Anybody tried streaming .m2ts files?
Try serviio as your dlna streamer. Sounds like your trying to run samba.
I returned the Sony BD-S580 I had because the User Interface was so annoying and convoluted, yet was without pretty basic features I wanted.
When I would turn it on, it gave all kinds of useless status reports as it displayed stuff like checking the internet connectivity, and wanted me to dismiss a dialog box after it checked. It should do this kind of stuff in the background without any involvement from me unless something goes wrong.
For Amazon Streaming Videos, it puts up a screen full of small images of the DVD cover, too small to read even on my 42" HDTV. I would have to actually select one of them in order to read so much as the title, then select it again to read the details, then RETURN to get back to the selection screen.
Then if I selected one to watch it would go into a routine of determining the bandwidth and making me wait while it did so. Again, this kind of stuff should go on in the background, while I am browsing. Don't put on this big show of checking the bandwidth with all the graphics and stuff, just check it behind the scenes while I am struggling with the inane menu system and only let me know if there is a PROBLEM.
If I was watching a video and put it on pause, it would time out and turn itself off. When I powered it back on, I would have to search for what I was watching and go through the whole thing again.
The selection screen always put up the same movies, whether I had already watched them or not. If I have watched "Elizabeth", don't leave it up there as the #1 choice on the menu forever, at least give me some way to mark movies as seen or not interested or something.
I eventually just found the thing too annoying to use, so I sent it back.
