Wig, so far I love the tv. The blacks are great and it blows my c7000 away.Will answer any questions about the tv.

so would you say the blacks are better then your c7000 or is it hard to tell?

No voucher for that missing bezel? Pshh I'd feel shortchanged.

Did it show an ETA on line to receive these by any chance? I think I read 8 - 10 weeks but wondering it that will hold true as these must be available now since some people got them in their boxes.

It must be 8 - 10 weeks maybe from when they were printed and put in boxes then shipped to stores?

When someone get's delivery of their glasses and remote from the voucher submission, please let us know how long it actually took.

I hope BB Magnolia has the D series where I live as I cant wait to see how much the PQ differs from my C8000. I will see for myself this weekend and give my input on how good it is compared to my C8000. I have owned mine since July 30.

Can you watch a little TV on standard or smooth auto motion plus and tell me if you see any skipped frames? If it's happening, it will be obvious. You don't have to look hard for it. Thanks!

I still think blacks are much better on Samsung un55b8500 than on any other TV and this is because this the only Samsung TV with backlit dimming technology.

D8000= 25000000:1

These are just numbers in reality our eyes can't tell the difference. The only difference we will notice while watching is the bezel. I am sure if Samsung pack both models with same bezel no one could tell which one is which. I would not be surprised if Samsung eliminates bezel next year all together and invents another fancy stand or perhaps we see oval TVs.

Agreed, Best Buys is now offering the starter kit free with purchase of either set. This means yo will have 4 glasses with the 8000, very cool.

Just picked up my UN55D8000 from a Seattle area best buy(all the stores here get them this week, regional warehouse has them for pickup as well). Quick rundown:

1. YES best buy is giving away the 3d Kit with purchase, and inside the box still has voucher for 2 more glasses. So 4 glasses included essentially. And from what i was told, all they are getting is Qwerty supplied sets, no vouchers thankfully for that.

2. Black levels are blowing me away. My local store had last years C9000 sitting next to the new D8000 and the difference was night and day. They also had a D7000(46incher) sitting next to both and you could tell that there is in fact a pretty major difference in PQ between the new 7000 and 8000 series sets. Enough to warrant the higher price? for me 100% yes.

3. Got it set up a few hours ago and ran through some simple tests and my set has almost zero light bleeding from the edges. And by that i mean barely noticeable when actively looking for it. This thing is just as good as good if not better than the 8500 from a few years back in this regard in my opinion.

4. The screens glare is not all that bad, i have a 100watt ceiling fixture 9 feet in front of the screen and dead center of it and have zero glare unless the screen is turned completely off. I could definitely see it being a problem during the day though if you have your HT is in a room with lots and lots of windows.

5. Put some sci fi on it to see how it did with space scenes and saw pretty much no halos at all around bright objects in the dark deeps of space.

In short, really can't speak highly enough about this set. It's near plasma quality for black levels, has no issues that plagued past edge light LED's that i can see at least. And yeah, overall just a great set, at a nice price for being on the market less than a week.


That said, i am having trouble getting my Qwerty remote to pair with the TV. keep trying the "Sym+Tab" holding, and all it gives me is a "Failure" message after each attempt. Tried reseting the TV(Mute-0-Mute-0) and trying again but no luck there either.. Any other owners of experience this yet? and if so any recommendations?

Oh yeah, will post some pics in this thread tomorrow, and am willing to run any specific tests(within reason) and respond to any questions anyone on the forums may have.

this is my d8000 in complete darkness. Samsungs micro dimming works, it doesn't look like they are going back to full led back-lit or need to .

I am amazed at the black levels of the d8000 also.

Ugh, the TV looks sooooooooooooooo good.

What's with the bluish tint in the lower bottom of the Dark Knight scene? Reflection?

For the second picture, I can't tell if it's black because it's black or if it's due to the camera.

yeh my c8000 looks like this in photos



but in reality it looks nothing like that. nowhere near as pure black as you see in a photo.

i'm still waiting for cnet's review. want to know if theyve done anything about input lag.

Try taking a picture of the tv with a white-light source behind the camera or behind the television perhaps?

I'm no photographer but these are some of my suggestions that I've tried in the past.

light in the room will only improve the blacks on these models. i've already heard bad blacks on one d8000 so i'm skeptical to take photo proof as fact.

yeah. his 2nd photo shows it's black is different from yours. Pls. take a pic with some lights on.

Max, the blacks are nowhere near bad on the d8000, they are great. and blow any samsung tv from last year away.

so you've got no uniformity or flashlighting issues at night? none, at all? just pure, near bezel black color?

wkward or gagit do you guys game at all? If so any noticeable input lag? Also how are the viewing angles so far? On the TV in my room once you get around the outskirts of 70 degrees the colors kind of start washing out. The sweet spot is unfortunately limited to the 30s.

The bezel is silver aluminum silly.

Also your TV looks great tbh. But then again I'm at work viewing this on a cheap monitor so who knows.
