I'm trying to narrow down choices between the Marantz, Denon and the Oppo, all at 999.99 but the powercord choice has put the Oppo ahead. I can't understand there choice on this one. Unless the pictures are of a lesser model, surley they Know Audiophiles love aftermarket powercables

are you referring to 2-prong type AC adapter? Yes this is interesting. Is the Denon DBP-2012UDCI the same as well?

Edit: looks like the Denon uses the same AC adapter type as well

Looking more like a deal killer, and with such a nice feature list to boot. Trying to replace my Pioneer 51fd and Denon dvd 5900( both of which I love) with a one box solution. The thought does linger in the back of my mind to do a nice Dac and a Cambridge 650 just to keep things flexable

funny, I'm contemplating replacing my Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD and Denon DVD-3930CI (both of which I love) with a "two-box" solution - a high-end dedicated CD/SACD player and a good universal player for everything else (CD, SACD, DVD-A, HDCD, BD, BD-A, SD-DVD, FLAC, streaming, Network capable, etc.,..).

I'm getting tired of the Denon's random hiccups (random freezing with CD titles) although I praise it's sound quality. The Elite BDP-05FD has been a wonderful player actually, beautiful picture and sound quality, and very reliable, I will save it to use in a second system.

So I just pulled the trigger on a new Sony SCD-XA5400ES:

I've read this Sony player is outstanding with CD and SACD sources.

Now I'm contemplating between the Marantz UD7006 and Oppo BDP-95. at this point I'm more concerned about overall quality, how they will perform over time. Of course I want the best sounding player as well. Seems the Oppo BDP-95 may be better designed in this area (ie. analog audio).

Is the Nuforce even in the race on this one, As one who is new to the Oppo game and looking down the road to replacing my Anthem preamp for the hdmi route ,I may just try the 93 first for 30 days to get a feel for the players sound and do a Nuforce upgrade later with a Hifi fuse swap, which has been a Game changer for the rest of my gear, If the noise level is as low as they claim on the 93 should be intresting to say the least. The fan on the 95 means two things in my book dust and noise, my listening room is treated and dead quite and the fan noise could ruin an intamate moment with my music man I really hate and love upgrades!

Congrats, me to on the Oppo 95 and yes its literally a fuse, after my last upgrade of power conditioner and new power cables which yielded such a postive increase in sound and picture qualty across the board, as a finnal and inexpensive tweek I look into the HiFI Tunning fuses, they have three models now all silver plated with gold, all silver and the new Supreme. Before installing them I cleaned the stock main line fuse on my A21 with Caig progold and jaw hit the floor. the following week I put a HT silverstar in the A21 and week later the Anthem prepro recieved a SS and one Gold fuse, Now I will always change stock fuses in my gear, there was so much more there the stock fuse holds back.

wow, this is very interesting. Thanks for the info. I will check these out.

I also want to experiment with hi-end power cables. I'm using a Furman Elite-15PFi conditioner, seems pretty good. But wonder how other's would sound (PS Audio, etc.,...)?

When deciding on a new conditioner to replace a Monster 2600, the Furman was at the top of my list as it had good praise, but decided to go with the PS Audio Quintet for video and source and everything else, but the A21, for it I wanted protection but as minimal current limiting as possible. I read a nice review of someone with JC1 mono blocks on seperate lines and the Soloist Premier in wall conditioner on each amp. I gave it a try and got more dynamics sweeter highs and dead silence, However the Powercable I started with was the AC10 which was great until 2 months ago i put the AC12 on the amp and moved the AC10 to the Quintet. Lets just say the Perfectwave cables are very balanced i.e full and detailed they don't seem to favor any frequency. These traits are in the whole series and each stepup is truly a step up in performance and are worth there salt. Great thing about the Soloist is that you an dove tail your existing conditioner off it for even better performance. (the review can be found on the PS Audio web site). By the way which powercord do you use on the Furman?

Good for you on the Sony 5400ES, outstanding player value if I say so myself. I'm also now contemplating the same two universals to play my other discs, but Oppo's inability to ''get it right the 1st time'' is making me cold.

Yes, I agree the Oppo is more superior because of two essential factors:
(1) Oppo BDP-95 has a better DAC, namely, the 32-bit ES9018. It is advertized as more superior to the UD7006's 32-bit PCM1795. (PDF files containing technical details of the two DAC's can be obtained from Google Search.)

(2) While the Marantz UD7006 has only one HDMI output, the Oppo BDP-95 has TWO HDMI outputs: one can be connected directly to the TV monitor from the Oppo BDP-95 for video (Shorter path is best and the other HDMI, to your receiver for digital audio. This offers greater separation between the video and the digital audio signals to enhance resolutions of both.

Can anyone think or experience other features that the BDP-95 is better than the UD7006?

What about features that the UD7006 is better than the BDP-95?

got it today so didnt test it very well yet.

played scott pilgrim vs the world. Not really a good test movie but my first impression is very good! The sound was awsome. Never heard the hd audio formats...

The player feels a bit plastic. Its only like 7 kg. And i think the power is so tiny. My own powercord doesnt fit unfortunately.. Loading times are much faster then my old pioneer. This weekend i will test more.

read a few post's from the Denon DBP-2012UDCI thread, the sister product of the UD7006, that it has plastic front panel design as well. A few owners were not happy with this.

I did'nt really notice that both these players did'nt use a traditional 3-prong grounded power-cord until much later, this made me question purchasing it.

How is 2ch sound playing CD music?

OK finally got one of these after a seemingly delayed release. Quite happy with the picture and sound quality (running it through a Marantz 7005 to an Elite Kuro) , but just hit my first issue of the thing freezing up if I hook it to the internet... annoying since I got it to be able to run netflix also .

Suggestions or anyone else with this problem?

hmmm, that's too bad.

Is it freezing at the moment while data is streaming? Or is it just randomnly stopping once it's hooked-up to internet (with no activity)?

Have you played any CD's through it?

It freezes as soon as you plug in the cat 5 cable, It lights 'net' on the front panel showing it is getting network activity and then freezes until you power cycle it. wash rinse repeat.... will unplug the network and try some CD's/sacd's

Does an awesome job with the SACD's I tried (mostly classical, quite a few nice linn recordings)

Tried 1 pop/country CD and it sounded a bit flat, but I think that was the recording (early Sister Hazel recording)

Put in a decently recorded jazz CD and it opened up a bit and sounded great.

So as far as music through the HDMI I am pretty pleased. Was previously running a Denon4806 with an a pre-blue ray universal disk player through denon connect and that probably sounded a bit better, but hard for me to compare because was set up in a completely different house with a much better listening environment. Current room has way too many reflective surfaces and I don't have ideal speaker placement here, which I am sure is making a huge difference. Overall pretty pleased (ex. the network connection glitch mentioned above)

interesting, thanks for your input. After you get more hours on it you may see some improvement via-analog OUT's (like 80 hours-plus)

Just awsome!

Got the player for a week now. I was a bit disappointed about the build quality. It feels so light and its a bit plastic and the powercord is so tiny like my alarm clock or so...

But when you turn it on it surprised me it loaded so fast. My old pioneer loaded avater in like 5 minutes (latest update) this one did it in about 20 sec. The video is just good. Dont see any difference in my old and this player... Its just your tv that makes the difference i think.

The sound is very good. Its lively and can give a good bang when it needs to do.

I played some cd's but i dont have a big variety of music. It is just good like i expected.

I dont have super audio cd and im not interested in the 3d and internet features.

It runs with B&W802d, classe ca5200, ssp800

Im almost sure i will get this player. Except for the build i didnt find any things i really didnt like.
