New Mach 5 Audio IXL info - Page 22

Still working on the LLE I think. Mark also said the IXL's are total change over. Coil made here, bigger motor, steel basket instead of aluminum. Thats good news for anyone not interested in the UXL. the old IXL was great for their price but these should be even better!

N8DOGG, I know you've frequented mach 5 probably more than anyone else. You ever get chance to hear both the uxl 18 and the ftw 21 in the same setting? If so any noticeable differences you could discern?

No, I haven't heard both at once. I wish I have but not yet anyways.

What amp should I pair with my a single ftw-21? I was looking at the LG fp14k or 9k but looking at all my options. I do want the capability to drive a second ftw-21 if I feel the need. Currently have two 15a @ 120v but am planning on switching them to 30/40a shortly (no +220v), atleast I think they are free.

Either clone will work awesome. An ep4000 each will also do quite well!

Will I run into any kind of power issue with 120v and 15amp with the clone? Like needing to change to 30amp?

I'd run a 20amp line at least if possible.

Trying this again. Perhaps it is too difficult to measure the center-to center of the bolts with the surround in the way. How about the center of a mounting hole to the outer edge of the flange?

Anyone know what size bolt will fit in the mounting holes?

1) Center-to-center spacing of the mounting holes (precise, if possible)
2) Depth of flange for flush mounting?
3) Mounting hole diameter - curious to know what size bolt would fit.

Thank you.

Sounds like that will make them more expensive though. We will see. The original IXL's were high output sub-bass affordability for sure!

Still waiting on the official announcement of the LLE. The teaser picture looks like a rather large top plate. I wonder if underhung? *strokes chin*

Anyone have any idea when the IXL 18.2.2 will be back for sale?

Alright so, some new info. the FTW 21's are almost gone, not to0 many left. I grabbed another 2 (of course) and the supply is very limited. I don't think Mark will be getting anymore parts to build more. This is it, get them while you still can.

Mark said this tonight about the new LLE 18 subs " I ended up working with Deon Bearden on the LLE-18. He sent me in a different direction that I am confident will improve the design." So Mark seems confident that they will be even better and that was very good. Didn't hear anything more about the IXL's though. i'd imagine he's waiting for parts.

So thats it, once the 21's are gone, they are gone for good (as far as I know). Someone better snatch up the last few and enjoy!

Well, If this is true I better get my driver exchanged before he runs out! I've had a bad driver since he shipped them to me but havent wanted to take it out of the enclosure that its shared with 3 other drivers. Just sent him an email about this.

LLE18.........Is that supposed to be better than a UXL or is this a sub all on its own?

Boy did I pull the trigger on-time then for the FTW21's.
Can't wait to say I did a good choice.

Well, that will be 6 x 21's but the extra 2 are just going to be spares until I move, Though I've been a bad boy and bought 4 - XXX's as well lol. I just did a quick free air test on the XXX's and they went to heated storage (too good of a deal to pass up). Got a line on 8 Crest ca18's for 1K each from a guy I did an audyssey pro install for. He says he bought 4 paradigm sub 2's and his DIY stuff is going out and a whole new system is going in. He's going high end 2 channel he said. It would be aweoms if he sells them to me but if not, I'll just buy some more clones and hope for the best lol

It's a low inductance model. A different design than the UXL. I can't say which is better only that I saw the cone and the huge ass motor (It's a freaking beast) but at that time, I'm not sure if he had a prototype built or not.

Well to be fair, I got the XXX's for $430 each as I did some paint work for the owner of the company we deal with at work's Caddy CTS-V. I did the work for free and he gave me the drivers at his cost. It's a win win lol
I figured, even if I don't use the XXX's, I could sell them and make a good profit, even at say $600 each (but as of now, thats not the plan lol)
I will use all Mach 5 drivers in my main HT room though, but I plan on having 2 rooms, so the XXX's will do dual opposed in that room. It's all still in the design phase as I'm still waiting for the developers to get our new area ready to build.

Now if we can just get the NHL back to work, I can enjoy my Jets season tickets I paid for! Geez, the wife is gonna have to work overtime to pay for all of the new toys! hehehe

Once Mark builds my 21's, I'll take some pic with everything together. I was kinda surprised how big the crates were that the XXX's shipped in. Those things could fall down a flight of stairs and still be good. And i have 6 - 21's. The 2 new ones will be 6. Though they won't be used for at least a year, same with the XXX's. I'm just stock piling. I have pics on the JTR thread as well as a few on here with the 4 x 21's and the 6 x 18's. I did sell 2 of the mal-x 18's a few weeks ago and will probable take my IB apart and give the drivers to friends. I don't use the IB much as the 4 x 21's are pretty nuts in my room on their own as It's not very big.
My goal is to get those damn crest amps!!!! man would that be a killer deal!
You have to be tempted to make a quick and dirty box for the XXX just to try them out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make it dual opposed so you don't have to brace so much and let er rip!

I am getting antsy to build a box for the XXX and there not even mine biggrin.gif

No, I won't be doing anything with them for quite a while but when I do build, they will be dual opposed smile.gif When I picked them up, me and the owner yanked them out of the crates and free air tested them at his shop to make sure they were ok, as I put them in storage until i actually use them. I don't have any room at my place for them. I think I'm done buying subs for a very long time lol
