I have a sony ps3 as well, is there any reason I should keep the xd-ha2?

If you need to playback HDDVD's then keep the XA2. It also plays back regular DVD's.
The PS3 will playback BD's and DVD's, but not HDDVD's.

I only have 2 or 3 hd dvd's and I know it uses a silicon optix processor, but is it much better than the ps3's ability to play back dvd's upscaled to 1080p?

If you have both, there is really only one way for you to decide on your system. Try them both and see which one you prefer. In a head to head evaluation I preferred the XA2 in my system.
