I have heard of this happening on the 2012 ES, but not on the D. None of mine ever did this. You should definitely call Samsung before the warranty expires. Luckily, your still covered.
Good luck and keep us posted!

I bought a Wii for my kids and dont think i ever got the A/V adapter with it? The wii has the red, white, yellow male connectors that plug into back of tv, but this model has one single plug for this comnection. Supposably came with a female adapter to plu into this and then the single plug that plugs into tv. I tried radio shack, Bestbuy and nobody carries it. Any ideas where to find this?

The Wii does not come with any other adapter than the one you mention (2 audio/1 yellow video).
Your TV came with a small (green colored) adapter that looks like a head phone jack at 1 end and multiple female RCA connectors at the other end. Looks like this:
Use this to connect the Wii (match plug colors). As others have mentioned you will get a better picture with the other adapter (composite).

You can also buy this to get around that quirky hookup that Samsung provided with this:

Anyone having trouble with the internet connection on this tv? (I actually have a D7050). Apps are really slow, youtube and browser app aren't opening. Maybe a maintenance?, please help!

No need to panic.. Samsung is doing some serious updating with the smart hub. I checked most of my sets and they are all experiencing the same thing. I know they are working really hard and been for a while now to push a FW update on the ES series. Maybe even this one.
I guess we just have to wait and see.

I am considering getting Netflix Streaming to use with my UN65D8000. Can anyone confirm that the Netflix app on my Samsung TV will allow me to search for Netflix programs and content right on the TV? I don't want to have to use my computer to access Netflix first and then select programs in advance to watch later on the TV. I called Netfix and they were not sure. Apparently Netflix apps on some TV's or BD Players do not allow direct searching.

I have the Samsung UN55D8000, and I was wondering something. I currently have my PS3 setup for viewing only Blu-Rays at this time. I want to go back to playing games as well on my PS3, but I will have to turn on "Game Mode" to play anything because my settings are high for the movies. If I switch it over to "Game Mode" while playing my PS3 will it keep the standard settings I created for watching movies on my PS3 when I switch "Game Mode" off to watch a movie?

I am afraid to do this if I lose my current settings for watching movies.

Thanks for any input.

Well I'll be dipped in **** and rolled in bread crumbs. I have owned ths tv for a little over a year and just found out that this t.v. has a dual band wi-fi card inside of it. I knew it had wi-fi capabilities, never thought to use it as I thought it was only for the wireless N 2.4ghz band. Yesterday when I was playing with the tv to use my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone as a remote for the tv, which is much more responsive than the original remote, I stumbled upon this find and found my 5ghz band showing in the search for wi-fi connections and it hooked up just fine!

The strange thing about that is that both sources are hooked up through my HK AVR 247 receiver and output via one HDMI cable, so I don't think that's the issue. I believe it's still under warranty so I'll contact Samsung unless there's some obvious answer I don't know about.

Thanks everyone!

Well the Samsung tech guys came out last week and replaced the boards, and everything seems to be working fine. I've also noticed the Smarthub menu seems much more responsive than before. Good thing I got the repair in just before my warranty disappeared!

That's great news! Glad it was covered. This is why I highly recommend getting the extended warranty on these Samsung TVs. I'm not saying to spend The $500 that Samsung offers, but when you first buy your TV, you have 60 days to buy one at Costco.com for only $99 for an extra 3 years from a company called "Square Trade"

This issue you just had seems to be a very, very common issue with these and their 2012 TVs. I've just heard of 4 others that have the 2012 ES8000 that had the "turning off and on" issue and needed the same board replaced to fix it. What's interesting is that when one of my D8000 had issues, this is the same board that the tech thought was causing my issue. I asked him why he doesn't think its the power board and he said because its usually this board that goes on Samsung's TVs. So then I said, what do you mean, and he said this is one of the main repairs he does, meaning, usually when he goes out to repair a Samsung TV, its always this board that he replaces. He then said he does like 5 or 6 a day. That didn't make me feel good about all the money i spent these last couple of years on all Samsung TVS, but did make me feel good that I bought the extended warranty for all of them. I wonder if in the next few years when these sets are over 2 years old, if thousands more fail like the capacitors did in their older models. Hmm!

Thanks for posting your update on this, and good luck with your set!

