Lcd Tab Bond Repair Tool Question...

Could any of these tab bonds be repaired by using a T-bar tipped soldering iron with a ceramic cover placed over the T-bar? I'm only asking this question because I remember one poster stating that they repaired this with a hot large flat ended screwdriver. If anyone has any ideas about this, please post here. Thank you.

I have no idea what you are trying to repair, but if this is joining two plastic pieces via a hot tool, I recommend epoxy instead. Hot tool make plastic bridle.

Not likely but it is broken, it is hard to make it "more broken". The "adhesive" is anisotropic tape that is applied with heat. There are over 256 contacts per inch on the TAB. You are likely to melt the TAB as well as the adhesive tape if you don't have the right temperature. Once the adhesive tears away from either the TAB or the LCD cell, the "glue" is pretty well useless. You might get lucky with a temporary fix but it probably won't last.

Thanks for the information. I was thinking that I could dial down the temp between 125-150 °F, press it for 15 seconds or so, and go back to enjoying my set in the full 16-9 setting. But a temporary fix is better then no fix at all....
