turn off TruMotion...

*update
Had LG come out and they replaced the main HDMI board and whet ever its attached too. Looks like the port stopped accepting any 3D source. Works again now, but curious if anyone else is having this issue...

anyone tried the DVR mode? what format does it record the video in? I saw the guide but its for the LW5700, is accessing the service menu the same as the LW5700 with the same code?

Is there any way to get the tv to auto recognize 3d videos playing? I play sbs 3d files through my htpc and I would love if it could auto recognize and switch to sbs mode.
If not is there a command I can program for my Logitech harmony remote to have a one step switch to 3d Sbs mode?
I will either be playing them through htpc or wd tv live streaming.

Thanks for any help.

I own the 42LW5700.

How are people finding the 3D?

After following a number of 3D movie threads I realised that all the amazing scenes that everyone was talking about were just not working for me. When the fim was supposed to POP it just blurred. Changing the 3D settings didnt help, viewing distance from TV didnt help, frmware didnt help, changing HDMI cables didnt help.

Because it's a grey area it's hard to determine that something is broken. Especially when somethings work perfctly. The 'Imax Under the Sea -Potato Cod' scene is amazing. Cod in middle of lounge room. There is a You tube video of a guy with a drill. That is also perfect. The drill not only comes way out of the TV (further than the Cod) but it's in perfect focus. Thor 3D has some incredible depth.

But on average the 3D does not seem to work.

What do you think? Has anyone seen an improvement by changing or adjusting some aspect of the 3D?

I have the same set and have quite a few 3D movies plus my cable supplier puts out 1 3D channel, then there's the 2D to 3D conversion of course. I find the 3D effect varies from movie to movie, programme to programme, but is usually excellent. The set even makes a good job using the 2D to 3D processing.
Looking at it for too long however, gives me a headache. Probably my poor eyesight (macular degeneration) combined with the dimming effect of the glasses/clip-ons.
So I usually watch only 1 movie then give it a rest and go back to the 2D setting.
I've played around with the settings to some extent and will admit there could be something I need to adjust.

There is considerable variation in 3D quality/structure among films, due to production and/or source.

Source example: We streamed the Lorax 3D over Uverse, and there was a lot of pixellation and variance in 3D quality. I chalked it up to compression. We watched Brave on 3D Blu (via Samsung HW-D7000), and it was the absolute best 3D quality I've ever seen.

But, Film Production is a really big factor - the prior Resident Evil 3d did not look great to me, and Thor was a lot more mixed in 3D quality relative to the Avengers, Avatar, and Transformers, as examples. This is where the whole "shot in 3D" vs. post-production effects come into play, as well as cinematography, etc.

I did shift the TV's 3D depth and color/resolution settings to improve picture following one of the threads on this forum, but ultimately the variation comes from the films, not the TV, IMO. Hope this helps. G

Just a note that I posed about my experience with my LG 47LW4600 and a Samsung HW-E450 sound bar over in that form...

For $150 refurb at TigerDirect I couldn't be happier. I also picked up the LG Wireless Media box sender/receiver kit for $20 at All4Cellular and it has no problems between the devices in the basement and upstairs, so my TV received a very happy New Year upgrade. smile.gif

Hey Everyone,

Alright so I've tried everything I could find online but I still can't get DTS pass-through to work for my LG 42LW5700. I have an RCA remote and have accessed both the EZ-Service Menu and the advanced EZ-Service Menu and cannot find the option to switch it to AC3 (which is supposed to enable DTS pass-through). I have also changed my country to Korea and it still doesn't work!! I've tried it with several different devices but when the device is outputting DTS my receiver flashing between DD and PCM a few times and then stays on PCM with no sound. I can plug my devices directly into my receiver (which is a LG TS913SS) and get DTS sound but not through my TV.

Somebody please help!!! thanks smile.gif

Here are the steps I followed to enable the AC3.. (although it doesn't seem to work for me.. I get AC3 on the TV menu, but it doesn't pass anything but stereo)

I entered the service menu -- passcode 0413
scroll down to AC3 EDID D/L --- OK
Select Start --- all items changed from NG to OK(AC3)
Press Exit to get out of the menu

but I still don't pass through AC3 --- my receiver only shows Stereo

I've tried resetting it back to NG with the cables unplugged and setting it back as mentioned in an earlier post but still had no luck.
I've also tried shutting off the TV for about a minute after make the change.

Yeah I tried the same thing and still can't get DTS to pass-through so I've decided to just convert all my videos to DD... unless someone knows a solution.

Is there a way to make the aspect ratio stay in 16x9? Mine keeps changing to "just scan" which causes scanning lines across the top on some black screens.

For watching Blu-rays or DVDs, adjust the 16:9 settings on your BD/DVD player... Hope it helps!

I need help. My 55" just turned 13-month olds and last night screen went off during a Netflix movie. Except for ota tv sound, only thing displays is the LG logo on startup then a blank screen. So out of factory 1 year warranty, anything i can do, ie, reset, call for help, scream? TIA.

Not saying this is the solution for you, but if I recall correctly, a Hard Reset is done by pulling the power plug, then holding in the Power button on the TV for 30 seconds. Then I suggest you wait a minute, then put in the power plug, then press the power button on the TV.

Also, I read something similar to your problem at Post # 7150.

Thx for your response. Hard reset doesn't help. No OSB or anything display so I'm guessing that the main board went kaput but where the logo came from?

Lot of credit cards extend manufacturer's warranties by 1 year. You can check if you paid with a credit card that does that.

Thx for the reminder. I was upset with myself for not using AX for this purchase but my Chase freedom signature visa did provide the same one year extra warranty so hopefully it will got fix. My guess it's the main board failure due to long hours of Netflix streaming (I read on fixya.com that the cpu get cooked due to lack of ventilation). I need to get an estimate so anyone has good recommendation for repair shop?

Problem is that his Netflix account is still on the TV, which would be fine if I didn't have my own account... but I do, and I would like to get my Netflix account setup. The problem is that I don't know where I can reset the netflix login to be my login, not "Peter's" (the guy I bought it from).

I've poked around the menu 5 times to no avail, I've registered for My LG Apps to no avail, and I've searched online to no answer.

Is there some easy place to reset or change my Netflix account on the LW5600, or to 'hard reset' the TV to forget all passwords stored inside?

Thanks!

I saw this while poking around the menus.. I haven't tried it, but it looks like where you need to be:

Home

Setup

Network

Smart TV Setting

ID Management

Reset

Netflix Deactivation

You deactivate your other accounts here as well.

Saw a new software update online:

Software_File(Version_05.00.10).zip

Didn't show up when I checked for updates. I downloaded it and applied it via USB. I was hoping they would take the advertisement off the menu screen (ha!) but no such luck, and I didn't notice any immediate changes.

Do you have a link to the update ?
It's on the LG page for the TV support downloads.

I just noticed that Just Scan is greyed out. Why is this happening?

Greyed out? Meaning... :S ?

Netflix now has 3D content for certain devices running on certain ISPs. It is available through Cablevision, but only on the following LG TVs: LM6200, LM6400, LM6600, LM6650, LM6700, LM7600, LS5700, LS5750, PM4700, PM6700, PM6900, PM9700. Any thoughts on whether they will include the LW series in their "more devices coming soon?" I only ask because this forum has been such a great resource for this TV.

Even if I get no help or answers on this, thanks to everyone for all of the other tidbits I've picked up over the last 18 months or so!
