Can anyone tell me box size for a 60st30?
Does anyone know if Ethernet port on tc-p55st30 is also a passthrough. I'm tying to decide on a blu ray player and am considering Panny 110 (no wireless) and the 210 and don't want to cable the blu ray to my router. Thanks

Just curious what are you trying to do?

Just update the blu ray wirelessly without buying a wirelessplayer. Trying to use the tv wireless capability. If that wouldn't work I'd buy the 210

I had the same problem on my 50ST30 last night, just about the same time as tfoltz. I would press the green Viera Cast button and nothing happened. 45 seconds later I would get "Connection to server failed - 006".

I'm also hard wired to the router. I even plugged the TV directly to the cable modem to eliminate a router issue but still no Viera Cast.

I looked through all the Network Settings menu and saw there was a new update - 2.070. I downloaded the update but the problem with Viera Cast remained.

I just checked it just now and everything (Viera Cast) is working fine.

Just wanted to give a heads up to the people who were asking about the new Panasonic 3D glasses. I read online that they were available in some best buys. There are 2 packages. 1 Package is just 2 glasses for 200 while the other package is 2 glasses and Avatar for 250. I went to best buy on my lunch break and they had the 2 without Avatar package. I went ahead and got them even though I know they will be cheaper online. I've already seen the preorder for JR at 70 per pair so I might return them before 30 days but I wanted to at least try them out. They are really comfortable and I wear glasses so that is a big improvement over last year's glasses. I was surprised at how light they are also. It says to charge them for 30 minutes and you can get 25 hours of use. The only disappointment is they don't come with a case. I've tried them on but I'm at work so I haven't been able to use them yet. I can give more impressions after I fire them up tonight.

Are they the medium size ones?

They are much better than the last ones for me. You can barely feel them and they fit perfect on top of my glasses. I am loving them. Just watched half of avatar and it was sweet. Can't wait for sept 1 to see some 3D college football.

Do these glasses work with any active 3D tv? One site said they did but not sure if it is only for the newer standard. Does anyone have more detail on this? Wondering because these glasses seem to be the best now but wondering if they will also work on LG PX950.

I don't know if these will or not. I found this on Vans.

I saw that too, but on Buy.com it said, "M-3D1 standard for use with any 3D compatible screen" which led me to believe they would work with more than Panasonic. If it does, I think it could be a huge selling point.

Hi, I've been seeing a rather strange behavior with my TV. I have set up a custom picture mode with the D-Nice settings, and set the TV to use this on all inputs (I currently have Roku and a Panasonic DMP-BDT110 Blu-Ray player, both attached via HDMI). As far as I know, it should then retain the picture setting on a per-input basis. However whenever I play a Blu-Ray disc, the TV switches back to 'Cinema' mode, all by itself. This happens at some point during the disc spin up, seemingly when it enters the first main screen. I have been on the phone with Panasonic about this, and they said they hadn't heard anything like this. The lady had me go through a series of changes including turning off the Vierra connect, but nothing worked.

Eventually we did a factory reset, which erased my custom settings. Then, it didn't seem to happen any more - with the default Custom settings, it would no longer switch to Cinema when starting up the Blu-Ray disc. However I have since re-done the D-Nice settings, and now it is back again to the old behavior. I have tested this with the Saving Private Ryan BD, and the first disc in the Firefly complete series BD version. I have also tried this with DVD's, and it doesn't happen - only with BD, seemingly. The Roku input stays on Custom mode. With BD, once the film starts I can set it back to Custom and it will stay there - the reset seems to be an event that happens during the BD initialization, and it's unaffected by switching Vierra connect on or off, either on the TV or player end. I even tried switching off the internet connectivity for the BD player, but this didn't affect the issue.

So what I am wondering is whether other people here have seen this behavior. To me, this seems like a software issue - if it also happens for other people then I can tell Panasonic this. If other people don't see this same behavior, however, then maybe it's some kind of weird hardware problem. I am using the latest firmware, both on the TV and the player. Before I call them again, I'd just like to know if this is something only I am experiencing, or if it's repeatable with other ST30's.

Thanks,

Neil

So i've been watching some small size MKVs (about 1-2 GB) through my external HD on my P55ST30 and things seemed perfect.

I recently just ripped my 11 GB Avatar to my HD and wanted to play it, but it lags like crazy. I tried another file around 7GB and it also lagged. So now I'm guessing big file mkvs will not play smoothly on my tv, or am i doing something wrong?
Anyone experience that?

I picked up a pair of the mediums today and they are infinitely more comfortable than the second gen glasses. They are feather light in comparison and 25 hours from a 30 minute charge is impressive.

so why is the avatar package $250.00 when you can get 2 pairs for $138? does the movie alone cost 112?

1080P content will not play well on the TV's USB.

I never knew that. so is 720p the recommended file?
Or would they play fine through Roku or WDTV but not through the TV's USB?

I'll play just fine through a WDTV, I have one. But the built in player in the tv kind of sucks... it is just good for 720p or lower.

Yep, I really didn't care to much for 3d when I had the second gen glasses. They were very uncomfortable with glasses under them. The new ones you can barely even tell they are on. I've spent alot of time today trying to figure out what 3d movies to order!

The package for just the 2 glasses is 200 at best buy. I just got them because I wanted to try them out. I didn't want to order them online if they were not better than the old ones. I will probably return them since I could order 3 online for about the price I paid for 2.

Does anybody else see this effect, or say that it definitely does NOT happen for them? I've got a call into Panasonic about it, and it would be really useful to be able to tell them if this is just me, or if other people seem to be getting it too...

They will only work with Panasonic. The new standardization is still just an agreement on paper between Panasonic, Sony and Samsung.

Do the ST30's have the fluctuating brightness at all? I thought it was originally only noticed on the GT and/or VT30...but then later I thought I saw reports of it in ST30 reviews etc. I want to make the leap with a 42 or 46" ST30 for my bedroom but I hope I don't get a set with the brightness issue and have to wait for somebody to come fix it.

The WDTV Live and WDTV Live Hub are the best current players for movies in the market. but... I'm waiting for this to be out...

Yes, the ST30s do have fluctuating brightness. However, it appears all TVs manufactured in August onward will be free from the problem. Sets that were manufactured before August can receive an SD Card flash or new A-Board to fix the problem. I just got my new A-Board installed today, and it does indeed make fluctuating brightness disappear.

I was in my local Walmart today and found a solution to the "no case" problem. The store has a plastic pencil box that is almost perfect at 8.5L x 5.75D x 2.5H. It comes with either blue, black or red covers and sells for a grand total of $.97! Here is the blue one that I'm using:
