems with the TV turning off and on. I notice the HDHomeRun firmware had an update so I installed it to see if that may help. I plugged in the network dongle to see if that may fix this. Right after I turned the TV back on, it run for 15 minutes before turning off and on again and is back to turning off and on every 1 to 3 hours now. I differently think the TV is having a problem with one of the HDHomeRun devices.
I've also noticed that the TV model/type is GLOBAL-PLAT3 and serial number is SKJY1107. I read that the service tech should have gone into the service menu and set it back to the correct numbers. Anyone know the key code commands to activate the service menu?

Update 6/9/2012
The service tech came out and he changed the TV model and serial number.  He talked by phone to his support person and after testing for several other possible reasons for this problem, they have asked me to remove the network dongle and use a direct network connection to see if that has any affect. They said if that doesn’t fix the issue then I should remove the HDHomeRun devices from my network or run the TV without the network. I was hoping that the support person would at least suggest that maybe the 4.03.02 firmware update was at fault (since the original 4.02.62 firmware worked fine) and that they would look into this issue, but of cause, I was being too optimistic.

So, that’s it. I’m on my own. I will update this post if the direct network connection does fix this issue. Otherwise, I’ll have to go back to the original 4.02.62 firmware or use the TV without a network, or maybe take it back to Costco.

Update 10/14/2012
I updated my 47LW5700 firmware this morning to 05.00.04 to see if LG fixed the DNLA device conflict with my HDHomeRun Prime. It's been 12 hours and its still running without powering off and on so I think its finally fixed.
Not only that but they fixed the Cinema Zoom so it zooms vertically and horizontally as it should in order to retain the aspect ratio. Before it only zoomed horizontally which made it useless. That allowed me to finally set both Windows 7 and Media Center display resolution to 1920X1080 and expanding the LG screen display by setting the Cinema Zoom to 4. The picture quality seems much better.
So I guess my only complaint now is why did it take so long to get things right?

I have searched this thread and can’t find answer or I missed something.

Do any of the firmware updates remove any of the EZ-ADJUST options, like the AC3 EDID D/L and others? I haven't done any firmware updates since I bought the 55LW5600 six months ago.

Ok, I have seen things about settings posted before about various tv's. I was under the impression that each set must be calibrated individually because of variances in the manufacturing process, not to mention the location of each set.

I see a wide range of settings between the 'Pro Calibration' and 'Best Setup based on three months of testing' categories. That 'Best' category is pretty shoddy if you ask me.

Am I missing something here?

I didn't mean disrespect or anything. By 'shoddy' I meant that those values were pushed way up on the high end and seemed a little too much.

I did mine with a Directv remote. If you have them as a provider, search around and you should be able to find it..I can't even remember what the code was!

I've had this problem with my LW5700 that I've modified to be a 5600. Ever since the update, Netflix is not working for me. I've tried disconnecting my TV in the Netflix settings to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's been a long time since I've checked in on this thread, I'm curious if there was ever any resolution on some of the gaming lag that some people were experiencing. I still experience lag on my Wii, though I am able to reduce it by turning the Wii all the way off and back on, and setting my input type to PC.

I bought a 55lw5600 last year & it works great. When I first got it I hooked my Asus A53E laptop HDMI output to the 55lw5600 HDMI input & it worked fine.

Last week I connected the laptop HDMI output again to the HDMI input #3 on the 55lw5600 and no signal was detected.

I tested the HDMI laptop output on a computer monitor & it worked so I know that the HDMI cable works and that the laptop HDMI output works. I also know how to goggle the laptop’s display mode to display on an external monitor.

I have used the 55lw5600 HDMI input #3 with 2 different digital cameras so I know that the 55lw5600 HDMI input #3 works.

Is there a 55lw5600 configuration that I need to change to get the 55lw5600 to work with a laptop?

Or, do I need to change the laptop resolution (currently set at 1366 x 768)? I’ll test this but if it doesn’t work do I need to tweak 55lw5600 configuration settings?

In the recent updates, there are now ads in the Home screen just under the current video feed where the Input and Setup buttons normally are. Also, my Simplink settings have been wiped out and my PS3 can no longer be controlled by my TV remote.

