I suppose that I am not very picky...because it seems fine to me.

Purchased one today for the master bedroom, so I have limited experience with it, but I like the touchscreen...and the remote pairs very well with our Samsung TV.

WiFi was good enough for the firmware upgrade over my WPA network...with the AP located fairly far away and on a different floor for our house.. Haven't tried much else, but my wife and I both have tablets, so we wouldn't be tempted to use it much for surfing...and we love our Roku, so we'll primarily just be using it for DVDs and BluRays...and the movie that we watched tonight looked great.

Also got a great deal on it...but I guess that I am not allowed to discuss that here.

Gotta say...I am loving my D5700. Streaming wirelessly from my computer works great, as well as BD pq very high. I also like all the picture settings this thing has. I had to return the first unit because it was defective, but this one has performed flawlessly.

I will need to play BR disc movies on occasion, but my primary use would be to play mkv files that are stored on BR discs. I would like to be able to use DD, DTS, DTS-Lossless, and show subtitles on these mkv files, which play fine on my MacMini i7. These mkv files are 1080p. Anyone try this?

Just turned on my player and received a notice for an update to v16...I can't find any info on this via the Samsung Canada website. Anyone in the U.S. have any info on the latest FW update?

I have this blu ray player attached to Samsung HW C560s home theater, a while ago I used to see dts in the status window of home theater, but since last two days I am only seeing dolby digital, I have tried to go over the settings in audio section of this blu ray player, but nothing seems to help me, can anyone please let me know how to get the dts encoding back??

My player keeps asking me to upgrade from v15 to this v16. Here's what I found at:

I turned it on last night and was presented again with the
Update Now / Update Later / Never Update
dialog. I poked "Update Now", and it immediately came up with another
dialog that said
"Update Installed. Rebooting in 3 seconds" or something

It rebooted and I brought up the software version and it said it was version 16. I played the DVD that was already in there and it worked fine, as before. I didn't try playing a Blu-Ray. I ran Netflix on it (same interface as before), and it worked fine, as before.

So, overall, I couldn't tell it did anything, good or bad.

I installed v1019, and it worked for Netflix and playing a DVD. I haven't tried a Blu-ray yet.

I updated to the new version. I tried a Blu-ray and Netflix both played very good.

Hello I am trying to use both rear outputs to connect to 2 TV's simaltaneously, Is there a way to make them both active at the same time. Seems that the HDMI connects primarily. And when that disconnects then the RCA red/white/yellow work. Is there a way to change this in the settings so they both output together?

I tried this with my Sony Bluray player and when I thought about it I realized that the player would most likely only upscale but not downscale. If you play a DVD you may find the output on both but bluray probably won't work.

On another note I've found no way to activate two TV's when using HDMI simultaneously. HDMI is a two-way interface and in my system I can play a movie on multiple TV's connected by HDMI from my theater system but only one TV at a time. I have to choose which one from settings. HDMI is just not user friendly.

My 5700 will not load the movie "The Help". Customer support is useless so far. Anyone fixed simular problem?

I just purchased a 5700 at Best Buy. I set it up using a HDMI cable to my 52" Samsung and using my home wireless router. When playing a Blu-ray or DVD, the picture is perfect. When the 5700 switches to Internet and I access Netflix, there is the smallest amount of video "noise" in the form of random white speckles on the screen. It is very low level, and I'm sure most people would not notice it, but unfortunately, I do. When you switch back to play a Blu-ray or DVD disk, you can see immediately when the wireless portion is disabled, and the screen becomes intense black without interference. It is as though the video level when the internal WiFi receiver is on, is lower, or it is producing interference.

I don't know if my unit has a specific interference problem or this is common to the model. Does anyone else notice this? As I said, it is a very low level interference, but you can see the white speckles when you focus on the entire screen at low light levels.

Any thoughts??

I have a BD-D5700 just 2 weeks old from Amazon w/ firmware update ver. 1019.0. It played The Help and also Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. I have not added update ver. 1020.5 but will this weekend

Just FYI...

I bought a Samsung BD-D5700 blu-ray player on boxing day but couldn't get it connect to my Sony TV through HDMI.

The TV shows "No Signal..." message. I managed to initial set it up through A/V connections, but I have to connect through HDMI for everything else!

I am sure the TV and HDMI cable are working fine as I tried to connect to other HDMI devices, which are working fine.

So I guess it's either a defective unit or Samsung blu-ray players (or at least this model) is not 100% compatible with Sony TVs.

I am returning it today and maybe getting a Sony S580 or Panasonic 210.

I just bought this unit at BB and have a question I am sure will get a giggle or two. I have connected the unit to my wireless router and I am wondering if the internet connection will always be on when the unit is operating. The reason I am asking is that I am on limited bandwidth and do not need to be connected when just watching a disc. I have checked the manual and Samsung website but cannot find the answer to this question.

Anyone have problems playing Cowboys and Aliens?

I just bought the unit and have only tried to play two movies. The first was the Devils Double and it gave me grief but finally played. The second was Cowboys and Aliens and I never did get it to play.

