I agree that they shouldn't make an Xbox tablet.
But the thing holding back the Surface RT is that it runs Windows RT and isn't compatible with your old Windows software. And the apps marketplace for Windows RT isn't big enough yet. But Surface Pro with Windows 8 is a nobrainer. Being able to carry around Photoshop and other Windows software is very tempting. But Surface Pro doesn't come out until January.
But even then, I think there are plenty of great contenders. I played with a bunch of Windows 8 laptops over Black Friday. The Samsung ATIV is mighty sexy. Comes in both Atom and i5 models. A great form when used as a tablet (undocked from the keyboard/trackpad). A great form when docked with the keyboard and good trackpad. Heck, you can use it exactly like a notebook as it folds like one and has all the ports. A lot of interesting models coming out. The sliding touchscreen on the Sony machines was very cool (though the machine was like a brick due to the metal body).
I'm hearing a lot of people are also waiting for the Lenovo Carbon Touch. That thing has a carbon fiber body. So even though it carries a huge touch screen, its weight is tiny. Then again, it's a touchscreen laptop with no tablet option.