Question for you guys. Sorry if its been asked before, but I dont have time to read 300 pages right now. Should I update my 55d8000, or leave it alone? The only thing that bothers me about this tv is the jitter jutter whatever you call it in certain scenes. Didnt know if any update helped that out any. I like the soap opera effect and cant use it without horrible jutter. I know thats a common issue with these. Basically Im wondering if I should update it or just leave it alone since Im not noticing any real issues over the last year other than the jutter. I updated it when I first bought it little over a year ago and that was it.

bit of a late posting really but been scanning people problems with clouding issues with this tv. I am currently on my 2end display due to clouding issues on my 1st set. I have contacted Samsung about this several times via their official site, via email and phone too. Only for the repair to be cancelled last minute, yesterday i got a call from Samsung telling me that clouding is part of the specification. Also think that personally that repair centre don't want to deal with it hence while Samsung have taken this stance regarding repair. They told me they would refund money if i could get another repair centre to confirm this but i would have to pay out my own pocket in order to do this. I still have 4 months left on my warranty. I spent hours yesterday just messing around with settings it's not really noticable on mainstream tv but it is watching a film on Netflix on a black screen in a dark room and cos i have it in my bedroom and don't sit that far away it is even more noticable. As far as i am aware there doesn't seem to be a remedy for clouding from what i have read on this forum. What is the Service Panel used for? i did know some things in this menu that said failure. If any one could tell me more about this then would be truly grateful for any help any one could give me. My tv is a Ue46d8000.

That doesnt look like the bevel of a 46D8000, might just be the darkness though. Your blacks also look blue, so Im sure your settings or picture are blown out for affect. That said, still looks ugly.

I don't see the blue Samsung logo on the bottom. Is this a Samsung TV? Anyhow regardless of the model, you should NEVER go Into that service menu because its voids the warranty. I know what your talking about though where it says "failed" were it says "calibrated" I can't exactly remember since its been a while since I've seen this, but one time years ago I went into the service menu and the same thing happened to me. I couldn't figure out how to fix that, but I remember reading some where online how to fix this

Do a google search on "calibrate setting in Samsung service menu", or something like "failed" in service menu and maybe something will come up that can tell you what to do. I advise you though to not change anything whatsoever until you can find out how to do this. If you can fix this issue without messing with anything else, you may be ok with the warranty.

Good luck man! I hope you can resolve this because that does look bad

Sorry i've tried so many things to get rid of the clouding even including turning the Samsung logo on and off. I took these pictures on a Panasonic Lumix 10 meg camera so they are of decent quality. Also it's taken within the hub as it loads up You Tube. I'm having a bit of a uphill struggle with Samsung. I mean this is my 2end set and yet like so many on here it's a cracking tv. Like i said any help any one can give me on these forums would be much appreciated.

My set always looks its worst in the smart hub, it has its own settings FYI. Try these?

http://un55d8000.webs.com/index.htm

Turn down the backlight if still bad flashlighting/clouding. Can try to gently massage the screen with microfiber. Otherwise you just have a bad panel and should try to get it swapped for an ES8000 if you are within your year warranty.

I love that advice Mavinwow! Hey, it worked for us anyways biggrin.gif

How are you enjoying liking yours now that you had it for some time? Do you miss this D at all?

Not at all. I had 3 of the 55D8000 before I got upgraded to the ES8000 because they could not get them anymore. First set had weird screen ripples, second had bad backlight bleed and banding, final had a huge scratch in the bezel. I was never blown away with the PQ on the D8000, and it never has made me smile the way the ES8000 has. My only issue is that on widescreen content I notice the black bars slightly, and if I had cinema black it would be the perfect set. Frustrating that it skipped a generation.

I hear ya.. As far as the black bars, try using standard mode and disable the Eco sensor and enable the "Motion Lighting" this has made mine and others on the other thread completely black as if there is Cinema Black now.

Motion lighting seems to dull the picture too much for my liking.

You have to really play around with the settings if you use it. It doesn't work well with Eco sensor. Eco sensor is just a setting that lowers the amount of electricity being drawn. I had to jack up my backlight and brightness and contrast in order to benefit from the motion lighting. I have a very bright, vibrant and vivid picture now with my own settings on standard mode with insane inky black levels. And this is on all three of my ES8000 TVs