Latest firmware, Samsung tech support chat was no help. Reset the unit, etc. When I put the bluray in the time meter says zeros and the screen is black.

I'll probably just return it to Best Buy tomorrow if nobody has an answer.

I tried the movie Warrior also and it didn't work either so yesterday I returned my 5700 to Best Buy for another 5700 and my problems seem to be fixed.

Same trouble, even after software update. Played twice, then not again, won't get past the trailers. An older gen Samsung will play without problems.

Mine was the same way. I had done the update, chatted with Samsung tech support and then put the movies into an older LG BD550 and they played without issue.

I guess I shouldn't say getting a new one solved the problem since I never tried those same movies again with my new 5700 since I watched them already on my LG and returned them. The 5700 was a brand new BD player and all three movies I tried failed. The replacement 5700 has played any BD movie I tried since so I ASSUME that the old 5700 was the problem. I know you should never assume...

cme4brain is your 5700 new and never worked or has it worked on other movies in the past?

Anyone used the SmartHub much, namely the video widgets you may find there? My family has this player and there's a bit of an odd issue with internet video playback, it tends to buffer/pause a lot at times. They have 5meg dsl so that should be sufficient and a lot of the times is, but other times it just skips/buffers every 10 seconds or so. Internet's connected via wire so it's not wireless interference or anything like that.

I bought a D5700 a few days ago. I discovered something regarding the sound and video that may help some. I have an older TV that has everything but HDMI. So DVI, component, S-Video, Composite and coaxial. Using the Composite was so horrible - worse than using a VCR. So I bought an HDMI to DVI adaptor cable with a built-in 3.5 audio cable. The fellow at the store thought that the sound would transfer from the HDMI wire to the 3.5 but that is just for when you need to connect a video card and sound card in a PC to a TV. The video was perfect btw - just no sound. So I returned that cable and got a normal HDMI to DVI cable and the picture was again perfect - for 1/2 the price.

The amazing part is that while I get perfect 720p (the max my TV can manage) I can also conect a left & right audio cable composite cables from the player to the TV or receiver and the sound is perfect (for being simple stereo)

So while it's difficult to find a bluray player that still has HD component output as opposed to analogue component 480i output (or none at all), this work-around has breathed new life into my 720p using DVI TV.

I have a samsung bd-d5700 blu ray player. It streams online content from netflix, pandora and others. Netflix had worked but now it streams the movies fine but it does not show any of the images so you have no idea what is options you have until you actually highlight the box. this forces me to use my iphone to browse content, add to my instant playlist and then select my choice. Does anyone else have this issue? It is hard wired not using wifi so bandwidth is not the issue. movies stream just fine once I can find what we want to watch. any suggestions?

Anyone else having audio/video sync issues? It is only noticeable with DVDs. BDs seem to be fine.

I have the BD and DVR connected via HDMI cables to the Samsung TV, and both units connected to my older Sony receiver via Optical cables. The DVR is fine, and both the BD and TV settings on the receiver are identical. I even reset my receiver to double check.

Have you downloaded the latest software?

I have done a media hub reset. i have reset the player back to factory setting which then updated all software. still only have grey rectangles. they gave me a phone number for their Tier-2 team for advanced troubleshooting. I have not had a chance to call them yet.

I have tried wired, wireless and two different networks. still nothing.

What is your ISP speed. I was 6Mbps and it was a bit slow to fill in but eventually did. Then I very recently switched to 12Mbps and it actually made a difference. Just a thought. Otherwise good luck with T2.

If I had read these "reviews" before buying the player I wouldn't have even looked at it. I think the maxim "the people who post the most are the ones who have problems" is true in this case as the player I have is great.
I don't use streaming online but stream from my computer or a 2TB HDD with no problems whatsoever. I got it for a great price so I couldn't be happier. If it lasts through the warranty period it will have served it's purpose (got an extra three months just for registering the player).
Before spending more money on higher end gear, I'd like the streaming services themselves to get better/more reliable. I think people are looking for perfection in a format that is not yet perfected unless you pay a lot more money. Even then there are often glitches; just read some of the higher end/cost BD player threads.

PS I just use the router that I've had from my DSL internet provider for four years to stream from my computer

I just picked this player up about a week ago. Was working great the 2 or 3 times I've used it. But now on the Smart hub there are two large black rectangles on the screen and you cannot view the content. The strangest thing happened just before this issue started happening. It was as if I had set the player to 3D mode and I was getting a left and right picture on a youtube video. I don't even think this player supports a 3D mode and of course the TV doesn't. I'm not sure what I pressed, if anything, to cause that. This player is being used on a smaller 32" samsung television (bedroom TV) over HDMI. The television is only about 2 years old. It's still playing blu ray movies fine but the smart hub is basically useless.

I've already thrown the box out and I probably don't have the receipt anymore either. I purchased at a local best buy (something I rarely do) but I think since I used my rewards zone card they at least have an easy way to identify that, yes, I did purchase this just a week ago.

Before I take it back though, has anyone experienced this issue? Is there a resolution? It's been updated to the latest firmware. I've also tried doing a factory reset.