Question to ALL 55LW5600 Owners:

I've set my TV to cinema picture mode and local dimming to low, the problem is whenever I turn the TV on it takes 8 seconds for the TV picture to adjust to cinema picture mode. It basically always turns on in standard picture mode and 8 seconds latter will turn to cinema mode ( dimmer picture ). I made sure the TV was in Home Mode and not Demo mode- not sure why it seems to forget this picture setting for the first 8 seconds of start up ? My other LG TV's ( eg. LV3700) always turn on to the picture setting I set it to.

Is this normal ? Do your lw5600 sets behave this way ?

Any ideas on how to fix? It is on the edge, is bright blue.
Came on Friday and in a black scene it disappears, but the rest of the time is there. Almost like the entire column of pixels is stuck on blue.

Also calling my CC company as they may have extended warranty. Bought the TV 16 months ago.

I have the LG 55LW5700 which I have configured to appear as 55LW5600. It has the latest firmware 05.00.04. However, it doesn't list the latest Verizon FIOS app when I go to try and download it from LG apps and when I try to download it from the website (LINK), it says 'FiOS TV' cannot be played on your device.

Can someone confirm if the problem is with my Firmware version or is the FIOS app not appearing under anyone's app list? Any way to get it to appear?

Hi everyone im from Venezuela south america, i am worry about my tv Lg LW5600 47" , i always read this post even before get my tv, ( sorry my english is bad) i learn from yours to adquire this tv..... my problem is this: after last update software 5.00.04 the tv works perfect, but i update the 4.03.03 to the new one 5.00.04 and start a fail! the tv turn off the screen continue the sound and change channels but i cant see because the screen its out black like off. i turn off the tv and maybe 10minutes i turn on and come back to life, but then turn off again the screen! someone has this problem? please help me. i try to change the software to previous, results:change the menu but the problem persist. too try to disable the energy star in the menu EZ, i put off and the problem persist... if any of yours can help i realy apreciate!!! thanks you.

Hello All,

Issue: HDMI # 2 always shows "No signal"

I have a 47LW5600. I always used HDMI # 2 for my Bluray player. I had used a samsung C5500 Bluray player which I sold couple of months ago. Recently I bought Panasonic 3D BDT220 and connected HDMI #2 to it. Surprizingly now the HDMI doesnt detect any signal.

Combinations Tried:
Changed HDMI cable on HDMI2 = Not working
Used same HDMI cabe on HDMI 1,3 and 4 = Working
Used Bluray on HDMI 1,3,4 = Working
Used Computer, DVR on HDMI 2 = Not working


Anytime I connect a new device to HDMI#2, I get a on Screen Message that new device has been detected on HDMI 2, do you want to change input ? If I do, after few seconds it says "No Signal".

This experiment confirms that it may not be the cable or device, it is the port issue. However there was nothing changed between Samsung Bluray and Panasonic Bluray. For the 2 months that I did not use the port, what could have changed ?

Is there anything that Samsung's Anynet+ could have created a signature powerlink between the two device ? How do I diagnose if the HDMI#2 is working (any service diagnostic)

I've had my set since it first came out and have enabled the menus to allow for the THX video settings but never messed with the AC3 setting since I plugged my optical cable directly to my devices.
Tonight, I decided to enable the AC3 pass through but have not had any luck..

I entered the service menu -- passcode 0413
scroll down to AC3 EDID D/L --- OK
Select Start --- all items changed from NG to OK(AC3)
Press Exit to get out of the menu

but I still don't pass through AC3 --- my receiver only shows Stereo

I've tried resetting it back to NG with the cables unplugged and setting it back as mentioned in an earlier post but still had no luck.
I've also tried shutting off the TV for about a minute after make the change.

Does anyone have any tips for this situation?

not sure if this has been answered previously, but my lg 47lw5600 refuses to display 3D blu ray discs now. Any idea why? I put in a disc and all I get is audio. Tried 3 different LG players and a Panasonic, all the same result. Audio only. I can do the 2d to 3d conversion, but no frame packed 3d blu rays work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And yes, the set has the newest firmware installed. 5.0.00.4 I believe.

I have the 55lw5600 and today is my first real attempt at using the lg apps. I am using it to play Amazon Prime and it is working ok. I have one little problem though, it appears to have the soap opera effect when streaming through the tv. Anyone else noticed this? I don't normally see this when I stream through other devices. Any help is appreciated.

I have Tru Motion off for all inputs.
