I recently bought a D8000 in the 46 inch size and really like the set except for one very annoying issue I have with it. When I am watching cable TV on it, at very random intervals, it will lose the sound for about 2 seconds and the screen will for lack of a better word will glitch. I guess I could say stutter. It is very intermittent when this happens. It doesn't happen when I am watching cable TV on my other sets so I believe it is the Samsung that has the issue. It has the latest firmware loaded on it. Any help is appreciated. Has anyone else experienced this type of behavior?

Connected through a receiver or direct? Cable box or from wall?

Wondering if it could be HDMI handshake issues, or something else with the connections.... An issue like this is more likely signal related.

I have to agree with upstate this sounds like a signal issue. Give a little better description of your set up and do you have cable boxes on the other tvs? How many devices do you have connected to the cable service including tvs with or without boxes, HIgh speed data modems & telephone modems? Also how long has it been since the cable guy has visited your home? I ask because generally connectors and inside wiring are the source of signal impairments.

The setup with the D8000 is the TV/HD-DVR cable box/Samsung 6700 BD. that is it. (bedroom setup). The cable tech came by about two weeks ago and checked out everything from the interphase box outside to the end connections on the units. He had a high tech looking meter thing he plugged in to the system and said the signal was great. I have a Panasonic plasma in the den with a Denon 2112ci, a Panasonic BD and also a HD-DVR cable box and do not have a problem with that setup. I also have the same cable box setup in another bedroom with an older 36 inch tubed Toshiba TV and I am not having the problem with it either. The HDMI cables that I have connecting the components with the Samsung TV are the highly rated ones on Amazon.com. I believe they are called Media bridge or something similar.

I would swap the cable box first, either get a new one from cable co or better yet just swap with den and see if problem is still there. If it was a problem with HDMI or the TV I would think that you would see it across all sources.

I have uverse cable and bluray connected HDMI to tv. I have optical cable connected to tv. I am having issue of intermittent audio drops that last a quick second. It was doing this prior to hooking up the soundbar as well. I didn't check yet if it's happening on bluray too since I don't watch many movies on it. There is an audio setting on the DVR which has option of stereo or surround sound, I tried both with same issue. Within tv settings, there is option of Dolby Digital and something else? Not sure if I tried both settings yet? And my cable box is the brand new model which I got prior to getting this tv. My HDMI cables were bought from Monoprice and are high speed cables,... Any help?

Why do you have optical connected? HDMI does audio having both connected could be causing conflict.

Not really sure, was told I could use either or? How would you suggest I hook this up? I currently have uverse DVR connected to tv HDMI 3 , Bluray connected to tv HDMI 4 and I have Samsung HW-E450 sound bar to tv via optical. I have a Harmony remote so I have ARC shut off and I don't want or need to use it.

I didn't see the soundbar in the other post try using red and white RCA connection and see if that corrects the problem.

any help would be most appreciated!

So I am still not having any luck connecting wirelessly, eventhough a wired connection is successful. I have tried the following:

1) lowering router security to WPA/TPiK
2) lowering router security even further to WEP
3) enabling MAC filtering on my router and manually adding TV's MAC address to the list of allowable devices

When I try to run a network status test, it only allows me to test the wired connection, not wireless. I would think a wireless network test would be possible?

Anyway, I may be running out of ideas here and I will probably just be returning the TV. If anyone has any other tips/ideas, it would be appreciated.

Move your router into room with tv and power it up it doesn't need any active Internet connection the wireless still should broadcast, and see if tv will connect with router that close. Also have you changed the channel the router is broadcasting on? You should use ch. 1,6 or 11 all others overlap.

Hey guys

New owner of a 55D8000. got it from the Canadian retailer Futureshop for a good price (i would say so )

Anyways, I got a H302 panel... should i see if i can get a hold of a 303 panel or should i be happy? I did not notice any panel unevenness when i put a grey picture on right after i took the TV out the box.

I actually had a question for people who might have had a problem like this:

I have a networked storage drive (A seagate goflex 3TB) connected to my router and the TV is connected to the same network wirelessly.

I can see the HD when i go to Smarthub and "Videos" but the movie files present on the drive dont show up.
The movies are in different folders which are then in folders of their own for "Language" etc.

Could that be a reason why? Any way i can make the TV recognize teh files on the drive? Thanks guys

I moved the router 5 inches from the TV. I tried to connect using channels 1,6, and 11...still not luck.

when I search for wireless networks, the TV displays the message that it is searching the wireless environment, but then literally nothing happens after that. The message appears on screen for 10-15 seconds and then just disappears. I do not get summary of available networks. it just goes back to the menu where you select a network connection. Unless I am mistaken, I have no option to manually add an IP address to the router. I only have the option to manually configure a wired connection. I would think, even if no wireless networks were found, that the TV would still give me an option to manually configure the wireless connection or atleast perform a wireless network test, which I am unable to do.

