For nexflick, i don't know, it's not free...

That's exactly what I experienced with my D8000.
I also noticed the flashlight is improved with 1011.

I updated my firmware from 1006 to 11 and it made a noticable differance with the screen uniformity. Before when i had a solid grey background you could see alternating vertical bars of slightly darker grey. Now it has diminished to the point of where it is hardly noticable and screen is close to uniform grey. I also noticed baseball games and hockey games before you could see the effect when panning left or right. Now i can't tell at all. Hope the update works for others as well.

That's great news, I spent hours trying to find an issue and did not. If it is to the point I need special material to see, to me it is no longer an issue.

So this fw addressed non uniformity issues, was it across the 7000/6000 series as well?

No, the non-uniformity is still the same on my set. There was no improvement with the firmware update from 1003 to 1011. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't have a clue as to what they are talking about. All I need to do is turn on a baseball game and it smacks me right in the face. No "special content" required.

bpmurr there is about 5 other people who came onto this board and said the newest update fixed all uniformity issues and they see nothing wrong with this set now. You are one of the few who said it didnt fix it.

Well, non uniformity comes in many flavors. Banding. Flashlighting. Clouding. Etc. While the banding is still there it seems the auto dimming threshold was improved so the brighter edges are reduced in some darker scenes. In fact my fiance thinks it's 80% better while I have yet to quantify it. It is in fact much improved though. That much I am sure of.

i also dont see any issue, but without calibration it is really hard to tell.i didnt see any issue since i bought the tv a month ago.watching yankees game right now on direct tv 631 looks awesome in standard mode with a few adjustments i locked in over a week ago.

we need someone who does calibration to tell us if uniformity is better or not.Just not a regular joe like us.They can get into direct gray screen and check to see how even everything is across the screen

Can someone post a link to the cnet settings? I can`t seem to find one. Thx. Some of CMPMERIDIANs settings say same as cnet settings. So a link`d be really helpful. Thx again.

CMPMERIDIANs are better as CNET settings showed poor uniformity, hence the review about poor uniformity

Hi, Shaitan,

Here's the link to the Samsung UN55D8000 picture settings at cnet.com.

Hope this helps.

Uniformity issues are fixed with the 1011?? Not for this guy - see attached photo after 1011 upgrade.

Have a new set coming Friday - hopefully it will be better. Still not sure I'd return it - but I'd love to see a screen that DIDN'T look like this.

Wow, what do you have your backlight set to? Like 17?

Please do not put a blanket statement "everyone", your set may have banding or uniformity issues that are worse then others. Just like DSE on The elite, you were seeing something that bothered you but to many was not an issue. If we were speaking about your set than you have every right to attack others, please worry about your own set and refrain from insulting others.

This looks pretty bad, I would consider an exchange. What is your brightness set at?

Backlight at 10. As I said, exchange coming Friday. We'll see what kind of improvement I get.

My main point is that there may be some of you who are having better picture quality - but this is the kind of uniformity Katzmaier was talking about.

If mine was ever like this it would have went back the first day.
