However I must say the improvement to edge bleed was enormous. it went from ok to as good as anything I had seen out there (again for an edge lit..and perhaps a bit better)
I still find that there is some uniformity niggles in some vertical streaks. My wife can't see them, but I find I can sense them, almost like the slightest texture over an image, it doesn't change with picture, just becomes more noticeable on light backgrounds. Again i should say that I have very sensitive eyes (I can't stand plasma because of flicker for instance) so this should tell you how slight it is, but if I focus on it I can see it. I don't see it going away on it's own, but that's life.
Like I said, uniformity is not perfect on this set and in some respects leaves a little to be desired, but the flashlighting was irritating and to see it simply vanish made this TV a 5/5 for me.
In terms of watching 3D from my seating position. Absolutely spectacular. I am picky and you simply can't sell me on this half HD crap. the picture was every bit as good as ANYTHING I have seen with comfort to boot. I do notice some moire' on closely spaced horizontal lines (such as the grills of certain cars in Cars 2 3D) but that is the ONLY impact on image quality I would agree too. Otherwise it is bright, clear almost shiny and sharp as a tack.
I know many people jumped all over soniera (or whatever his name is) regarding his comparison of active vs passive, but in principal I must agree with some of his findings insomch as there does not seem to be any real image quality impact of passive vs active when seated at the proper distance.
I have looked at a lot of TV's of both types and I would be happy with the picture from either type, but again I find the flicker from the active glasses very distracting. Even when looking at only the TV when ever I move my eyes the flicker I see is rather terrible. My friend however has no such issues though and enjoys his active set as would I if I wasn't so darn sensitive to flicker.
