The mini screenshots are killing me

start -> run -> snipping tool.

Click the pull down on the right side of new, choose window snip. Click window snip. Then you can just grab the window you want. Go to imgur.com and upload it, post and be merry.

everything painful I do brings a new lesson... I am little grasshopper!

Also, with the THD window, you should make the limit lower so you can see what else is going on, something like 70db bottom end. How far is the mic from your speakers btw? good numbers. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to fight such a large room, but then I remember the large room lets me have a large screen and lots of speakers

The mic is about 7'3" from the TV and about 7'8" from the center of each tower... thats why I like having them so big, in fact how is this for WAF: I was getting desperate to cover shipping for the new subs and I tried to talk her into selling the IB3s and cutting the towers down! One of the reasons she said no was the bed would have to go too then, with everything taking up the entire room but doing it in a certain manner... it all fits, part of the experience

I am not finding snipping tool, via search, run, or in accessories, I googled it and it says I should have it (I have Vista) but I do not
post #368 of 464
look under accessories, or try running %windir%\\system32\\SnippingTool.exe

What are you using for screenshots now? Just don't shrink them so much, and crop the important areas
post #371 of 464

print screen, paste in paint, cut the important part, repaste

I could zoom in, but it would get all nasty
post #372 of 464
print screen and paste shouldn't shrink the image. Are you shrinking them in photobucket?

thats a great poss, I'll set photobucket higher!

Looking better each time I pop my head in here. Good stuff!

Don't forget to list the odd order distortion.

how do I do that?

IDK what else to test either. now what?
Oh... I have no idea. At this point, you know REW better than I do. You had a list a few posts up that had all the even order distortion. You'd want to see it all. Even and odd. It's well documented that the 'odd' order stuff is the bad sounding distortion.

You got plenty more to test. Many configurations for your HT. I can't list everything...lol. Plus, there are other 'environments' to test as well.

What resolution is your desktop? If you are not shrinking them, maybe you are only running at 800x600? lol

Also, stop with the subs stuff, you need to build some new speakers.

My photobucket upload was set to 1024x768 (recommended), I tried Upload Best possible quality (while staying 1mb or less), then tried 2048x1536. REW sig gen only goes to 10Hz? I used NCH and did 5Hz but got weird results. No black spike, and the top says 15Hz -36.6dB FS, the circled window said 94.5dB. THD was just below 10%. My screen resolution is 1440X900, my monitor's max. Sure I wouldn't mind adding some tweeters to brighten up my sweet 14kHz on up, but I am more than happy with what I have for the mains.

Upload Best possible quality (while staying 1mb or less)

2048x1536

perhaps rew rta only goes down to 10hz.

Also, you need to crop your images

Instead of photobucket, checkout imgur.com. It lets you upload stuff and if you check the edit box, you can crop the images as well.

alright Ill download then Im gonna redo 5Hz and try 6 Hz

BTW, my pics are gonna die in a bit anyway, just got my photobucket bandwidth exceeds notification

7hz is obviously way below your tuning point

use http://www.imgur.com it's free and there are no limits. Don't even need an account.

my window rattles in the track like mad, and everything else in the house, so IDK how much of this is feedback crap

Stop cropping in paint. Upload to imgur, click the edit box, then when the screen comes up, you can drag a box around the selection you want, and click crop. It's not hard
post #386 of 464
Why don't you just click the little camera in the upper left of the REW windows and save the files as a jpeg? It is a lot easier than doing screen shots.
It doesn't work that well for RTA. It doesn't seem to include the THD stats window.

Steps to quickly improve image quality with screenshots (the way you are currently working with mspaint.)

Hold down ALT and press the PrintScreen button
Howld down the windows key and type the letter R
The first time, type in mspaint (after that you can press enter)
Paste (ctrl+v)
right click anywhere on the pasted image and select crop, or press Ctrl+Shift+X
Save (ctrl+s)
type in the name of the file (ie screenshot1)
Press enter
close mspaint (Alt+F4)

(Using nothing but keystrokes, you can simply this entire method.)

alt+printscreen
Winkey+R
enter
ctrl+v
ctrl+shift+X
ctrl+s
screenshot1
enter
alt+F4

And there you go!

(Please do not press Alt+F4 while using any other application you would like to keep working with, the command it sends is "Close" and it will close whatever window or application you are working on without prompting you to save anything.)
Sorry, been at work all day, I had to make sure to make sure I was clear about that command.

Enjoy.

Kripto,
Looking good. It shows how a ported sub can extend 3-4hz below it's tuning in room with little distortion(under the 10% number). Of course you have 4 18's in a small room that helps a little.

Ah, there it is! Thanks MK!
