With eD gone, Exodus gone, is Mach5 the only "big xmax" woofer maker around these days?
Tc Sounds and Re XXX are the big X max subs but there are a lot of 25mm+ Xmax woofers in Car audio. (Death Penalty, Fi, Xcon ect.)

Aurasound NS18-992-4A
Not overly popular, I guess because of the price.

Vd/$ ratio isn't all that good.

When they clearanced these off at $500 they were a great deal. I am kicking myself for not buying them at the time!

I'm just stock piling. I have pics on the JTR thread as well as a few on here with the 4 x 21's and the 6 x 18's. I did sell 2 of the mal-x 18's a few weeks ago and will probable take my IB apart and give the drivers to friends. I don't use the IB much as the 4 x 21's are pretty nuts in my room on their own as It's not very big.
My goal is to get those damn crest amps!!!! man would that be a killer deal!

Every time I think I'm a little crazy, I go look up N8DOGG, BassthatHz, or Mks posts and feel much better about myself. wink.gifeek.gif

Not me. I feel as if I am deprived of proper amounts of bass. tongue.gif

I am still waiting to finish off the cabs for the 21's.

And has anyone seen a pic of Riccis subwoofers. All those XXX 18's.
Hey! That's a damn near finished system. Moar poast, bass brother!
a grande piano isn't large because people like lugging 2000 pounds of wood and steel around nor do many people mind having one hog up half of their living room. its size comes from the frequency and dynamic range.

speakers can provide most of the sensation of a grande piano in much less space, so they really should be wife friendly. :-)

nice system.

What do you have going on there with your mains Charpladm? Active tri-amp'd? FTW-21's for the anchor too. Looks nice.

BTW my pictures wouldn't look too impressive. I don't have everything stacked all together. The subs are all spread out and the sub drivers aren't front firing or anything either so you can really only see one driver at a time.

Btw, Josh. I'd still like to see your HT set up. There has been very little photographic evidence of such a place. tongue.gif

+100

Ricci with all your spl monster builds and other things going on I wonder what type of system could contain your wants and what it may look like.

My system is a Tri-amp system.

If these UXL's weren't so expensive including shipping I would have built the Gjallerhorn already. Almost makes me want to just save up and buy the TC Ultra.instead.

Just looked and saw the ftw-21 is no longer available, but hey the uxl is available. Makes me wonder, I ordered another ftw-21 more than a week ago and have yet to even get a confirmation. Wonder if I it ordered in time or not.

So I've got the new LLE prototype and Mark said I could post a few pics. This thing is a monster, it weighs another 15-20lbs over the UXL. I should have it in a box next week and rocking it out! Here are a few woofer porn pics. The other sub is a UXL 18 for comparison. Mark said the numbers looked good. IMO I LOVE the looks of this monster with the plug! beautiful!

Monster!!

So the idea is to impale anyone who gets too close to the driver while its in operation? tongue.gif
post #681 of 740
Definitely an interesting look.
Is it 18 or 21? I love the phase plug. Never seen one on a long throw subwoofer before.
18, from what I know this driver is supposed to be a sound quality champ.
Wwwoooooowww! Impressive looking, for sure.

Any ETA updates on this guy?

I was informed the name of the driver is now "Phallus" If you don't know what it means, look it up, it fits the sub very well LOL
Not sure on an ETA, Mark was working on another prototype of it when I was there, just cosmetic stuff though. The first sub in the pic is the second prototype and the pics in my basement are the first one. I'll make sure I give my impressions once I get it hooked up and going.
