Anyone bought those very inexpensive Samsung 3D glasses for the 2011 D series TV's model #SSG-3050GB/ZA from Best Buy? (SKU: 3551973) Their price is soooo low priced compared to previous glasses. They get very mixed review on BB web site. They don't have any side shield so it looks like light can bleed through. What about using them with eyeglasses?

I've had some people love them but mainly if you have glasses. I don't wear glasses and prefer the more streamlined profile of the ones that came with the TV.

Does anyone have their D8000 mounted with a "slim tilting mount?" If so, would you mind taking a quick photo? What are your thoughts on it?

I have 2010 glasses and 4 pairs of 2011 glasses. Not sure of the model #, I have two rechargeable and two replaceable battery glasses. Overall they are both better then 2010 glasses for comfort, they both reflect glare from behind you. I recommend shutting blinds and curtains or use a hoodie as I have to block glare.

This is what I'm trying to use, but the TV and/or router simply wants nothing to do with this relationship. Or TWC internet is rejecting the connection, which I highly doubt.

I literally have 15-20 other things in the house that connect through this router with ease, and this TV is the one damn thing that won't.

What encryption are you using? I would suggest WPA2 wPSK. Also with that # of devices what is you speed?

Well I must have gotten lucky my new UN65D8000 is not perfect but its close enough.

It has one very slight vertical band that is not visible on anything but a light solid grey screen.

No clouding, flashlighting or other brightness variation so I’m happy.

Panel is a G01.

Hi All, I just received delivery of an UN55D8000 and was wondering if it was possible to watch 3D via the built in YouTube app.

Thanks in advance.

Sort of...It's random 3D clips that you can skip through.(100 +). Just open Youtube and scroll down to featured, you'll see 3D vidz on the right.

I tried a few 3d content yesturday and the pictures were split side by side with no 3D.

Yes, using WPA2PSK (AES). Speed is actually pretty darn good - it's not like all the devices are active all the time.

Things that are connected the most often...
4 laptops (2 personal, 2 work)
DirecTV whole-house system - 3 receivers/3 IP addresses
2 iPhones and 1 iPad
NAS
IP phone (MagicJack)

Might be stupid questions but did you press the 3D button on the remote and choose Side by Side 3D? That's how it works on Youtube. Also, did you have your glasses powered on?

I would try turning off all security and see if that works, also try moving the router orientation / antenna & change broadcast channel 1,6 or 11 , if that doesn't work you could always hard wire, Ethernet over power adapter is an option if running cable would be a problem.

Interesting with the channel numbers. I'm on 2 right now to avoid interference with neighbors' networks. But I'll definitely try that next.

Just picked up a UN55D8000

I'm getting a 1inch back-light bleed at the top of my screen. It's a pretty even/consistent bleed straight across the top. I don't notice it on pitch-black or clear-white video, but usually grey tones. It's not a huge deal breaker but I do notice the bleed, even when I'm not looking for it. Is this normal?

I'd exchange it. This is not the norm at all.

I while back someone had this same issue, they had Samsung tech come look at it. From what I remember Samsung said the TV was operating normally and didn't replace or fix his TV. On occasion ill notice that effect on the bottom of my d8000 but its not too bad on my set.

Ohh no but I assumed it just works like the 3D preview on the hub. All i did was start the video and power up the glasses. I didnt' push the 3D button. I'll try again later... Thanks

Hi All, two more questons. Is it possible to stream MKV files stored on a NAS direcly with this TV? Would this TV play MKV files directly from the USB port?
Not in front of tv, but noticed last night while watching a DVD, I looked at the input settings and my bluray player is using HDMI port 4 but on the input list it showed lower down the list using a anyway+ port or whatever they call it? I am confused ?

Depending on your panel it is the norm... Samsung changed positioning of additional LED sources if I recall and side effect are these border bands. The problem is reduced by calibration, mine had it just as bad but got better after changing settings around.

Try lowering your brightness and backlighting settings. I had this on the bottom of my tv about 1/4 inch and it is now not a issue.

I can stream SD MKV to mine as long as it does not contain AC3 audio. DTS goes through for some reason but the TV will down convert it. HD MKV will stream with AC3 audio. I haven't tried DTS with HD. MP4 will stream with AC3 audio and the TV will NOT down convert. It passes it through Optical just fine. My TV will not stream MP4 with DTS at all. I just encode everything in SD MP4 (h.264) with AC3 (5.1) and Dolby Pro LogicII. That way I get 5.1 to my reciever and my son's Xbox doesn't complain about the AC3 with MP4.

Great thanks, I was able to access the NAS and streamed a movie yesturday. It was pretty sweet. Only issue is it was very laggy due to me being on wifi. I'm hopeful it would be better once I run an ethernet cable to the TV.

Change your filenames from *.mkv to *.avi and they should play fine.

Hey guys,
new owner here of a Sumsung series 8 (UA60D8000).
Wonderful TV great features, but the remote is a little flaky. It doesn't work unless pointed directly at the reciever (even with new batteries).
Is this normal behaviour, and if so, is there a work around? I'd hate to have to resort to buying something like a Logitech harmony.
