Picking out a receiver.

I been working on putting in surround sound in my media room. I have selected the speakers I plan on putting into the room. I read through the future proofing thread and it was helpful. I plan on starting with a 5.1 then moving up to 7.1.

Though I have some specific questions about picking out a receiver.

1. I have a 3d tv, with the 3d kit. (2009 Mitsubishi dlp) [I plan on using the 3d a bit].
a. Does a receiver have to be 3d ready?

2. when i look at watts per channel should I find the one that maxes out my speaker watts?

3. The sub-woofers I've been looking at (epik and HSU) have an amp built in so could I use that to put lines out to the speakers or should i do it directly from the receiver.

side question:

1. Am i better off with buying a processor and just amps for the speakers?

1a. If you hit the 3D adapter before the AVR, it does not have to be 3D Ready. If you hit an AVR with say legacy optical and bypass your avr with the video once again does not have to be 3D ready.

2. The watts per channel is sadly rather meaningless. Generally you pick a budget and just get the best you can get feature wise for the bucks.

3. Powered subs egenrall go to a line level output on the audio processor (AVR) called Sub Out.

Side ??? = Not really, most of the general population does not need external amplification to meet their needs / wants in an audio system.