Samsung Support advised me to unplug the TV for 20 minutes and then plug it back in. So maybe that will work. At least Samsung is trying to help me, and isn't blaming the problem on my AT&T router.

Hey guys I just bought the un55d8000 and I'm VERY happy with everything, EXCEPT I noticed a dead pixel in the middle left of the screen and now I'm annoyed. Any of you know the best way to handle this? Anybody else get dead pixels? What is Samsungs warranty on this? Im guessing they wont cover one dead pixel, but come on for what we all paid for this and the fact that this is Samsungs 2011 "top model" why shouldnt they? If they dont, is there any way to "make them" cover it? Lol

Sounds like its going to be the TV, good luck otherwise make then repair or replace.

If you just bought it make the retailer stand behind their product and replace.

Idk how well that'll go. Best buy doesn't stock this model anymore and I got the last one which was a display model. Ill definitely look into it but I was hoping I could get some insight on samsungs policy/process for handling this. I've read don't call go to the website because on the phone they ask how many dead pixels and you need a certain amount for it to be considered defective and on they're website they don't ask. Just wondering if anybody else has gone down this road.

It has to be like 7 pixels in a quarter sized area near the center of the screen and they will replace it. I had 2 side-by-side and even though the GS tech said they would replace the screen, Samsung said it wasn't enough.

And yes, DO NOT return it to the store. They are out of stock of them. You don't want to know the hell I am going through right now with BB concerning my tv that the GS and Samsung tech f'ed up. Know why I initially called, the dead pixels being out. They did something to the pq and it has never been the same.

This is whack. Still today people buy displays with dead pixels and are forced to deal with it. I call it a defect. I think it's laziness on the manufacturers part. If you had bought a kuro or a new elite you just don't get dead pixels right?

Flashlighting FTL! The settings being used in the photos below are from another users post. Im going to keep experimenting. Now I know posting pics of your tv screen is highly unreliable for determining flashlighting, black levels, banding and just about anything else. BUT when i saw this last night I was shocked. I thought to myself.. my 4 year old kdl sony was this bad or maybe better! I know backlight is kinda high but the lower settings I think should balance it all out. What do you guys think?? I am considering going sharp
LC-60le847u now! This is on top of the dead pixel and corner bleed i cant seem to shake.

Ok This is the 2 horizontal lines I'm seeing during vertical panning in movies that is driving me nuts!! It's got to be underneath the screen cause no settings will change this.
I couldn't replicate it so I just used paint to point out where they are on the TV so you guys can give me some feedback if this is the norm & if I will have the the same issue if I exchange for an ES8000. Thanks

BTW...The post above with the media center screen shot seems to duplicate the 2 bars.

*EDIT* Just noticed my drawing is a lil off but you get the gist lol

Seems like this thread is slowing down a lot because the tv is not brand new anymore Lol. I ran avs hd 709 and have noticed a lot of improvement. I would recommend this before using other poster's preferred settings because that may only work for THEM in THEIR lighting and environment. This will give you the best settings you can get aside from a pro coming out to calibrate. I've always known this but had to be reminded the hard way. (by being stubborn and stupid) I have not noticed lines your describing. The images I posted above are very blurry so may not be what your describing. Bottom line, I'd run some sort of calibration disc or download then make a FAIR assessment of your set. You can then decide if you want to call Samsung, exchange, or start the TV shopping madness all over again and return it.

You were absolutely correct. I swapped the cable box out and the problem is gone.

BTW ely, the cable box was only about a month old.

Hi,

I want to know if your D8000 with FW1024 plays MKV videos from SmartHub?
I've tried from USB and network streaming with same negative results. MKV files did play with earlier firmwares and I don't know after which upgrade it stopped playing them (same files)

I have converted some MKV movies to M2TS using tsMuxer (same audio and video, different container) and I'm able to reproduce the converted files.

As instructed by Samsung support I've resetted the TV but it didn't work. On my 2nd call the case was escalated to Level 2 support but I never got a call back. On the 3rd call I was told that they have taken note of the incident and that Samsung will provide a solution on the next firmware release. That is difficult for me to believe as they did no troubleshoot and the tech told me this was not a known issue.

Will you be kind to test your TV and send me your feedback?

My TV: UN46D8000Y firmware 1024.3

I haven't upgraded to 1026.0 as my TV doesn't find any online upgrade available and new FW doesn't bring any fix related to my TV problem.
**1026.0 - VUDU app released in Mexico - MLB.TV apps upgrade (server changing)

I'll appreciate any idea / recommendation.

Thanks and Regards
Marcelo

Just download the file from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/ow...UN46D8000YFXZA

Then extract it on an USB pen and upgrade from there!
