Microsoft fires the first shot in the "NEXT" generation.... - Page 158

I have a feeling a lot of the stuff Sony talked about will be wrapped into PS+. And unfortunately the best deals they offer is 3 months extra with 12 purchased only a few times a year. Still, yes, bare bones play will probably still be free.

As long as basic online play is free, I'm happy. Don't care about all the social stuff.

The video sharing and all the stuff about watching, taking over another's game. All that stuff would have to be PS+.

Looks like all the Durango leaks were spot on...

Insane. It's like HL2 hack X10000.

And another brilliant, but misguided person committing a victimless crime will go to jail, while the people who almost caused a world economic collapse enjoy their multimillion dollar golden parachutes. Ain't that the stink of life?

Just because you picked a lock to walk into someones house and read all their personal documents doesn't mean you should be doing it, and sharing it with others. Maybe you didn't take anything, or do damage, but still should not be doing it.

I don't see how MS walks away from the cash cow that is XB Live. People have already shown they will pay it, many times over.

Exactly. They'll keep a 'Gold' level. They'd be stupid not to.
It will be interesting to see what they do with Gold depending on what Sony's plans are for their online.

No thanks.

On-line world is filled with enough people who cares little about decency and pleasant experience. Without the threat of taking away their paid-for service, there would be even less reasons for people to behave on-line. I am more than happy to pay just to keep the riffraffs away.

I have ran into idiots on both consoles. The big difference is now I hardly have to listen to it on Xbox, since I usually have a big group of friends in a party chat when we are running something. In fact, if the PS4 includes headsets and more people actually start to talk online, you will hear all the usual crap on that service too.

In my totally unscientific study I've found XBL to trend younger, and thus typically less mature. Still, riffraft is a problem anytime you log online, regardless of service.

Only solution is to find a group of likeminded adults and bypass it. Beer clans that game causually are a godsend.
well, if you have a good group of friends, you never have to hear the immature kids. open up a party chat and just hear your friends. that's what most xbox people do. avoids all the talk with weird strangers. you don't hear them. they don't hear you. it's super easy to jump from party to party. and you still have the option for private chat as well.

Instead of starting a whole new thread, and since it will most likely be a next gen game, I just put this here.

Respawn Entertainment has confirmed they will be at E3 this year. I am definitely looking forward to seeing their new game.

I do all the time. It's fine.

The PS4 will likely have a party system since the Vita already does.

Hopefully they got a all new engine. COD's been running on id Tech 3 forever, and it shows.

I have no idea why so many on here seem to have a problem finding people on either system to play with. I have averaged the same friends and family since the beta in 2001 for the Xbox. We all play with and against each other. With all the standard features and options to play and not hear any strangers on the other team in games I don't see how this is still an issue for people after all these years. People need to actually look up the features available instead of complaining when the solutions are available.

let me ask this, many have speculated that the 720 won't play used disks (see http://www.gamespot.com/news/xbox-720-could-block-used-software-says-eidos-president-6404465?) by placing a watermark on discs that are verified by always-on internet connection. Since Sony stated they won't stop used games, isn't there going to be major pushback against MS if they stop used games?

I mean the economy hasn't recovered for most normal people, and a lot of people rely on gamefly or gamestop to play used games, but this would be eliminated by MS. Wouldn't this result in a lot of people going with the PS4 instead of the 720?

Or it could result in just 10 people in the US to get a Wii U or PS4. I don't see the point of worrying on something that is speculation. Not everyone buys their games used and no one here has statistics on what the impact would be. I say wait until we actually here from MS. MS was supposed to be dead now because they charge for online rolleyes.gif compared to the old and new competition and it is still the number one console sold in the US for over a year now.

Great theory. Too bad it didn't work that way.

I guess I just missed this post the first time, but if you are trying to say that people behave better on XBL compared to PSN, then you are sadly mistaken.
People behave the same on PC, 360 and PS3. But I do have an easier time avoiding those people on the 360 with the available options and my friends list.

As well as forums!! biggrin.gif

anytime you mix anonymity and no accountability the idiots always come out.

I love the muting capability of Xbox. As I don't have a playstation 3 are the systems dealing with online similar? We rock 4 360's at my house where 2 of them are used by my kids (10 and 12). I have pretty good control over who my kids friend and talk to. PS3 similar?

Nah, its much less developed on PS3 since there's no party or cross game chat. PS4 should solve that though.

actually, it hasn't been stated. Sony has been purposely vague on used games. numerous reporters pressed on their statements and it turns out it's as nebulous as before. I bet they're waiting to see what Microsoft does before they declare their intentions.

Sony also stated that you don't need a internet connection for PS4 to play. That pretty much means theres no way for them to force disc checks. Pair it with their statments on used games and it is as they said.

Maybe they leave it up to the devs to require disc checks and a interent connection to register and play... but I doubt many would, especially small publishers. Plus then the heats not on Sony, but publishers.
doesn't change the fact that it's yet to be determined whether the PS4 is anti-used games. not until the statements are cleared up.
